For a Day or a Lifetime…

Besides our mattress (no box springs) these are the only furnishings left in our home for us to sit on. No TV but we still have internet. Today, Sunday, we went to church and said our goodbyes. We went out for breakfast after church since we have packed up all our dishes, etc. After breakfast we put our trailer on “offer up” and immediately got several inquiries on it and sold it within 2 hours. The couple who came to pick up the trailer also took two large “free” items we had on the curb, win win. Less items to take to the dump. We gave a few potted plants and patio decor to our neighbors. Then we made a trip to son #1’s to sit on a couch and watch the Sounders game. We also transported our two top hat blueberry bushes to their patio. We left one of our cars there and came back home via a new hamburger joint in Bothell. We’ll have one more sleep at this old house and then we’ll transfer our temporary residence to son #1’s home.

This was the classic Bothell sign we stopped on the side of the road to climb up to in the 90’s and take this shot for our Christmas photo. Since then a new college has been built on part of this site and the sign was removed.

A new sign has been added recently to replace the old one. I like the old one better. When we moved to Washington in 1988 our first home was in Bothell. Our current home had a Bothell address until the city of Kenmore incorporated in 1998, the year we moved to this old house. We’ve lived in Bothell and Kenmore more than a day but less than a lifetime.

This will be my last post from this old house.

Fences and Signs!

This short red, white and blue fence is in the side yard of a house I pass on my way to exercise class.

On our way to Canada last Saturday I spotted these signs.

We have a few choices for border crossings into Canada in our state of Washington but Sumas is the one we choose when we are traveling to Chilliwack or the center of Abbotsford.

This is dairy country!

I’ll add one more fence looking out my basement door. It might be time to trim my Japanese Maple.

Signs of Huntington Beach

Hope y’all aren’t getting tired of Huntington Beach. Some of these shots are conventional signs and the others are things that are “signs” that let you know you are definitely at the beach.

The Huntington Beach Pier was full of signs advertising their upcoming Surf City Marathon and Half Marathon.

It’s good to know the beach rules!

Glad he didn’t stop…

Pelicans are a good sign that you are close to the seashore.

Oil rigs and surfers are another sign that you are at Huntington Beach.

Signs, Signs…

A few years ago my first born son and I traveled to New Mexico to spend some time with my second born son. It was fun to see these great signs around the little town.

Three of these signs were taken at the Chaos Cafe in Artesia, New Mexico. If you are ever driving through town we recommend breakfast here. (I hope it is still in business!)

On the window of a coffee/espresso shop in downtown Artesia.

On our way North out of Artesia we drove through Roswell and these were the street lamps that lined the main thoroughfare!

Are you familiar with Roswell?

The Roswell UFO Incident was the alleged recovery of extra-terrestrial debris, including alien corpses, from an object which crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, on or about July 8, 1947. Since the late 1970s the incident has been the subject of intense controversy and the subject of conspiracy theories as to the true nature of the object which crashed. The United States military maintains that what was actually recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named “Mogul”; however, many UFO proponents maintain that in fact a crashed alien craft and bodies were recovered, and that the military then engaged in a cover-up.

The incident has turned into a widely known pop culture phenomenon, making the name Roswell synonymous with UFOs. It ranks as one of the most publicized and controversial UFO incidents ever.

Signs…

This is my daughter-in-law and me in front of a sign at Century Link Field in Seattle. We are looking forward to some post season games to determine what Major League Soccer Team will win the MLS Cup this year. Go Sounders! We have season tickets and will attend all the playoff games in our city, too. On Monday night we will watch the Seattle Sounders play F.C. Dallas in the 2nd leg of the first round of play…

Signs from England

We saw some great signs when we were in England. Pubs and Inns have some great unique signs.

Broadway Day 7 017

This one really cracked me up…how fresh can Lobster be from Canada to Windsor, England? I suppose it can be flown in the same day but the sign still had me smiling.

Some signs around this old house are that the weather is turning on us. Today we filled a yard waste bin with leaves and it’s really just the beginning of the raking season. We are looking forward to a few more soccer games with the Seattle Sounders and since we came in 1st place overall for our MLS season we are really hoping to be able to be in the final game for the MLS championships. If that’s the case that game will be here in Seattle on December 7th! It would be pretty sweet to celebrate our Seattle Sounders 40th Anniversary year and my 40th wedding anniversary with a MLS championship on the same weekend. Hope you were able to follow that.

We get to spend some quality time with our adult kids this weekend and we’re really looking forward to that. If I’m scarce on the internet you will know why. We will be busy eating fish tacos, tomato rice soup, Swedish Pancakes, my mom’s roolyet and besides eating together we will be shooting at pumpkins and other things…

What are your plans for the weekend?

Signs of My Summer…

It’s that time of the week again when I scramble to find photos that will fit the Alphabet letter of the week. This week we are up to the letter S. I know it’s Wednesday and not Thursday yet but I’ve got something special to post tomorrow…

Jenny keeps us all on track with Alphabe-Thursday so click on over to join in the fun.

Signs are my choice for the letter S!

Sisters by marriage at Julienne.

I was happy to even find some signs in my archives that had words that began with the letter S.

This is the original Starbucks in Downtown Seattle across from Pike Place Market.

This next sign is from a couple summers ago from Central California. It just made me chuckle.

Summer made a slow appearance here in Western Washington but these last weeks of August have been very nice. Even though Fall is one of my favorites I’m happy that the sun and warmer temperatures finally blessed our region. Next week Dear is off and we are going to head to the Oregon Coast and then inland to Bonneville Hot Springs. I probably won’t have a chance to participate with the letter T. Hope you all are still enjoying your summer…

Ruby Tuesday ~ Downtown Seattle…

Welcome to Ruby Tuesday. Please visit Mary at Work of the Poet to see more Ruby from around the world.

My shot this week was taken in downtown Seattle in Pioneer Square. I thought the old neon sign advertising  75 cent rooms was fabulous and how great that the building was built with Ruby bricks, too.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

Ruby in New Mexico…

It’s time to visit Mary at Work of the Poet for Ruby Tuesday. Thanks for being a great hostess Mary! Christmas time is great for finding ruby all over the place.

I took all these photos in New Mexico the weekend of Thanksgiving except for the kissing Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Those cuties are sitting on my kitchen counter. My oldest son and I were in the “Land of the Sun” for my middle son’s graduation and we didn’t have to wear sunglasses once. It even snowed on us!! I was real excited when I spotted that Christmas Hydrant. The signs just made me chuckle…
