Friday ~ Finding Beauty

Claudia at Dipity Road is starting a new meme for Friday called Finding Beauty. Click on over to check it out and join in if you’d like…

After I returned to the condo in Southern California from our home in Washington State I felt the need to hit the beach and catch some of the winter beauty here in Southern California. This was taken at Pt. Mugu on Wednesday of this week.

The Night Before…

the Blue Moon I took these shots. I wanted to be able to photograph the Blue Moon event on the 31st but we were clouded over and rainy all night long…

Today is my last full day in Washington State. We fly back to Southern California tomorrow. Back to reality! I’m putting Christmas back up into the attic and doing a little dusting and washing some linens. Then I get to decide what to pack to take back to the condo. Katie’s car is all fixed from her accident. Dear is one handy guy. He pounded out, replaced the bumper and the tail light and primed and painted and it looks like new! Yesterday and today we’ve gotten some good gusts of wind and lots of rain. We just might have to take the patio cover off today.

So I think I’ve decided I’ll be calling 2010…twenty ten. How about you?  My brother has been writing it MMX.

That’s it for my Saturday ramblings….enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Frosty!

We had a very cold frosty morning in the 20’s and the frost hung around into the afternoon. Brrrrr…

My son and DIL delivered the tree and now all I have to do is put lights on and decorate it. It already smells more like Christmas around here with the tree in it’s place.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Morro Bay & Cambria

It’s time to visit Susan at A Southern DayDreamer to see the outdoor world around the blogisphere. Thank you Susan!

This is the amazing Rock at Morro Bay that is called the Gibraltar of the Pacific. With an extra day this past weekend because of Labor Day Dear and I drove up the coast of California on Saturday to escape the heat and bad air in Southern California.

It was a beautiful breezy day on the Central Coast of California. We had breakfast in Morro Bay, then walked around the Rock and the bay. We spent some time in the downtown area antique and thrift store shopping.

This Pelican almost landed on my head on his descent.

Instead of heading home we decided to drive North a little farther to the beach community of Cambria.

We enjoyed the ambiance of this town. There were pretty gardens and fun shops to walk through.

After our stroll through town we headed down to the beach and had a brisk windy walk.

We left home at 7:00 A.M. and arrived back home at 8:30 P.M. It was a full day!

Ruby Tuesday ~ Cambria

It’s time for Ruby Tuesday and I was happy to find Ruby photos to share. Mary at Work of the Poet is our hostess for this weekly event. Click on the Ruby Slippers to see more red.

On Saturday we drove up the coast to Central California. We enjoyed strolling around Morro Bay and then a little further north to Cambria. Cambria is a charming little town that has lots of fun things to photograph. I haven’t had any red/ruby in my photos for a while but there were plenty ruby moments here. I would love to travel back to this town and spend the night in one of their bed and breakfasts and have tea at the English Tea Room, “The Tea Cozy”.

Happy Ruby Tuesday everyone!

Disneyland With Jack and Miss Hope …

On Wednesday me and a million of my friends showed up at Disneyland. I picked my closest 10 friends to hang out with and they just happened to all be related to me…

My brother Leonard and his wife Mandy along with their daughter Miss Hope flew in for the week so we have lots of fun activities planned. First on the list…conquer Disneyland!

First stop was the Carousel.

My nieces and my twin siblings Leonard and Lana. Melissa, Lana G!, Debbee, Michelle, and Leonard…

Next was “It’s a Small World”

My niece Michelle is due in a month with Jack’s little sister so she made use of this wheel chair. Ryan, Jack’s dad, and Melissa my niece are the designated pushers, transportation assistants.

Miss Hope loves Jackson and Jackson got some practice in dealing with little girls…

Here’s Jackson the Jedi Knight!

The longer we walked around the crowds the worse my photo skills got. I’m glad I at least got these heads in the photo!

The later it got the goofier we got and we started fighting taking turns in that wheel chair!

It’s always nice to get to see my brother’s family and spend extended time with them. Today is beach day (I’m home having rest day) and then on Saturday an Open House and on Sunday a baby shower for Michelle. Fun times…

North and South…

We left our home in Washington Sunday at 5:15 A.M. and made it to our Condo in Southern California at 11:30 P.M. This photo was taken in Southern Washington before we crossed the border into Oregon.

Today I’m unpacking and trying to get organized for the week. We have our daughter and her boyfriend here, too. I’m dodging 2 extra inflatable beds on the floor in the living area and our bedroom. Ben and Katie are busy and away each day doing all the dizzy parks. I’ll have a couple days of floor space this week while they stay with our nieces in Orange County. Wednesday is family day at the “Happiest Place on Earth”. A lot of us are meeting up to spend the day together and see Miss Hope in action.

Hope everyone’s week is going well…

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Silence…

Greetings Robins! Time for your next photo challenge. This challenge was suggested by Monica and it’s more of a concept than a subject. Take a photo that depicts:

Silence

A quiet place, a sign, something lonely, a subject that evokes silence. Lots of possibilities to capture silence in a photo. Look about and listen, you will see silence.

This last week I’ve had some early morning quiet walks along the Sammamish River/Burke Gilman Trail north east of Seattle. My photos are from the trail and of the reading room in Suzzallo Library at the University of Washington where it is silent.

Window Views ~ Adamson House, Malibu

My Window Views this week are all from the Historic Adamson House in Malibu, California.

This is the rear view of the home which is right on the beach in Malibu just north of the Malibu Pier which the original family who owned the home had built.

This is a view from one side of the home.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ El Matador State Beach

It’s almost Wednesday and time for Outdoor Wednesday hosted by Susan at A Southern DayDreamer. I went to explore a beach I’ve never been to before last week. It’s one I’d love to go to again…

You access this beach from a steep dirt path and then some steep stairways.

The rocks were a great visual treat!

It was fun to watch the pelicans fly and land. The cormorants just sat still the whole time I was there. I took lots of photos of the pelicans and I’ve already posted some.

Happy Outdoors to you! Looking forward to seeing your outdoor shots. Here’s hoping Mr. Linky will behave and give Susan a break this week!
