Maundy Thursday ~ The Last Supper

GOTW-practice035

Excerpts from John chapter 13…

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.

Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;  so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.  After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them.  “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.  Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.  I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Autumn Walks

I enjoy walking in the cooler weather that Autumn generally brings.

To see more of the Outdoors visit our hostess Susan at A Southern DayDreamer.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Stage Coach Inn Museum

Outdoor Wednesday is hosted by Susan at A Southern DayDreamer. Visit her to join in or to see more Outdoor scenes around the world.

I’ve seen signs for this historical sight in Thousand Oaks, California for a few years now and finally decided to stop and have a look. This historical information was copied from The Stagecoach Inn Museum Website.

The original Stagecoach Inn was called the Grand Union Hotel and it was built in 1876. It was moved from it’s original location closer to the Ventura Fwy. to this property further West on Ventu Park Road.

This is a collage of the Inn and the Schoolhouse built on the sight to portray a School from the 1890’s.

This schoolhouse built on the grounds is a replica of a 1890 Schoolhouse. The contents of the room and its dimensions were found in historical records.

The Tri-Village, made up of replicas of a pioneer home, a Spanish-Mexican adobe and a Chumash Ap (tule dwelling). It represents the three historic eras in the Conejo Valley.

No photos were allowed in the Museum itself but each room is filled with great histiorical period pieces some original to the Hotel or the owners over the years. There is one room full of gramophones and gramophone accessories. It really is worth a visit.

Thanks for stopping by and now I’m off to your Outdoors!

National Day of Prayer ~ 2009

From 12:00 to 1:00 today several churches in the Conejo Valley got together to pray with one another on this National Day of Prayer. Our gathering was at the Thousand Oaks Civic Center Lawn. It was great to pray with people from other churches in the valley that I had never met before but who were united in one purpose. After a time of singing the crowd broke off into small groups around the grounds with an area pastor to pray for our nation, leaders, community, churches and families. I broke off with the group that met in a shady spot! Praise God He encourages us to pray and listens to the prayers of His people! We ended our time together singing God Bless America!

Friday’s Fave Five…

I’m already excited for next week. Easter is my favorite holiday and I love Holy Week and looking forward to Easter Sunday. I’m  looking forward to Good Friday’s Fave Five!

And lastly this sign I drove by this week made me laugh out loud and call my sister right away cuz we always share weird things we read on bumper stickers, etc!

I’m glad we believe in Eternal Security…

For more Fave Fives please visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story! Thanks Susanne for hosting this great weekly exercise…

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

September 11, 2001 ~ I’ll Never Forget

I will never forget this day. Where I was, what I did, who I talked to. My TV was still in my living room in Washington in 2001. I sat on the edge of an ottoman in shock. I started dialing, first my husband, then my married son and his wife, (they were married 2 weeks before 9/11 so they just celebrated their 7th anniversary this year, too)  I woke my 2 kids that were still at home. That day seemed like it would never end. Called my SIL to find out if she’d heard anything from my niece who works in Manhattan. My niece was in route to Manhattan, no one at work had seen her yet. She wasn’t a casualty that day. She made it. She had to turn around and try to get home again. It took her over 6 hours to get home. Small price to pay compared to so many…

Praying that God will continue to lead and direct our leaders in how best to protect the people they are called to serve. Praying that God will protect us from evil. Also praying that God will build us up to be able to persevere and endure whatever suffering comes our way.

I’m headed out to my porch now to put out the only little symbol of our flag I have here in Southern California. My big flags are all in Washington State.  I’ll add a photo soon.

Psalm 20:7 ~ “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

So for my morning walk I was on a quest to find U.S. Flags displayed today. I have a hard time walking past 30 minutes by myself and challenging myself with quests helps me stay out longer. At first I was sad that I wasn’t finding any flags but as I plugged away I finally found some. Here’s a collage of some of the flags displayed on my neighborhood 7208 step walk.
