Outdoor Wednesday ~

Please visit Susan at A Southern Daydreamer to see the great outdoors around Bloggy World.

On my way home from my morning walk with Willow I spotted this Egret in the most peculiar spot.

This is a patch of dirt just below the 101 Freeway in Camarillo that eventually runs into some farmland north of here.

Portal to Hogwarts?

I think we’ve found a way to reach Hogwarts from the Northwest. I love this mile marker on the Sammamish River Trail. I rushed towards it but nothing happened… but I think I’m way too old for Hogwarts.

So at 12:01 a.m. July 15th  you can go see the latest Harry Potter Movie to hit the big screen. I’ll be in bed. I choose to go to theaters when I am awake. My daughter and a few of my nieces, nephews, and SIL will be in the theater tonight in Washington and California. Only one more book that is being made into two films after this one…(thanks for correcting me, Sara) :0)

Friday’s Fave Five

It’s Friday and time to recall our favorites from this past week. Head over to Susanne’s at Living to Tell the Story to participate or see some favorites.

It was wonderful to have morning walks this week with Willow without our typical June Gloom. The skies were bright and we even had a few clouds mixed in with the blue!

The hydrangeas are blooming full right now and they always make me smile.

The birds are so much more active and visible when we walk in the morning. I’m happy when they sit still long enough for me to snap a photo.

I really have become a person who loves photography. If I can be out with my camera I’m a happy camper. I kept getting closer and closer to this critter trying not to scare it off it’s perch.

I’m not a sit on the beach all day kind of person but I do love early morning walks on the beach. Seeing any beach wildlife is such a bonus.

Looking forward to seeing your favorites from the last week later in the day. I’m driving across town this morning to take my Pop and Mom out for a Father’s Day breakfast with my sister Kathy. Have a wonderful Father’s Day and beginning of Summer weekend everyone!

Friday’s Fave Fives ~ Memorial Weekend

My favorites for this week are all from Seattle. Sweet Susanne from Living to Tell the Story is our gracious hostess for this event. Click on over to join in or to see more favorites!

1. Enjoying time with our kids. We ate together, shopped at Goodwill together, worked together, watched soccer together, and played Rock Band together. Fun times.

2. Enjoying the Sunshine in Seattle. There’s nothing like a sunshiny day in the Seattle Area. It was even warmer than Camarillo.

3. Getting our house semi-organized now that the tile is down in the basement. We were able to move things back to where they belong and freed up our guest room area again. We still have a lot to do in the basement to call it “done”.  That will be our summer project.

4. Eating out after all our hard work instead of eating in and creating more dishes to wash :0)

5. Walks in the Seattle area when it’s a little cloudy with the sun peeking through…wonderful. Click here to see all the birds I saw at Juanita Bay Park.

Hope you all have had a good week. I look forward to reading about your favorites!

Juanita Bay Park ~ Bird Watching…

My last day at home in Washington I took an early morning walk at Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland, Washington. I saw a few birds I hadn’t seen before. Besides the Heron and duck I’m not sure what the other birds are. I’ll have to go back to the park in the Summer when I’ll be in Washington again and ask one of the volunteers at the park the names of these birds.

I’m pretty sure this is a Red Winged Blackbird…

We got back to the Condo in California last night after 9 PM. We’re having some classic May grey days here in Southern California. Tomorrow is my last day of our Women’s Bible Study before our Summer break. I’m getting a centerpiece and gifts ready for my table. I hope to take some photos to share later. Have a great Friday everyone!

Outdoor Wednesday ~ May

For my outdoor photos this week I took a little trip to Pt. Mugu to practice with my new camera. I was hoping for some good crashing wave action to test out my quick clicking feature. (that’s not the technical term but I’m just not savvy enough to know what that function is really called)

The beach was lovely as usual. I walked above a rock outcrop to see how the waves were crashing…

It really was fun to be able to click away with no pauses in between!

This was the best splash during my time here.

While waiting for more crashing waves I captured these pelicans coasting by…

In my neck of the woods and all along the road to get to Pt. Mugu there are farmlands. On my way home I stopped at the side of the road to get a shot of this pretty sight. I also passed rows of Strawberries and Artichokes.

Later in the day when Willow and I were walking we saw these lizards enjoying the sunshine. “Here lizard, lizard, lizard”… (does anyone remember that taco bell commercial with the talking chihuahua??)

Happy Outdoor Wednesday everyone and thank you Susan for being such a great hostess. Click over to A Southern DayDreamer to see more of the outdoors around the world…

Three or More ~ Pelicans

My three or more this week are photos I took of Pelicans we saw this last Saturday at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura.

For more Three or More visit Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner.

Saturday ~ Beach Gatherings…

So not as early as usual Dear and I headed to Emma Wood State Beach for our Saturday morning stroll. Today we were blessed with seeing an over abundance of Pelicans just hanging out on the sand. There were plenty flying over the water, too!

Later in the day we headed south to Long Beach for a mini-reunion with my high school class of 1968! We met at a restaurant on the water and tried to remember names and faces. It was fun to see good ole friends.

Our class of ’68 really was a great group of people. We were commenting on what a rich melting pot we were. We had a large Jewish, Armenian, Russian, Mexican, and Japanese population at our school. This varied population really added to our rich high school experience. 1968 was a very emotionally charged period in the history of our country. A couple major historical tragedies that occurred just before we graduated were the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bobby Kennedy.

And 41 years later it was great to re-connect and have conversations with these friends!

Friday’s Fave Five ~ Food again???

Happy May Everyone!

Well I was going to be in Cancun today and not able to participate in our Fave Five but circumstances beyond anyone’s control changed our plans. So I’m still at my nice little condo in Southern California…blogging. Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is our hostess for this great weekly event. Visit her to join in or see other favorites.

So what is it about me and food? Food is topping much of my list this week but to cut me a break it’s not just the food but the other people around me while I’m eating good food that I enjoy.

1. I really like to eat breakfast out with Dear! Before we helped my niece and her husband move last Saturday we stopped at the Egg Plantation in Newbury Park. They have over a 100 Omelets on their menu including other things! I had Chiliquiles…yum. We really needed this great breakfast to keep us going while we packed up and unpacked the truck for the move.

2. After our trip to Cancun was cancelled I decided to “get away” to Main street in Ventura to do a little Thrift store shopping. Such a fun thing for me to do. While in Ventura I stopped at 71 Palm a French Country Restaurant for a little lunch. I had a wonderful soup with asparagus and spinach and a fresh beet, goat cheese and walnut salad.

3. I made semi-homemade chili for dinner last night and baked some corn bread to go with it. Dear was in the mood for chili earlier in the week and I decided to make it for him! I love my chili with fresh tomato, cilantro, green onions and cheese thrown on top! Last night we added some avocado, too.

4. Willow and I have seen some fun sights this week on our walks. We are seeing some great colorful evidences of Spring.

5. Also from our walk we saw this Quail sitting on top of this flimsy tree. It was really kind of peculiar. He sat there long enough to take several shots…
