60 in 2011!

This won’t be the last time you hear about this but I’m turning 60 this year. 60! I saw this great idea when I was visiting Pink Purl, Tracy’s Blog in Norway. She had a list of 40 things she was going to do before her 40th birthday in 2 years. I really liked the idea but I don’t have 2 years until I’m 60 so I’m trying to come up with 60 things to do this year. If you have any suggestions leave me a comment. Some good ideas I’ve gotten so far are:

~ Take $60 in dollar bills and hand them out randomly.

~ Send your parents 60 cards thanking them for having you and the way they raised you.

~Take a cross country road trip with your daughter.

~Do a book signing in a local book store and invite some friends to join you!

~Each month drive 60 miles on a different route……

~ Do 60 posts about one memory for each of your years – granted you may need some help for the earlier years!!

I’ll be coming up with some of my own and then honing the list down to 60 things soon. Or maybe I should start on some and keep adding others till I get to 60. Time will tell.

This weather we’ve been having has given us some real nice sunrises. I took this one at the top of the post on New Year’s Eve morning.

Hope your week is going well. I’m getting back in the regular groove around here.

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

  1. Post your 60 favorite photos.
Visit all 50 US states, and add in Canadian provinces, Mexican states, or British/Irish counties to make up 60 places!

    Oh–and Happy 60th Birth Year!

  2. Plant sixty bulbs in a public space.
Give sixty Bible to a foreign outreach.
Memorize page sixty of the Bible, or maybe Psalm 60.
Weave or needle point your birth plaid-example April 14 1951 would be four lines of one color, one of another, four of another color, then another one,9,5,1. Makes a great decorative pillow or Christmas stocking fabric…also can be done for wedding dates.
    Fun way to celebrate!

  3. What a totally cool idea and a lot of fun! If something comes to me, I’ll let you know! Send your parents 60 flowers of the month of your birth and blog about it!

  4. Each month start a list of 60 things that bless you, surprise you or cause you to be in awe of God….things that are BIG or things that you may take for granted in a given day. Maybe that can kind of be a year in review of “God sightings” for your life.

  5. Oh my goodness – you are very young-looking – but maybe you are the new 60!
When is your birthday? Do you have enough time to get 60 things accomplished? Will there be a family wedding this year?…so many questions!

  6. Looks like you’ve received lots of good suggestions! I’ll be interested to see what you select.

I enjoyed your 2010 restrospective below…that is a great way to remember the year. So many blessings!

  7. I can’t belive you are going to be 60.
I cant’ wait to see all the exciting things you will do. What a great idea.

I already told you mine. ..I’ll think some more.

  8. You are way to young to turn 60. How did we get so far? I don’t have any ideas about this, but let me think about them…because Judy and I are just around the corner next year.

  9. What a neat theme for the year … doing things in 60’s.
I have an easy suggestion ! send 60 e-mails to a certain group of friends! smile… (and do it 6 times over!)

    or … try 60 new recipes !

I’m glad you are joining the 60’s generation, Ellen … welcome .. I’ve been here a few years already!

  10. Love it! how about become a Zumba instructor….or meet some of your Canadian friends half way for dinner with our men?????What would the half way mark be?

    • Kathy what a great idea to meet for dinner sometime! Mt. Vernon is halfway and there’s an Italian restaurant just off I-5 that looks like a good possibility.

  11. Such a good way to make it fun! I will have to come up with one for you yet. the photo reminded me of the view I’ve seen out of our back windows this past week.

  12. You’ve certainly had many good ideas come your way already. How about do 60 things you’ve never done before. These can be simple (like try a new food) or big (really, really big). I look forward to seeing how your year unfolds. So this year I make the big half-century…I suppose I should do something special, too. But somehow, I doubt I will. 🙂

  13. well, I don’t know about your list, but my list would include travelling around the US (world if possible) and meeting as many blog friends as possible!!

    wow,

    60.
