I Sing the Mighty Power of God ~ Hymn

I Sing the Mighty Power of God

I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.

There’s not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.

Friday’s Fave Five ~ January 8th

Looking back at this week and remembering some favorites. Visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in with your favorites!

We arrived back in Southern California on Sunday night and began the task of getting used to being here in the south.

1. On Tuesday morning Willow and I resumed our walks in her neighborhood. It was good to walk again and to push ourselves up those hills. We had clear, sunny, crisp weather for our walk.

2. On Wednesday I drove to Pt. Mugu because I wanted some winter shots of the beach. I never tire of seeing the beach and hearing the waves break. God has really created beautiful things for us to enjoy.

3. I made a quick stop into the local Goodwill and was able to pick up 7 Johnson Bros. dinner plates in the Asiatic Pheasant pattern that my SIL has been looking for. I asked them to lower the price on each plate since I was buying all 7 and they agreed! Yippee…

4. I made Ree Durmmond’s White Chili this week and it was really good. I recommend the recipe to you. I forgot to take a picture for you but click on over and you’ll see lots of pictures…

5. NEW SHOES! I’m so happy with my new shoes that I found at good ole Fred Meyer when I was in Washington. I wanted shoes I could slip on and wear with jeans that weren’t white tennies!! They are very comfortable and give me the support I need. They are Sketchers and I got them on sale with an extra $10.00 off.

Hope you are having a good week. I’m trying real hard not to get Dear’s ick that has been keeping him home from work this week…I just might be losing that battle, ugh!

Friday ~ Finding Beauty

Claudia at Dipity Road is starting a new meme for Friday called Finding Beauty. Click on over to check it out and join in if you’d like…

After I returned to the condo in Southern California from our home in Washington State I felt the need to hit the beach and catch some of the winter beauty here in Southern California. This was taken at Pt. Mugu on Wednesday of this week.

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus ~ Hymn

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus – Samuel Francis (1834 – 1925)

O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me.
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of His love
Leading onward leading homeward,
To Thy glorious rest above

O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Spread His praise from shore to shore.
How he loveth ever loveth
changeth never, nevermore.

How He watcheth o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth o’er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Love of ev’ry, love the best!
‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing,
‘Tis a haven sweet of rest.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus
‘Tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me, Lord, to Thee!

“““““““`

This is one of my favorite hymns. The words are so rich and the minor key that it is written in takes me back to my Russian heritage.

Friday’s Fave Five ~

Our first full week of May is complete already! Boy time flies when you’re gaining weight. Oops that just slipped out…

It’s time to join Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and post our 5 favorites from this past week. Here we go…

These early Saturday morning walks on the beach always make it into my favorites. Last Saturday was a breezy cold morning with threats of rain.

On Saturday afternoon Dear and I drove south to attend a mini high school reunion from my class of 1968. I was so thrilled when my friend Bet walked in. We hadn’t seen each other since my wedding…

Early in the week I drove out to Pt. Mugu to practice using my big camera. I had a good time and have posted several photos already from my time there.

I really enjoy thrift store shopping and I get excited when I find goodies like this.

I almost made it through this week without mentioning food but here I go again! I enjoyed baking this for my Women’s Friday Bible Study group. I got the recipe from the Mennonite Girls Can Cook blog here.

Hope everyone is doing well and found lots to be thankful for this week. Blessings…

WFW ~ Luke 12: 23-26

For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens; they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Oh how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?

Outdoor Wednesday ~ May

For my outdoor photos this week I took a little trip to Pt. Mugu to practice with my new camera. I was hoping for some good crashing wave action to test out my quick clicking feature. (that’s not the technical term but I’m just not savvy enough to know what that function is really called)

The beach was lovely as usual. I walked above a rock outcrop to see how the waves were crashing…

It really was fun to be able to click away with no pauses in between!

This was the best splash during my time here.

While waiting for more crashing waves I captured these pelicans coasting by…

In my neck of the woods and all along the road to get to Pt. Mugu there are farmlands. On my way home I stopped at the side of the road to get a shot of this pretty sight. I also passed rows of Strawberries and Artichokes.

Later in the day when Willow and I were walking we saw these lizards enjoying the sunshine. “Here lizard, lizard, lizard”… (does anyone remember that taco bell commercial with the talking chihuahua??)

Happy Outdoor Wednesday everyone and thank you Susan for being such a great hostess. Click over to A Southern DayDreamer to see more of the outdoors around the world…

ABC Wednesday ~ Pacific Ocean

Welcome to ABC Wednesday.

P is for the Pacific Ocean

We live about 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean. It’s such a blessing to be able to jump in the car and be at the ocean in 10 minutes! This is the Pt. Mugu area on the coast in Southern California.

These first two shots are taken right from the shore.

This is taken from about 25 feet above the water.

This shot is taken on one of our favorite hikes to Scenic Pt. about 450 feet above the Pacific.

For more ABC Wednesday posts visit the ABC Blog.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage and demanding a ransom for me to access them. I’m slowly cleaning up many of my posts where PB have added ugly black and grey boxes where my photos used to be. So frustrating!

Indescribable ~ Worship Song

Indescribable

From the highest of heights
To the depths of the sea
Creation’s revealing your majesty
From the colors of Fall
To the fragrance of Spring
Every creature unique
And the song that it sings
All exclaiming-

Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And you know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God

Who has told every lightening bolt
Where it should go?
Or seen heavenly storehouses
Laden with snow?
Who imagined the sun
And gives source to the light?
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom-

Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And you know them by name
You are amazing, God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart
And you love me the same
You are amazing, God
