Tablescape Tuesday ~ Celebrations!

Before I dive into some old and new Christmas Tablescapes I have a couple fun tables from the long Thanksgiving Weekend. I’m at my home in the Seattle area instead of at the Condo in Southern California right now and we’ve had some fun celebrations with my kids and extended family. My brother and SIL from California have been here with us in Washington for Thanksgiving Weekend.

My SIL Letty is Mexican and she was cooking us a homemade Mexican meal so my sister Lana G! and my daughters decided to create an impromptu Mexican themed scape. We had a lot of good laughs creating this one. We went with the red, green, and white colors from the Mexican Flag. The cervesas were mandatory for a good Mexican scape according to my SIL Letty! The red and black center fabric on the table is actually one of my daughters skirts.

Here’s proof that people sometimes even sit and eat at my scaped tables :0)

My DIL Laura is celebrating a big birthday this next week and before our company and Dear and I left town we decided to do a birthday celebration on Sunday night. We went with a simple tablescape. I hadn’t made a turkey yet because we were invited to friends on Thanksgiving so I made the turkey and all the trimmings for Laura’s birthday dinner.

For those of you who were wondering if I’d ever get around to cooking while I was home here’s the proof. We enjoyed another meal around our table and for Laura’s birthday cake I made the Pumpkin Praline Trifle that I posted before on the blog.

It’s been wonderful to be with my adult children during my time in Washington. I’m here until Saturday the 6th of December and then I head back to California.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage and demanding a ransom for me to access them. I’m slowly cleaning up many of my posts where PB have added ugly black and grey boxes where my photos used to be. So frustrating!

  1. Good Morning Ellen B.,

You and your family always have the best celebrations with the cutest themes! The skirt in the center is too funny. I would never have guessed it was a skirt while admiring it’s darling shape. I hope no one spilled hot sauce on it :(.

    Have a wonderful day!

  2. Now, Ellen – using a skirt for the tablecloth — that is simply TOO creative. It was funny that, the first thing I notice under the hat was the ruffled thingie, and thought that was really cool. I thought you using the duvet cover was cool enough… but a skirt, that gives me some ideas for future tablescapes! 🙂

Lovely birthday dinner. Happy Birthday to Laura, and may the Lord continue to richly bless her! I love the trailing ivy on the table.

I hope you would enjoy the rest of your stay – you would be able to put up your Christmas stuff now…. 🙂

  3. How wonderful. God is very creative to pop such ideas into our heads—a skirt and bed ruffle for tablescapes—you guys do have such fun. I look forward to what you share. It has made me look at mark downs around town to use beyond their basic use. How wonderful that you get to stay up in Seattle for a while.

  4. You always throw in a surprise. I like the skirt idea.
The gold chargers you used for your DI L’s dinner are really pretty.
The centerpiece in both tablescapes look wonderful.
It is obvious from the pictures that a good time was had by all at both gatherings.

  5. 1. Happy BIG Birthday, Laura!
    2. What are cervesas?
    3. I see some gravy on those potatoes….you’ll have to talk to Ryan about that one!!! :+)
    4. Great table scapes and sooooo much family fun!

Hi MLou!! Cervesa is beer :0)

  6. You have come up with some pretty tablescapes there. Looks like everyone had a blast this past weekend. How fun for you guys. Have a safe trip home! Or rather back to Southern California. Or your other home?

  7. Happy Birthday to her! Her cake looks yummy! Love those green glasses. I’m so mad at myself for not buying them b/4 they were clearanced out…lesson learned! The ‘hispanic’ tablescape is nice too!

  8. Oh that Mexican tablescape is just so fun! And your daughter’s birthday party was beautiful. Loved getting two inspiring tablescapes in one visit. laurie

  9. Wow! Both are fabulous! You payed such attention to every little detail, making two very outstanding tablescapes! 🙂 ~Rhonda

  10. Oh if I had to choose a favorite from the two the Mexican table is it – it is awesome. Everything is put together so well, it’s just perfect.
The second setting is beautiful as well but I’m just a sucker for the unexpected and the Mexican table is…:)
    Have a wonderful evening,
    Tam

  11. What a fun and unique tablescape! Looks like everyone thought so!
Love the Pumpkin Praline Trifle b-d cake! The rest of the food looks yummie, too! So nice to have all your family together!

  12. Ellen…what great tables! Love that you used a skirt in the center…who knew?! The colors were perfect. That trifle looked so yummy. I make a Georgia Peach Bourbon Trifle with real whipped cream…yum! Trifles are so much fun to make and look stunning on a sideboard or table, don’t they? You guys look like y’all had a lot of fun! Happy Birthday to Laura! 🙂 Susan
