It’s Guinness Time…

It was a March miracle that I actually put together a tablescape and photographed it for the crawl.

Will you be making Corned Beef and Cabbage or Irish Stew or something else that says “Ireland” for St. Patty’s Day?

We saw this at the Crown and Trumpet in the town of Broadway in the Cotswolds.

I hope to get around to see all the St. Patrick’s Day tables joining Kathleen’s crawl!

Love is in the Air…

…and already stocked in some of the aisles in the local stores. I thought it was a good time to share about a fun party coming up just before Valentine’s Day.

Laurie is hosting this again this year. It’s a fun time to let the red, pink, and love flow freely. And speaking of love…

Here’s my sweet niece that I love dearly at Huntington Beach in California. I missed seeing her and the rest of my extended family this Christmas and New Year but at least I have photos to enjoy…

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Cock-a-Doodle-Do!

It’s time for another Rooster Party hosted by Barb at Bella Vista

I have very little rooster decor in my home and I shared it at the last party but when I’ve been out and about I’ve come across some fine rooster specimens both in art form and real. Hope you enjoy my contribution to the party!

Family was visiting and we made a quick stop at Country Village in Bothell, Wa. They have some fine Roosters around their grounds.

“The rooster may crow but the hen delivers the goods.”

This one is so interesting. It was funny that he walked up and down this bench and it’s right outside a fun shop that included a hairdresser! Looks like he could use a trim.

This pair are very old and came from Dear’s mother. I decided to use them on this table setting.

This three-some are in a yard in Camarillo where I used to walk with my good buddy Willow. I sure miss those walks…

I found this guy in Cambria, California.

Well enjoy your Rooster Party Hopping. Here’s a little refreshment to send you on your way!

You can find the recipe for frozen Raspberry Cream Pie at The Pioneer Woman.

Oh dear me my rooster friends. I’ve had an unfortunate injury to my right thumb that is making typing quite a chore. Please accept my generic comment on your posts knowing that I have looked at each of your roosters and enjoyed what I’ve seen.

Finding Beauty ~ Look Up!

It’s time to join Claudia at Dippity Road for Finding Beauty.

My husband was out barbecuing on Tuesday night and called me out to our little front patio to check out the great sky! Little puffs of clouds covered the sky around our condominium complex. I love it when all I have to do is step out my front door and see something as delightful as this!

Hot Tea Month ~ Favorite Teas

This is week two of Hot Tea Month blog-a-thon. Click on over to the hot tea month site to join in the fun. A big thank you to Scrabblequeen for hosting the event!

Week Two: January 10th-16th

Tell us about your favorite teas. Do you prefer black, green, white, red, or “herbal”? Do you like added flavors such as fruit, flowers, vanilla, chocolate, or spices, or are you a “purist”?

For a quick cup of tea I generally enjoy tea steeped with a tea bag. If I am going to steep loose tea I enjoy a good Earl Grey or English Breakfast Tea or a Russian black tea called Czars tea.

I always have to make sure I have good ole Lipton tea bags around for my family especially my brother Leonard. Some of my sisters have moved on to herbal teas. When I was younger I put lots of sugar and milk in my tea. These days I drink most of my hot beverages black with no sweeteners.

I found this really good tea in these cool muslin bags at a local grocery store at a close-out price. A Russian blend of China, Ceylon, and India teas with natural scents of bergamot, lemon, lime, orange, mandarin and flowers. What a description :0)

This is my daughter in a flat we rented in Scotland enjoying our welcome tea tray that was left for us.

I very rarely go for more fruity teas but I do experiment once in a while. This tea cup and tea was a gift from my son and his wife and I’ve enjoyed the variety of teas from this box.

If I want something hot at night I generally will go for the herbals. My first choice is usually Chamomile.

When we go out for tea in a larger group we will usually get a pot of Earl Grey, a pot of some fruity tea like Peach, and choose something different like lavender or anything we haven’t tried before that is different from our usual. It’s fun to experiment with the group.

I’ve developed a nagging cough that hopefully will depart in the next day or two in the meantime as I write this post I’m enjoying a hot cuppa Lady Grey to soothe my throat. It’s interesting that if I’m ever sick I always think of hot tea not hot coffee. Of course if things get really bad there’s that other British remedy…

Have a good week enjoying your tea, whatever flavor or variety you choose!

Friday ~ Finding Beauty

Claudia at Dipity Road is starting a new meme for Friday called Finding Beauty. Click on over to check it out and join in if you’d like…

After I returned to the condo in Southern California from our home in Washington State I felt the need to hit the beach and catch some of the winter beauty here in Southern California. This was taken at Pt. Mugu on Wednesday of this week.

Fall Cloche Party ~

It’s time to visit Marty at a A Stroll Thru Life for the Fall Cloche Party.

One thing I found out real fast is that fall decorations just aren’t in existence here at the little condo in California. We always have Thanksgiving at our home in Washington so Fall lives up there. What to do? What to do? I hate to miss a party. Here’s a little something I could put together in honor of 9-11. A day I will never forget. So in remembrance of that day that changed our lives in big and small ways, here is my cloche.

In honor of everyone who lost their loved ones on September 11, 2001. We will never forget!

May God continue to bless America and may our flag wave proudly over the land of the free!

Now to see lots of great Fall Cloches visit Marty here.

BooMama’s DipTacular!

Just in time for Football and Soccer BooMama is having a Blog Carnival for us to share dip recipes. Just click on the button to see more dips or to join in the fun. This carnival starts tomorrow, Friday. I’m going to repost this recipe that is yummilicious for y’all to try!

I was standing in the bank waiting my turn and on the television they had Giada from the Food Network making some great looking bruschetta. I got the ingredients I needed and decided to try it. Hopefully I get it right because I didn’t write anything down.

The ingredients she used were whole milk ricotta cheese, tomatoes seeded and chopped, fresh mint chopped, salt and pepper. I don’t remember if she used garlic so I went ahead and used a clove of garlic, also. She mixed these ingredients all together and put it into a nice serving bowl. She used Ciabatta bread that she drizzled with olive oil and grilled. After it was grilled she squeezed some fresh lemon on the slices. Your company can spread as much of the topping that they want on the slices of bread and enjoy…

If you need more specific amounts here’s what I used. About 8oz. of ricotta, 1 beefsteak tomato chopped, 10 mint leaves chopped, 1 clove garlic, minced, salt and pepper to taste. I bought a small loaf of Artisan Sea Salt Filone bread from Von’s/Safeway. This bread worked out good because it filled in the extra salt the dip needed. I will be making this again because it was duhlicious! Michelle found the link for the original recipe  and you can find it here.

Wake up sleepy farm!”

You are going to need a good farmer style breakfast so you have the endurance to see all the roosters today so how about this…

Apricot-Almond French Toast with eggs and turkey sausage? or…

One of these egg dishes? Have fun everyone!
