WFW ~ The Lily ~ Matthew 6: 28-34

He’s the lily of the valley, the bright and morning star

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

Matthew 6:28-34

“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Soloman in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Have a worry free day my friends…

ABC Wednesday ~ A is for…

A is for Apples and Apple Trees

These photos are of the apple tree and apples on the tree in our yard in the State of Washington. Here are some interesting facts about apples in Washington State.

State Fruit
Apple
Washington is the nation’s top apple-producing state, so it is appropriate that the apple was named a state symbol in 1989, the centennial year. A favorite fruit around the world, the apple comes in many different colors, sizes and varities. From the beautiful blossoms of spring, to the heavily laden branches in autumn, the apple trees of eastern Washington represent one of the largest industries in the state. The Washington apple is certainly one of the most recognized symbols of the state worldwide.

This begins Round 3 of ABC Wednesday.

You can now find all the posts for ABC Wednesday here.

Ruby Tuesday ~ My Ruby Living Room

Our living room in my home in Washington has a lot of Ruby/Burgundy accents.

It always cracks me up when I try to describe our style. Kind of an old lady, vintage, modern, eclectic, traditional mish mosh of stuff we’ve gotten stuck with inherited and purchased over the years.

Some of our Books

Kipling, Browning, and Favorite Poems ~ all very old with ruby covers!

For more Ruby Tuesday visit Maryt at Work of the Poet. You can join in any time, too!

Blueberry Mornings ~

We have one blueberry bush in our yard in Washington. Most years it gives us a great crop of blueberries in July. If I am at my home in Washington in July my usual morning ritual is to go in my jammies and pick the ripest berries that day. Thankfully there are enough berries for me and the birds. I take my stash inside and pour them over my high fiber cereal with a cut up banana and enjoy my morning treat. Simple God given pleasures really make my day. Have a great day my friends.

Bowling ~ Project Black

So just when I thought I had exhausted all my creativity for Project Black my daughter asked me to go with her for her pre-bowl. She’s on a bowling team with a bunch of guys in a Tuesday night “9 Pin” league. She has other plans this Tuesday and needed to get her games in for the team.

Her best score today was 151. Her bowling ball was a gift from us for her 22nd birthday. Her brother Dan bought her the cool star bowling shoes for her birthday. The Brunswick bag was a thrift store purchase I made for her.

All of these photos are going into my Project Black File here

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone…

Out in the Sunshine ~ Hymn

Out in the Sunshine

words by Fanny Crosby

Out in the sunshine of infinite love,
Breathing the fragrance of Eden above;
I am so happy, O Savior divine,
Living or dying, to know I am Thine.

Refrain

Yes, I am Thine, Lord, I am Thine,
Living or dying, I know I am Thine.

Out in the sunshine, though shadows may fall,
Yet will I thank Thee and praise Thee for all;
Never, no, never my heart shall repine,
Living or dying, I know I am Thine.

Refrain

Out in the sunshine sweet music I hear,
Tenderly wafting a song on my ear;
Oh, what a blessèd assurance is mine,
Living or dying, I know I am Thine.

Refrain

Out in the sunshine by faith I can see,
Mansions in glory preparing for me;
O my Redeemer, what rapture is mine,
Living or dying, I know I am Thine.

Refrain

Oh, A Thrifting We Will Go ~

Oh, A thrifting we will go
a thrifting we will go
Hi ho the derio
a thrifting we will go..

So my sister Lana, our niece Michelle, my daughter-in-law Laura, and I met at Goodwill on Saturday morning to have a shopping party together. Michelle has been in Washington since Tuesday for a wedding and a visit. She is donning an apron that she was considering. This is our sorting out stage of shopping. We first load the carts with everything we think we might want, then when we’ve had enough shopping we sort through everything and decide what we really don’t want.

Some of the goodies I’ve acquired this week. I love the little saying on the blue plate from England. “When two fond hearts as one unite the yoke is easy and the burden light”

I love to mix lace and another color tablecloth for tea tables or just for some old fashioned fun. I’m a sucker for tablecloths and the two I bought today were unique and in very good shape. I’m looking forward to making some sweet treats in these Petite heart pans. Think of the possibilities.

This hand made tablecloth is a very interesting color and the work is so detailed on it. I just couldn’t walk away from it. Well, I could have walked away but I didn’t want to.

While we were shopping my two sons were home preparing a great barbecue for us hard working shoppers. It was so good. They decided on hamburgers and to go with the hamburgers they made carmelized onions, guacamole, bacon, a fruit salad and baked beans. We had my Rice Krispy Bars for dessert. What a feast it was. We felt blessed.

Ok my sister Lana G! really has a talent at presenting her treasures in a beautiful way. She spent the most of all of us. Check out her treasures here.

Pink Saturday ~ 2

Welcome to my 2nd Pink Saturday!

I’ve posted this before on my blog but not for Pink Saturday. These are some of my Royal Albert China pieces in the Moss Rose Pattern. Over the years I’ve gathered pink accessories to go with these dishes. I really do like the pink and green combination.

I began my set of Moss Rose by buying a Tea Service while touring England in the summer of 1973 with a Christian Rock Band. After I was married in 1974 my husband and I were on a cross country road trip and we made a special trip into Canada from Detroit to buy dinner service for 12 in this same pattern. The pattern was not available in the U.S.A. I love this set but prefer to use plain white china for most gatherings these days except for when I get inspired to set a pretty tea table.

I’m including this collage of a bush in my yard that a hummingbird was enjoying that happens to have PINK blossoms on it…

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday everyone and thank you to our kind hostess Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. To see more Pink today just click on the link.

We Cannot Think Too Highly of Christ ~ Newton

We cannot think too highly of Christ

“I am well satisfied it will not be a burden to me at the hour of death, nor be laid to my charge at the day of judgment, that I have thought too highly of the Lord Jesus Christ or labored too much in commending and setting Him forth to others, as the Alpha and Omega, the Lord our righteousness, the sufficient atonement for sin, the only Mediator between God and men, the true God and eternal life.”- John Newton, Letters of John Newton
