Signs and Fences…

We took a day off from the ordinary and hit the roads east from our home to Duvall and Carnation. This is the drive into Remlinger Farms in Carnation. I’ll show you all the fun signs and fence decorations we saw.  Click here if you want to see their webpage. Here’s a little blurb about the farm; We started as a small family run farm and fruit stand and have slowly grown over the years into the Family Fun Park, Market, Restaurant and Company Picnic site we are today. Check out all we have to offer.

What are those things in the field? Here are some close-ups!

Makes me thing about being “over a barrel” but these scarecrows seem happy to be over these wheels!

We enjoyed shopping in the farm market while we were here and brought home a Remlinger Bumbleberry Pie and some Sweet Baby Corn. The bunch of carrots are from another farm we stopped at.

This was before I baked the pie. It was delicious!

This farm holds some fun family memories from the early 90’s when my husband’s employer hosted annual company picnics here. Food, drinks, and entertainment for the whole family. These were our all-time favorite company events.

Hope you all have time to get out and enjoy some fall whimsy!

I Love Fall Y’all!

To start the new season today at sundown I have fences, signs, and fall color for y’all!

The vines covering our neighbors fences are turning color already.

My Dogwood is ablaze in fall colors.

Even the cats on my daily walking route are sporting fall colors.

And at the end of my walk I found a couple of signs to throw in the mix.

Looks like we have a new baby in the neighborhood. I’m not sure if I’d want all the details on a sign in my front yard.

Our fall is beginning with lovely cool mornings and sunny days. Today we are experiencing lots of traffic snarls because the Chinese President is visiting our region and driving around a lot to his different events. I’m happy to be able to stay put at home with only short drives to the grocery store etc. on my list of things to do. Hope your Fall is starting well or if you are in the southern hemispheres, I hope you are enjoying your Spring.

Look Closely…

The sign on the gate caught our eye but the surrounding fence really had us investigating. Check out the stone fence surrounding this gate. The fence around this beach home near Oxnard in Southern California holds lots of surprise elements.

When my husband was working in Southern California from 2006-2010 we had a condo so on the weekends we were”foot loose and fancy free” to do whatever we wanted. We really enjoyed early morning walks at the beach and one Saturday we ventured out to the Oxnard area and spotted this house.

Here are some closeups of the wall/fence.

I’m looking forward to some time in the future when Dear and I might be footloose and fancy free. Time will tell. In the meantime I’ll be content with our busy schedules and long prayer lists!

Different Fences…

Driving to the famous Farmer’s Market area of Los Angeles a few years ago we came across this house with an over the top application of Michelangelo’s David statues. Yes, plural, statues! This is in a million dollar plus neighborhood.

Over 14 David reproduction statues. I wonder what the story behind this landscaping is? Yard art gone crazy! What do you think the neighbors say? “Oh you won’t have a problem finding our street, turn at the David’s x 14+!”

So many sad and serious things happening in the Pacific Northwest right now I had to post something to distract myself in between praying earnestly!

Good Fences – Port Gamble

This is a view of the Hood Canal Bridge in the distance from the good fence at the Port Gamble Historic Cemetery. Port Gamble is a historic village on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State. Our last time through Port Gamble we stopped at Mike’s Barbecue and we highly recommend it to our fellow travelers!

Garden Fences…

Who doesn’t love a white picket garden fence? I’m joining TexWisGirl at Run*A*Round Ranch Report for Good Fences #71. This is my new header photo for now and I learned from my good ole Bloggy friends that this plant is Bee Balm. When Dear and I took an overnight road-trip in the middle of July to the North Olympic Peninsula in Washington State we stopped at a couple lavender farms. In a few days I’ll post my lavender shots but for today I’m sharing this sweet garden on the edge of the lavender fields at Purple Haze Lavender Farm. Our July has been very full and interesting to say the least. We had extended family stay with us after attending our son’s wedding at the end of June till July 8th. We are still in semi-retirement mode as Dear waits to hear about where his next job might be. During this mode we have said a few times that everyday is Saturday. We aren’t experts at this retirement preview. We took our little road-trip so we could get out of the “everyday is a project day” at this old house. Now at the end of July our youngest and her hubby have moved into our basement as their monthly apartment rent went up over $400. Yikes. Now we are trying to blend all our stuff, including furniture. We are very happy and thankful we can offer them this space. If Dear and I get re-located with a new job they will stay on and take care of our property. It’s a win-win situation for all of us. In the meantime we have lots of eggs, milk, spices, oatmeal and bookcases! You get the picture! How’s your July winding down?

Garden Fences!

When you live in the country you have to put fences up around your garden so that you can enjoy the bounty instead of the deer and other wildlife. Our son built this fence for his soon to be wife. Jamie’s Garden is producing some great vegetables already. If the deer could read the sign they would know they are not welcome in Jamie’s Garden.

I see lots of fresh salads and salsa in their future!

Sign on a Good Fence!

We have a lovely space close to us where you can walk out on these wooden walkways and see nature at it’s best. The fences along the walkway help to keep you where you should be so you don’t disturb the wildlife!

Can you see all the ducklings?

The vegetation is so lush and green this time of year.

We are having another stretch of dry warm weather and I’ve had to water my plants instead of depending on the rain to do that.

Dear was in New Orleans at a conference and I’m very happy to have him back home. We are celebrating at our favorite Mexican dive.

Fences and Signs!

This short red, white and blue fence is in the side yard of a house I pass on my way to exercise class.

On our way to Canada last Saturday I spotted these signs.

We have a few choices for border crossings into Canada in our state of Washington but Sumas is the one we choose when we are traveling to Chilliwack or the center of Abbotsford.

This is dairy country!

I’ll add one more fence looking out my basement door. It might be time to trim my Japanese Maple.

Signs and Fences…

We are in wedding mode counting down the days to our son’s wedding in June. This sign is hanging in our son’s home. Linking up with Lesley for Signs, signs!

While Dear and I were on Bainbridge Island we saw these fences. Of course I thought of Good Fences and Tex Wis Girl!

We are looking forward to a special event coming up on Saturday. We had to chuckle when Dear’s fortune cookie said “Traveling to the north will bring you unexpected happiness.”

What are your plans for the first weekend in May?
