I Sing the Mighty Power of God ~ Hymn

I Sing the Mighty Power of God

I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.

There’s not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.

  1. Reading this post and seeing that beautiful collage was already a time of worship! Sure wish we still sang those deeply meaningful hymns at church – at least occasionally. It was good to be here this morning! Have a fabulous Sunday!

  2. This is one of my favorites… Not sure of the original arrangement, but the one I know is so powerful to highlight the lyrics… Thanks for posting!

  3. Ellen: I was just printing out recipes at Memonite Girls Can Cook and realized this is ELLEN HERE! I love that blog! I could spend hours going through all that good stuff!

    Your collage here is lovely and the hymn is FOUNDATIONAL!

  4. Such a beautiful hymn of God’s amazing creation. What a wonderful beacon of light you are. I popped over from my pal’s Miss Spencer’s blog. So glad I did. It’s been an uplifting visit and my heart is full of the wonder of God.
