Barns Along Highway 395…

chewelah walk 045

For the Barn Collective hosted by Tom at The Backroads Traveler I’m showing the barns we saw along highway 395 from Spokane to Chewelah, Washington. We made this drive a week ago.

We just flew home from San Antonio, Texas last night and I’m catching up around this old house. The grass needs mowing, the laundry is piled high and the grocery list is growing. I’ve got more to share from visiting our son last weekend and then I have all the things I saw in San Antonio to share, too. Today we will put the patio covers up! The sun is shining again.

Barn Collective

We spotted many farms with barns on our way to our son and daughter in law’s home in Eastern Washington.

This first group are taken from I-90 going at least 70 miles per hour!

This was my favorite that I managed to click fast enough when I saw the barn quilt on it.

The next group I share will be from Highway 395 going north from Spokane, Washington.

We will be hitting these same roads heading home today. We’ve been walking and eating and doing some construction on a Chicken Coop. The trip takes up to 6 hours so if I don’t visit today to see your barns hopefully I’ll get around tomorrow morning.

Snow Geese and Barns…

When my sisters and I were in Mount Vernon, Washington to see the daffodils back in March we also were treated to a large invasion of Snow Geese. I just realized I never shared these photos and since there are some barns in the background in some of the shots I’ll link up to The Barn Collective with Tom the Backroads Traveler.

Here’s a closer view of a barn in Mount Vernon that we drove by on a different weekend.

We are getting some fine sunny weather in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. There are predictions of it hitting 80 tomorrow. We are tempted to put up our patio covers and get the patio furniture out. I had a good week of Zumba at the gym and I’m happy to say my muscles aren’t screaming at me anymore. On Saturday we worked in the yard and I got some new shrubs planted. Later my son and I had a fun evening watching the Seattle Sounders beat Philadelphia Union 2-1. It’s always more fun to win. Quote of the night from coach Zigi: “You can’t score your second one until you get your first one … It was a big weight off his shoulder.”

Hope you all have a good week and that your tax returns are mailed or electronically submitted!

Churches and Barns…

On Saturday we took a drive to the city of Snohomish to shop about in the antique and specialty stores before it started pouring down rain.

We saw some barns on the way…

And while we walked about we saw a couple of churches. I didn’t get close enough to the churches to give you details.

Our daughter came with us on our little drive and shopping excursion and she bought a couple items and we bought one small item. We ate lunch together in the sunshine and came home in a downpour!

This coming week will be full with travel to San Francisco later in the week. Still taking any suggestions for restaurants and sights to see in San Francisco from any travelers out there. I got some good suggestions already but I’m always ready for more!

A fun painting to make a building look like a barn and my last from the little town of Duvall, Washington.

Here we go into the great week of Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to our Turkey meal gathering on Thursday at the home of some friends. There will be just 50 of us…LOL! I’ll be making a smaller turkey at home with all the fixins next Sunday. Hope you see all you can be thankful for! Blessings…

Thanks Tom for hosting the Barn Collective.

We had a very busy Halloween evening at this old house. We had lots of candy on hand an still ran out! Our daughter Katie handed out the candy getting many stares and comments on her make-up. She applied the make-up herself. She was a broken doll. I wish I would have taken a photo of one of the wide eyed kids standing and staring and being frozen on our walkway…

Barn Collective

So I’m going outside the box again with my Barn Collective post. This is a piece that my mother-in-law painted years back that I really enjoy. My mother-in-law passed away in 1997 and we have reminders of her around our home. She grew up Kansas and she was a school teacher in a one-room school house. She lived with us after my father-in-law passed away in 1985.

Head over to Rose Street Reflections for The Barn Collective #15 to see some actual barns.
