A Walk Downtown

Last Friday I had a few hours by myself downtown with my camera. The weather was sunny with a few puffy clouds but cold.

The walk from the Pyramid Alehouse Restaurant across from Safeco Field to Harbor Steps across from the Art Museum was 2 miles round trip. I got a good dose of vitamin D. Later in the evening at the Sounders Soccer game at Qwest field the weather turned to rain. I’ll show the rest of my photos from my downtown Seattle walk during this coming week.

Hope your Sunday is going well. We are enjoying the aroma of Baby Back ribs that have been smoked for several hours and are now in the oven continuing to cook smothered in barbecue sauce. I’M HUNGRY. We’ll eat when Josh and Laura stop by shortly.

I’m linking to Mosaic Monday hosted by Mary at Little Red House.

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Mosaic Monday ~ Birthday Dinner

Last Monday March 14th my kids and Dear surprised me with a limo ride to my birthday dinner in downtown Seattle. At the restaurant there was a drink on the menu named Ellen. I had to order it just because…

From Saturday night here is the Super moon, a full moon that happens to be close to the earth.  These are my little camera views, a tripod and a different camera might have captured more detail…

To see more Mosaics today and through Monday visit Mary at Little Red House.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Are you wearing green today?

Do you make a special Irish dish to serve for dinner on this day?

Do you have a favorite Irish saying?

Have you ever been to Ireland?

Do you have any Irish relatives?

Have you ever attended a céilis? Céilis are held in large towns and country districts where young and old enjoy group dances.

We’ll be having corned beef and cabbage tonight along with some Guinness. I’m thinking I should try a good Irish stew recipe soon, too.

From 2008 at Fado an Irish Pub in downtown Seattle…

An Old Celtic Blessing

May the blessing of light be on you –
light without and light within.
May the blessed sunlight shine on you
and warm your heart
till it glows like a great peat fire.

If Only I Was a Poet…

…I’d write a little something about Icicles.

These icicles formed off the edge of our gazebo cover. Some of you might be wondering why we didn’t store our cover in the garage for the winter. I have no idea why we didn’t do that but at this point it might as well stay put.

I know people that live in areas where their winters are harsher then ours have way more impressive icicles. Dear was at the Home Depot this morning because he’s working on yet another project in this old house. It is 20 degrees out there. So when the snow off the hood of his car melted in the Home Depot parking lot it formed icicles on the front end of his car. Sure wish he carried a camera everywhere like I do.

I spotted this cutie in our neighborhood. I’m taking a wild guess and saying a little girl created her!

About that project Dear is working on…it involves moving a gas line so he has the gas shut off right now so our little gas stove and gas fireplace insert are off right now, too. Did I mention it’s 20 degrees out?

What kind of temps and weather are you having today?

Waiting to See…

…if we’ll get more of this on Wednesday.

Maybe I’ll have some real snow photos to show tomorrow! Our weather people sure are excited while predicting inches of the white stuff. Stay tuned…time will tell.

Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe?

I was born on a Wednesday and this is just not true about me.  One evening this week we were talking about what day of the week we were born on and the old rhyme…

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

Well come to find out Dear was born on a Wednesday, too. All three of our children were born on Friday. Our daughter in law was born on a Sunday. Our future SIL was born on a Wednesday. So what day of the week were you born on?

We are getting some dry days with sun peeking out here and there. We hope to take advantage of the dryness to get some outside work done. On Tuesday I pruned the pear tree. We’re hoping to prune the apple tree and get the flag pole installed before the weekend is over. I have 3 different flags for my flag pole. I hope to be able to show them to you soon.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Mosaic Blue ~ Sleepless in Seattle…

Remember the fun floating houses in Sleepless in Seattle? My daughter and I were checking on a wedding venue on Lake Union and enjoyed seeing these floating houses.

I’m linking up with Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday and Sally at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday.

So…are you/did you watch the Super Bowl? We had it on and enjoyed some homemade guacamole and Reuben sandwiches while watching with one eye. Tip for the day…try grilled onions on your Reuben, delicious!

Here’s one more bonus photo that qualifies as blue and a mosaic all by itself!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Perfect Peace ~ Hymn

Perfect Peace

In perfect peace, O gracious Lord,
No fears my heart molest,
For Thou, whose voice controls the deep,
Can soothe my care to rest.

Refrain

Thy perfect peace Thou givest me,
My ever present Guide;
Thy perfect peace thou leavest me—
What can I ask beside?

In perfect peace from day to day
I learn Thy righteous will,
And with a love that questions not,
Obey and follow still.

Refrain

In perfect peace the clouds I view,
The gathering storm I see,
For Thou hast taught my soul to know
It shall be well with me.

Refrain

In perfect peace, O gracious Lord,
Till life’s last hour shall close,
I’ll sing Thy goodness o’er and o’er,
And on Thy love repose.

Refrain

We Shall Shine as the Stars ~ Hymn

We Shall Shine as the Stars

We may tarry awhile here as strangers,
Unnoticed by those who pass by;
But the Savior will crown us in glory,
To shine as the stars in the sky.

Refrain

We shall shine as the stars of the morning,
With Jesus the Crucified One;
We shall rise to be like Him forever,
Eternally shine as the sun.

We may never be rich in earth’s treasures,
Nor rise on the ladder of fame;
But the saints will at last be rewarded,
Made rich in Immanuel’s Name.

Refrain

We may live in a tent or a cottage,
And die in seclusion alone;
But the Father Who seeth in secret,
Remembers each one of His own.

Refrain

It’s a Bird, it’s a Plane, no…

…it’s the sun!

We finally had a full day of sun on Wednesday so I packed my camera and headed out to document the golden orb and it’s effect on some of our landscape.

These photos were taken at Log Boom Park on Lake Washington.

I found out this is a male Bufflehead Duck thanks to Bev. Thank you Bev!

Ahhh…that was nice and it’s enough to get me through our next couple days of rain that are in the forecast.
