Outdoor Wednesday ~ El Matador Beach 2

It’s time to visit Susan at A Southern DayDreamer to see the great outdoors around blogland or to join in the fun.

Last Friday my bloggy walking buddy Willow, her husband The Professor and I went to El Matador Beach and to Malibu Gardens Nursery. This was my second time exploring here and this time the weather was a bit gloomy.

There were fewer birds in residence this morning, too. They were probably out getting breakfast.

I can just imagine this Cormorant was saying “He went that-a-way!”

As we huffed and puffed back up the steep stairs and trail Willow stopped long enough for me to snap her photo.

Now to chase away the gray here’s something bright from the Malibu Gardens Nursery…

Happy Outdoors to you all! See you outside in your neck of the woods…

Three or More Tuesday ~

It’s time for Three or More at The Gypsy’s Corner. Visit Tam to join in on the fun posting anything you want that’s three or more.

I found these goodies today at my local Goodwill. Monday is Senior day and they give a 25% discount to anyone 55 or older. I bought all this stuff for $7.00. Four goblets that I think are really great, 5 napkins, and 3 Teacups and saucers. Thanks for visiting me and continuing to enable me in my Thrift store shopping addiction.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Today’s Thrifty Treasures

Have you noticed how many fun memes fall on Monday?! I’m going to have to evaluate which ones I enjoy most. This week I’m trying this one at Southern Hospitality called Today’s Thrifty Treasures. Thrift store shopping is something I might have to have an intervention for but until that happens I’m having a good time.

My Thrifty Treasures this week are these tea cups and saucers. They cost me 99 cents for each piece. They are Wedgewood, Volendam, Made in England. I love the design and the colors and of course the price!!

I’m looking forward to seeing more treasures by clicking over to Southern Hospitality!

Mosaic Monday & Blue Monday~ Happy Flag Day!

Flag Day is Sunday and since our Mosaics go up on Sunday night I’m posting this one early to honor Flag Day here in the U.S.A. There’s a lot of blue in all my mosaics so I’m double posting for Blue Monday.  Thank you Mary for starting Mosaic Monday which is wonderful for a visual person like me! Click here to see more Mosaics. Thank you Sally for starting Blue Monday. Blue is one of my favorite colors. Click here to see more blue!

On Thursday I walked around the historic section of Oxnard and found some flags. The vignette of flags and Parfait were taken at our home in Washington over Memorial Weekend.

Now here’s some Blue from Maliblue, I mean Malibu! I was here with my bloggy friend Willow on Friday.

And on Friday night Dear and I headed over to the Greek Festival in town to get some good Greek food. We had Gyros and Saganaki (a great hard greek cheese, fresh cut from a large wheel sauteed with lemon and flamed with brandy and fresh lemon juice). OPA!  Oh I forgot about the Greek pastries we brought home, too. Can anyone tell me why I’m not losing weight??

Happy Flag Day and have a great Monday everyone…

Holy Father, In Thy Mercy ~ Hymn

Holy Father, In Thy Mercy

Holy Father, in Thy mercy,
Hear our anxious prayer.
Keep our loved ones, now far distant,
’Neath Thy care.

Jesus, Savior, let Thy presence
Be their light and guide;
Keep, oh, keep them, in their weakness,
At Thy side.

When in sorrow, when in danger,
When in loneliness,
In Thy love look down and comfort
Their distress.

May the joy of Thy salvation
Be their strength and stay;
May they love and may they praise Thee
Day by day.

Holy Spirit, let Thy teaching
Sanctify their life;
Send Thy grace, that they may conquer
In the strife.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
God the One in Three,
Bless them, guide them, save them, keep them
Near to Thee.

Words: Isabella S. Stephenson, 1869. She wrote this hymn after his brother was sent to South Africa for health reasons. It was sung on the HMS Bacchante, and published in the Manual of Common Prayer at Sea, 1886.

Round Robin Challenge ~ Looking Up!

I so enjoy the Round Robin Challenges. Today is the day for Looking Up!

It’s time for a new challenge! How about the one suggested by Robinella, “Looking Up!” Pretty simple concept, grab your cameras, point them toward the sky, and snap, snap, snap! Birds, Bees, Trees, Airplanes, Blimps, Road Signs, Billboards, Satellite Dishes, Grain Silos, the list of possible subjects is endless. On the other hand, maybe you prefer to shoot something representational of the idea of “Looking Up!” In that case, you might photograph something that inspires a motivational mood in you. Something positive that makes you feel like things are LOOKING UP. It’s up to you to interpret the meaning. Just have fun with it.

This shot was taken last week at Hollywood Beach, Channel Islands/Oxnard. The skies were so great that day!

This one is looking up through an old trellis at Heritage Square in Los Angeles.

There was a fire close to us yesterday and the helicopters were keeping a vigilant watch.

I took a stroll through a historic area of Oxnard on Thursday and took this shot looking up at Santa Clara Catholic church. I went inside and the stained glass and ceiling were amazing. I guess that would be looking up so maybe I’ll add one of those, also.

Have a great weekend all you Robins!

Friday’s Fave Five ~

Time to look over your last week and recall your favorites!  Click on over to Susanne’s blog Living to Tell the Story to join in or see others favorites.

My favorites were very easy this week and revolved around our son Josh flying in for a quick overnight visit!

We picked Josh up at the Long Beach airport Saturday morning and drove across town to L.A. (right next door to Glendale) to have lunch at Tam O’ Shanter. Wonderful prime rib and wonderful old fashioned service!

From the Tam O’ Shanter we headed to the Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles to see the great preservation efforts of some wonderful homes and for a classic car show.

So here’s the real reason our son flew down to L.A… For the Seattle Sounders Soccer game against the 1st place L.A. team, Chivas! We were just killing time at the restaurant and Heritage Square until game time :0)  There were 9 of us from my family at the game and a very boisterous Southern California Sounders fan base that we sat next to! We lost 1-0 but we still had a wonderful time.

Here’s our son Josh making friends with our opponents! Josh is such a great peacemaker!!

On Sunday before we took Josh to the airport we had a family lunch at my sisters house. Fun times with Baba and Deda and cousins and aunts and uncles on my side of the family and Dear’s side of the family, too. The time flew by and we dropped Josh off at the airport and then tried to recover from all the fun!

My last favorite from this last week was discovering the historic area of Oxnard. I love old wonderful architecture and wide tree lined streets filled with fabulous homes!!

I look forward to seeing your favorites from this past week. Thank you Susanne for being our hostess for this great weekly event!

Ina Garten’s Tabbouleh

I’m sharing this for Gollum’s Foodie Friday weekly event. Visit her at Designs by Gollum to see lots of good food and recipes!

I’ve made this recipe several times and it is very good. When I’m having friends join us that are gluten intolerant I use Quinoa instead of Bulgur and it works just fine, too. This recipe is copyrighted all over the place so I’ll just leave you the link to get the ingredients and directions!

ABC’s of the Word ~ Rust…

And here’s another great passage with lots of R’s.

Philippians 4:4-7 (English Standard Version)

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Tablescape Thursday ~ Bedroom Tea Tray

I’ve so enjoyed this weekly meme. It is a creative outlet that brings me lots of joy. It starts with the searching for treasure at thrifty prices then putting them together to create a pleasing result. It’s also fun to look around at what you already have and see what you can put together that you didn’t think of before.

Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for being such a great hostess of this weekly event.
