As the Sun Doth Daily Rise ~ Hymn

As the Sun Doth Daily Rise

As the sun doth daily rise,
Brightening all the morning skies,
So to Thee with one accord
Lift we up our hearts, O Lord.

Day by day provide us food,
For from Thee come all things good;
Strength unto our souls afford
From Thy living bread, O Lord.

Be our guard in sin and strife;
Be the leader of our life;
Lest from Thee we stray abroad,
Stay our wayward feet, O Lord.

Quickened by the Spirit’s grace
All Thy holy will to trace
While we daily search Thy Word,
Wisdom true impart, O Lord.

Praise we, with the heavenly host,
Father, Son and Holy Ghost;
Thee would we with one accord
Praise and magnify, O Lord.

Sunset and Sunrise…

…at the Pacific Ocean is always a treat. I’m sure it’s a treat on the East coast, too.

We had an evening walk on the beach before we headed back to the room to enjoy Sunset from our deck. On our way back to the room we spotted this group of horses with riders headed for a beach stroll. Maybe next time we’ll enjoy riding horseback on the beach…

“How fine has the day been! how bright was the sun, How lovely and joyful the course that he run! Though he rose in a mist when his race he begun, And there followed some droppings of rain: But now the fair traveller’s come to the west, His rays are all gold, and his beauties are best; He paints the skies gay as he sinks to his rest, And foretells a bright rising again.” Isaac Watts

The first ones up before sunrise were the fishermen. We were up early, too, and took a rainy walk before it started pouring and we headed back to our room. The rain didn’t last long.

I’ve got a couple more posts from our time to the Long Beach Peninsula and back again. This weekend is going to be full with work on the house, soccer, a going away party, church, more work on the house and we’ll culminate Sunday celebrating Dear’s birthday barbecuing with Josh and Laura. Life is rich! Hope your Friday and weekend go well!

New Moon…

Looking out at the Sunrise on Thursday morning I saw our new moon. We were very frosty and cold. I was also on the phone with my dear mom on Thursday trying to get a recipe for one of my favorite Christmas treats that she bakes. It’s going to take a lot of experimenting to get it right in a smaller batch. I’ve got to cut the recipe down from her recipe that takes 5 pounds of flour! OYE! She called later to tell me an ingredient she forgot.  This is going to be quite the experiment but well worth it when I get it right! On Friday Dear and I are headed south for a Christmas celebration with dear friends.

So partying and experimenting are on my agenda…how about yours…

Glorious Sunrise!

Psalm 90:14  ~ Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Our cold clear days have afforded us some beautiful sunrises.

The colors change quickly so it’s good to pay close attention with your camera at hand.

The rain is suppose to return on Thursday. I’m in the midst of doing some re-evaluating of my daily schedule and seeing how things can improve for me and the family. On Monday and Wednesday mornings I go to the YMCA for Zumba. I felt the need to have an aerobic workout on Fridays, too, so Mondays wouldn’t wipe me out. The solution that I came up with is to do a thorough house cleaning every Friday. Cleaning is a great aerobic workout and it’s a win win idea for myself and the family. Somewhere along the way I have gotten out of the weekly cleaning schedule.

On Thursday Katie and I have an appointment to check out another wedding venue. I’ll make sure and take some photos!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

60 in 2011!

This won’t be the last time you hear about this but I’m turning 60 this year. 60! I saw this great idea when I was visiting Pink Purl, Tracy’s Blog in Norway. She had a list of 40 things she was going to do before her 40th birthday in 2 years. I really liked the idea but I don’t have 2 years until I’m 60 so I’m trying to come up with 60 things to do this year. If you have any suggestions leave me a comment. Some good ideas I’ve gotten so far are:

~ Take $60 in dollar bills and hand them out randomly.

~ Send your parents 60 cards thanking them for having you and the way they raised you.

~Take a cross country road trip with your daughter.

~Do a book signing in a local book store and invite some friends to join you!

~Each month drive 60 miles on a different route……

~ Do 60 posts about one memory for each of your years – granted you may need some help for the earlier years!!

I’ll be coming up with some of my own and then honing the list down to 60 things soon. Or maybe I should start on some and keep adding others till I get to 60. Time will tell.

This weather we’ve been having has given us some real nice sunrises. I took this one at the top of the post on New Year’s Eve morning.

Hope your week is going well. I’m getting back in the regular groove around here.

Back to Our Favorite Spot…

…after a few months away and boy did we get lots of wonderful views…

As usual we arrived in time to see the sun rise.

The birds were mostly flying today because the tide was in and there was very little exposed sand.

We were treated to lots of dolphins. We even saw them jump over waves!

The dolphins weren’t concerned about the surfers and vice versa…

Tonight Dear and I are going to Tam O’ Shanter to celebrate our 35th anniversary that came and went with us in separate parts of the country in December. We are well on our way enjoying some of our favorite things here in Southern California. Dear has finally recovered from his ick and my ick didn’t get bad enough to keep me down! Praise the Lord!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!

Psalm 34:8-9 (ESV)

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

Sweetly the Holy Hymn

Sweetly the Holy Hymn

Sweetly the holy hymn
Breaks on the morning air;
Before the world with smoke is dim
We meet to offer prayer.

While flowers are wet with dews,
Dew of our souls, descend:
Ere yet the sun the day renews,
O Lord, Thy Spirit send.

Upon the battlefield,
Before the fight begins,
We seek, O Lord, Thy sheltering shield,
To guard us from our sins.

Ere yet our vessel sails
Upon the stream of day
We plead, O Lord, for heavenly gales
To speed us on our way!

On the lone mountain side,
Before the morning’s light,
The Man of sorrows wept and cried,
And rose refreshed with might.

Oh, hear us then, for we
Are very weak and frail,
We make the Savior’s Name our plea,
And surely must prevail.

Words: Charles H. Spurgeon, 1866.
