Wrap Up Easter Monday

On Easter Monday morning we and our company decided to walk the Rotary trail while the guys golfed the Rotary golf course. We were hoping to catch glimpses of each other along the way.

After Henry’s Pond we caught a glimpse of the guys across the way.

They drove over to get as close to us as they could.

The littles ran to their dads and Uncle Joshie.

I didn’t have my long lens camera but was able to catch some blurry long distance shots of this pretty bird that is blue.

We had a good time on this cold morning.

Today is the last day of April. It has been a busy April and today I’ll be in the kitchen at church again for the third funeral/memorial service this month. Our church tries to help in any way we can to take some of the burden off the family who’s loved ones have been ushered to heaven. Whatever you can do before your time comes to make arrangements and help with the financial burden would be good to do. My parents paid for their plots and other costs associated with their funerals ahead of time and that was such a relief. The best thing you can do is to make sure you know you are going to be with Jesus. The alternative is not good in any way shape or form. Today is the best time to make peace with God through Jesus Christ.

Goodbye to April and hello to May!

Fun Monday

Gattina is the hostess for Fun Monday and here is her assignment for any of us who want to participate..

She says, “As I am a very curious person, I just want you to show us a picture of your blogging place! Your room or bed or whatever space(s) or place(s) you have to write your posts.”

My husband is working in Southern California and we chose to keep our home in the State of Washington because we would love to re-locate there in the future. So in the mean time we have a small 1 bedroom condo in Southern California. My space to blog is in the center of our living area space. My computer and work area is on the dining room table.

My views from my blogging space are the kitchen right in front of me and the living room to the left of me.

When we are going to have company I just put the lap top away.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I posted on my blog from 2007-2015 hostage and replaced them with big black and grey boxes with threats. So discouraging…as I’m slowly trying to clean up thousands of posts!

Fun Monday ~ A Favorite Photograph

For Fun Monday we are suppose to share our favorite photograph. A lot of my favorite photographs are taken on the walks my husband and I take early in the morning on Saturdays. I have so many favorites I decided to choose the Beach wave category this time and this is one of my favorite captures of a wave at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, California. I took this photo in February of this year…

The Lurchers are the hosts this week so click on over and see some more Photo Favorites.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

Fun Monday ~ Walls

Jan from the Prytz Family is hosting Fun Monday on June 16th. She says… The subject is walls. We all have walls of some sort. What I want to hear about and see, if you’re going to show off your amazing photo skills, is what is on your walls, what color are your walls, what is special about them, what is your favorite or least favorite, is it inside or outside.

I am very fortunate to be married to a talented man who was a professional house painter in a former life. He has moved on to a new profession but his skills remain amazing in choosing and applying paint. I chose to show you the walls in our 1 bedroom condo in California. Our living room is a tan color. It was a can of Ralph Lauren oops paint from Home Depot ($5.00). My favorite print on the wall in the living room is our skyline/waterfront of Downtown Seattle. I really like the Blessed Tin Sign and the candle holder on the Norwegian Blue that the kitchen area is painted.

We really love checking the oops paint when we’re ready to paint. The Kitchen is another color that we found in the oops bin. Norwegian Blue for $5.00 a gallon.

Our bedroom and bathroom are a color called Mother Nature and we paid full price for it. No nice greens in the oops pile this time. This water color on the wall is done by Dear’s Aunt Carol.

It’s hard to get the photo to show the true color. The color reflected in the mirror is truer to the color.

This is part of an old dresser from my grandmother. We salvaged it and Dear added a shelf to the bottom of it and it is hanging in our dining area of the condo. The photograph reflected in the mirror is a self portrait of our daughter. She completed this for an art project in college.

Hope you enjoyed the little tour of my condo. Remember not to be afraid of painting your walls. You can always re-paint if the color is really bad or when you get tired of it :0)

For more Fun Monday Walls head over to Jan’s.

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage. They have blacked out all those photos on my blog posts. OH BOTHER! I’m slowly cleaning up my posts.

Fun Monday ~ Happy Childhood Memory

Molly is hosting Fun Monday this week. She says…

I have the great honor of hosting Fun Monday this coming Monday, June 9th. For your assignment tell us about a happy memory from your childhood. If you have pictures, please show us your pictures.

When I was little the cousins would all pile into one car and head up to Big Bear, California or another mountain destination and camp. I’m the one sitting on the table. These were happy childhood memories.

On the bench in front: Valia my cousin, my sister Vera, my cousin Walter, my cousin Alex, me on the table, across the table on the bench- my Uncle Paul, my Father, my brother Fred, my sister Kathy standing on the bench. Behind the bench – Mrs. Dorofeiv, Mike Dorofeiv and their child.

Here I am with my father who loved to put jigsaw puzzles together. My sister Kathy is standing behind my dad and me. These days my favorite kind of camping is at the Hilton but I know that the best memories for our kids are the real camping experiences out in the great outdoors. I wish I would have taken my kids on more camping excursions…

This is my cousin Valia and me. We spent lots of time with each other while I was growing up. My maternal grandmother lived with them so we were over there a lot. This photo was taken at Easter.

Here’s that same cousin with her daughter and granddaughter. I got to see her this last Saturday at a baby shower for her DIL. One of our projects while at the shower was to create something on a onesie for the baby that’s due in July. Yikes I’m not really artistic or crafty but here is what I came up with. Good thing babies wear onesies under their regular outer wear!

Fun Monday ~ Vacations

Alison is hosting Fun Monday today. Here is her assignment…

Vacations…this is the time of year when most of us go on vacations. Show us and/or tell us about your favorite vacation – where you went, what you did, etc. Pictures would be great. Let’s all take a trip around the world via our FM friends!!

My favorite vacations have been to Great Britain.

In 2004 we took our daughter on a literary tour of Great Britain for her graduation gift. We visited places of inspiration for C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Austen, and Monty Python???! Too see more of this tour click here.

In 2006 we took a walking tour with our dear friends with stops in Wales, The Lake District, Oban, Edinburgh, and York. To see the highlights of this tour click here.

Fun Monday ~ Favorite Walk

Here’s our assignment from Angela at the Lurchers for this week.

“I’m going to make it a nice and easy Fun Monday this week. All I want you to do is take me on your favourite walk. In words or pictures. Or both of course! Tell me why it’s your favourite and point out things of interest on the way.”

My husband and I have two wonderful walks that we do early on Saturday mornings. Our walk along the beach at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, California.

The beauty of the Pacific Ocean, the fresh salt air, all of God’s beautiful splendor, what a wonderful stimulation for all our senses.

Then we have another choice close by. Our second favorite is in the Santa Monica Mountains that are in our backyard. In Sycamore Canyon we have several hiking trails with different elevations to choose from. On the Scenic Trail we again are able to see the Pacific Ocean when we reach the top…

We enjoy both of these walks/hikes because we are generally all alone going as early as we do. It’s quiet except for the birds and the crashing of the waves. We see different and interesting plants and wildlife.

It’s great to get away from the neighborhood and into the “wild”.

And look what Anni gave me today. I love her graphics and this one is so darn cute! Thanks Hootin Anni!

Fun Monday ~ What Was & Is Worth It…

Southern Doll is hosting Fun Monday this week and she has the following assignment. What have you done in your life that was worth doing?

I know that as soon as I publish this there will be other things that come to mind. I decided to start with high school and move on from there.

The thing in high school that was worth doing was getting baptised in my junior year. I started a more dedicated journey following Christ at this point in my life and would never turn back.

During my College years I was part of a Christian Rock band. I met Dear in this group and we became engaged and then married in 1974. We went on two summer tours in England together with the group which was an amazing experience in travel and ministry.

Getting a College Degree and a Teaching Credential was worth doing.

Getting married to Dear was and is definitely worth doing and we’ve been doing it for 33 years. Oops! I think I just probably embarrassed my children and myself by accident.

Having each of our three children was worth it big time in my life. Each of them is unique and I thank God for their individual gifts and personalities.

Developing close friendships and opening our home for fun and fellowship and spending loving times with my extended family has been worth it.

Much of this time is spent around food!

Moving to Seattle in 1988 and raising our children there and developing friendships there was worth it.

Starting a blog and meeting bloggy friends around the world has been worth it.

Growing older with Dear and being faithful to our marriage is worth it.

Fun Monday ~ First Celebrity Crush?

Oh boy is this one going to age me. Actually I’m aging just fine with no help 🙂

There probably was someone on the Mouseketeers that I had a crush on in the 50’s and early 60’s. Then there was Ricky Nelson (Ozzie and Harriett) that I might have had a crush on but the first out there in public crush that I had was for the Beatles. I think I liked them all but Ringo was my favorite. I sat there and watched them on the debut in the U.S. on the Ed Sullivan show. I was giddy with delight! I learned all their songs by heart and went to see all their movies.

Fun Monday ~ Quotable quotes and words that inspire

Robin at Pensieve has chosen this theme for today’s Fun Monday.

Quotable quotes and words that inspire.

Here are a couple of quotes for you. One from a Russian and one for an admired American.

“How easy it is for me to live with you, Lord!
How easy it is for me to believe in you!
When my mind is distraught and my reason fails,
When the cleverest people do not see further than this
evening what must be done tomorrow
You grant me the clear confidence
that you exist, and that you will take care
that not all the ways of goodness are stopped.
At the height of earthly fame I gaze with wonder at
that path through hopelessness-
to this point from which even I have been able
to convey to men some reflection of the Light
which comes from you.”

-Alexander Solshenitsyn

Solshenitsyn: A Pictorial Record, 1974

“All the masterpieces of art contain both light and shadow. A happy life is not one filled only with sunshine, but one which uses both light and shadow to produce beauty.”

Billy Graham

Day by Day with Billy Graham, 1976
