Saturday ~ Beach Gatherings…

So not as early as usual Dear and I headed to Emma Wood State Beach for our Saturday morning stroll. Today we were blessed with seeing an over abundance of Pelicans just hanging out on the sand. There were plenty flying over the water, too!

Later in the day we headed south to Long Beach for a mini-reunion with my high school class of 1968! We met at a restaurant on the water and tried to remember names and faces. It was fun to see good ole friends.

Our class of ’68 really was a great group of people. We were commenting on what a rich melting pot we were. We had a large Jewish, Armenian, Russian, Mexican, and Japanese population at our school. This varied population really added to our rich high school experience. 1968 was a very emotionally charged period in the history of our country. A couple major historical tragedies that occurred just before we graduated were the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bobby Kennedy.

And 41 years later it was great to re-connect and have conversations with these friends!

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. Love the way you captured all the birds out on the beach. Also great shots of you and your old friends. That is good that you had such a diverse student body. My daughter always had friends from all over the world which I thought was great.

  2. It looks like a fun time was had by all, all day. Including the birds. By the time we got to Ventura most of the birds had flown away. We did stay farther ‘south’ along the pier area, so maybe the birds were all at Emma Wood for a reunion.

  3. Pelicans are interesting as birds go! And, to see so many at one time is thrilling!!
1968….so that is what 41 years later looks like! Looks pretty good to me!!

  4. The garden tour was sponsored by Camarillo Hospice, same group that sponsors the Farmers Market every week. We saw five gardens in three hours in Spanish Hills and out Santa Rosa Road.

  5. Those pelican photos are great.

And….I must say that is a good looking group of high school friends; is it only my imagination, or does our generation look so much younger at this age than our parents did? Probably it’s just a matter of perception…but I like to think it’s us!

  6. Do you stay in contact with these people? I’m just wondering who organized this – it sounds perfect! You look great Ellen!
