Tablescape Tuesday ~ Celebrations!

Before I dive into some old and new Christmas Tablescapes I have a couple fun tables from the long Thanksgiving Weekend. I’m at my home in the Seattle area instead of at the Condo in Southern California right now and we’ve had some fun celebrations with my kids and extended family. My brother and SIL from California have been here with us in Washington for Thanksgiving Weekend.

My SIL Letty is Mexican and she was cooking us a homemade Mexican meal so my sister Lana G! and my daughters decided to create an impromptu Mexican themed scape. We had a lot of good laughs creating this one. We went with the red, green, and white colors from the Mexican Flag. The cervesas were mandatory for a good Mexican scape according to my SIL Letty! The red and black center fabric on the table is actually one of my daughters skirts.

Here’s proof that people sometimes even sit and eat at my scaped tables :0)

My DIL Laura is celebrating a big birthday this next week and before our company and Dear and I left town we decided to do a birthday celebration on Sunday night. We went with a simple tablescape. I hadn’t made a turkey yet because we were invited to friends on Thanksgiving so I made the turkey and all the trimmings for Laura’s birthday dinner.

For those of you who were wondering if I’d ever get around to cooking while I was home here’s the proof. We enjoyed another meal around our table and for Laura’s birthday cake I made the Pumpkin Praline Trifle that I posted before on the blog.

It’s been wonderful to be with my adult children during my time in Washington. I’m here until Saturday the 6th of December and then I head back to California.

When Shades of Night Around Us Close ~ Advent Hymn

When Shades of Night Around Us close

When shades of night around us close,
And weary limbs in sleep repose,
The faithful soul awake may be,
And longing sigh, O Lord, to Thee.

Thou true Desire of nations, hear,
Thou Word of God, Thou Savior dear;
In pity heed our humble cries,
And bid at length the fallen rise.

O come, Redeemer, come and free
Thine own from guilt and misery;
The gates of Heav’n again unfold,
Which Adam’s sin had closed of old.

All praise, eternal Son, to Thee,
Whose advent sets Thy people free,
Whom with the Father we adore
And Holy Ghost forevermore.

Tea and Fiesta in Washington

After our very successful trip to Goodwill the ladies arrived at Madame Fifi’s Tea Room at Country Village in Bothell for an Afternoon Tea.

Madame Fifi (Christine) had our lovely room all ready for us. The usual after Thanksgiving Goodwill shoppers were in attendance and this year we inducted Pat (my DIL Laura’s mother) into the group.

We each chose our tea and enoyed a relaxing time.

Our sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, and sweets were divine! After all this loveliness one would think we didn’t need any more food on this day but…

My SIL Letty made us a fabulous Mexican dinner. She made refried beans, Mexican rice, salsa, and carnitas for us all to enjoy. YUM! Ejola it was muy bueno!!

We capped off the night with a movie all cuddled up on the couch!

I don’t know how much longer I can keep up this pace but I’m enjoying every minute of my time in Washington with my family. Have a wonderful weekend…

A Shopping We Will Go…

But before the ladies head out on their annual Day After Thanksgiving Trip to the Goodwill I wanted to post some photos from our Thanksgiving Day Festivities…

The Day started off with a beautiful Sunrise.

We joined the Spiro family and friends for the Thanksgiving meal.

The court jesters created another group game for everyone to enjoy.

We slept off the effects of the turkey and now we’re off and running to see what deals we can find and then we are headed to Madame Fifi’s for tea at 1:00. The fun just never stops. See you soon…

Thankful in Washington…

What fun we had waiting together at the Long Beach Airport for our flight to Seattle. My brother Tim and his wife Letty, my sister Lana, and Dear. We were all set and ready to go in total vacation attitude. Seattle here we come.

Got home to a very clean house with fresh linens on Dear and my bed and in the Guest room for our Thanksgiving company, Tim and Letty. Thank you Katie! The maple tree has lost all it’s leaves and our son Dan had them all raked up and the yard looked nice. The pot belly stove is warming up the house and we are settling in for a wonderful holiday with family and friends. The view from my bedroom window couldn’t be better!

I hope you all have a wonderful extended weekend here in the U.S.A. and enjoy your turkey and all the trimmings with joy and thanksgiving. Blessings…

In the morning, O Lord, you will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to you and eagerly watch.

Trash to Treasure Tuesday

Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words hosts this Tuesday Meme called Trash to Treasure.  Click over to see lots of trash/thrift items bought or saved and turned into a treasure.

This week I’m showing my Dresser Mirror that I saved before it was sent away with a Christmas themed arrangement I placed on the added shelf on the bottom of the mirror. My husband added the shelf to it before we hung it on the wall. If you saw my Blue Monday or Tablescape Tuesday you’ll see a lot of the items from my Blue Christmas table re-grouped here. This will serve as my Christmas mantle at the condo.

The gold pieces are ornaments for the tree as is the Santa. The Pewter creamers are filled with Christmas Sprays in blue and crystal and silver. Here’s a collage with closeups of the items on the shelf. Now just so y’all know we at our house know that Santa is pretend and we love him in a pretend way but above that we know Jesus is real and saves us from what we deserve and then gives us our Hope and our future. We love Him in a real way…

If you live in the USA I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. To everyone else have a great last week of November.

Blue Monday and Tablescape Tuesday!

This is a busy week for many of us here in the U.S.A. with Thanksgiving on Thursday. I’m going to combine my Blue Monday Post with my Tablescape Tuesday Post because my tablescape is predominately blue. I’m flying up North to Seattle on Tuesday and I’m busy getting all my ducks in a row…

I set this table for two putting together anything blue and gold that I had at our condo in Southern California.

I just picked up the Santa and the Gold large floral ornaments at my favorite little thrift store in town. The Snowflake napkins and Tablecloth are Big K Martha Stewart that were clearanced after Christmas last year. I also purchased the snowflake napkin rings at the Christmas clearance.

The Blue holly dishes are Target Christmas clearance from a couple years ago. The blue beaded sprays are also from Target clearance. The glasses, which I love the shape of, are from my favorite little thrift store. I was sorry they only had two, but most days it’s just the two of us here in the condo anyway.

So if you’d like to see more Blue Monday click over to Sally’s on Monday and if you’d like to see more Tablescapes click over to Susan’s on Tuesday!
