Today’s Flowers

Welcome to Today’s Flowers hosted by Luis Santilli Jr. and have fun viewing flowers on blogs around the world. These photos are of flowers we saw on our walk in downtown Ventura, California last Saturday.

Thanks to Abe Lincoln I now know that these flowers are called Indian Blanket!

Pink Saturday ~ Store and Houses

It’s time for another PINK Saturday and I couldn’t resist showing you this store at the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks and some houses we walked by on Main St. and just off Main in Ventura, California.

I’m going to admit to y’all that I didn’t go into the store because I was just speeding through the mall that day to get in some extra steps for my walking totals.

The following houses were fun discoveries when my husband and I decided to stroll through this part of downtown Ventura last Saturday.  We saw a lot of great old houses but I’m only sharing the PINK ones…

The house that is shown in the top row of the collage is for Rent and the sign says that it is the oldest house in Ventura.

Do you think it would be fun to live in this pink house?

Oh and I’m experimenting with a new program that is more creative with collages. Here’s my first attempt.

I’ll be doing a lot more experimenting this week. Have a fabulous Saturday everyone. I’m headed to an Open House for my niece’s 30th birthday!

For more Pink Saturday Posts visit our hostess Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.

Fridays Fave 5

Whoohoo! Look at the new beautiful badge to go with Fridays Fave 5. Tia created it for Susanne…

1. One of my favorites this week is listening to good music.

2. One of my favorite meals this week was this Mediterannean Tilapia. Recipe is here.

3. Hearing about cousin get-togethers that are planned for October this year. Two of my nieces from Dear’s side of the family are flying from New York and Los Angeles to spend time with my kids for a cousin reunion in Seattle. Then the 2nd week in October two of my nieces on my side of the family are flying from Los Angeles to Seattle for an Anne of Green Gables Weekend with my girls in Washington. How wonderful is that? It makes my heart glad…

4. Eating breakfast at Allison’s on Saturday after our early morning walk on the beach. Look at the size of those freshly made biscuits! My favorite here is the Mexican Omelette with hot chiles, avocado, tomatoes, cilantro, and cheese. Served with a side of quacamole and beans. Hee, hee, I cut down on calories by ordering the fruit instead of the potatoes. :0) Dear orders the Green Chile Omelette. It comes with a whole green chile on the top and filled with more.

5. Here’s one of my favorite photos from this week. This is from a walk down Main St. in Ventura, California.

So is it just Dear and I or are those door handles taken off a coffin?

To see more Fave 5 or to join in and participate visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story. I’ll be around later after Bible Study this morning. I’m getting a breakfast casserole ready to take to the study. I’ll be sharing that recipe sometime soon. Have a great Friday and weekend everyone…

Early Morning Walk at Emma Wood State Beach

Dear and I arrived for our Saturday walk early again this week and because the tide was too high to walk on our regular route we walked along the dunes in the opposite direction headed toward Surfer’s Point.

After we walked along the dunes we cut across them to the water. This rocky driftwood carpeting is not real easy on the ankles.

This had us scratching our heads wondering “what the heck is it or was it”?

We saw a lot of Godwits and Sanderlings.

This is a section of the beach where the Ventura river empties into the ocean. It was a favorite spot for these herons, seagulls, and godwits.

When we headed back to the dunes to get to our car we were thrilled to see this lone Heron posing for us.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again, we cannot exhaust beautiful views of God’s creation.

Ruby Tuesday ~ Neighborhood Walks

My Ruby Tuesday Photos are again from one of our neighborhood walks.

The plants in the top row are Coleus. I’m not sure what the rest of the plants are called. Happy Ruby Tuesday everyone (even though right now it’s Monday). Next week Maryt is challenging us to find a photo with just a little bit of red in it. Fun!

When I was Little My Mother Gave Me Castor Oil

Were you ever given Castor Oil? Saturday on our walk at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura we found a Castor Bush with clusters of seed pods. When we opened up the pods we found these Castor Seeds. These are what they make Castor Oil from.

We also saw and smelled the Fennel plants. Sweet Fennel is so much more appealing  than Castor oil. I’m not sure what the second yellow plant is and the sweet lavender colored plant is either. It was another great early morning walk on the beach with wonderful views of God’s creation all around us. This next shot was a special treat for us as we walked back to our starting point.

I’ll be posting more photos from this walk. We saw other herons, godwits, and gulls, all together but this heron seemed to be standing alone for us to appreciate.

Photo Hunters ~ Wild

Some Wild views from my walks

I think these are Mule Deer. This is from Willow’s neighborhood, my bloggy walking buddy.

Looking through a space in a wooden fence at a field near my home that is still in it’s wild state.

The Sea, the tide, the shore, the Sea birds, all untamed and wild.

For more Photo Hunters visit tnchick. If you want to see Wild early click over to Carver’s.

Fave Five for Friday

It’s time for Fave Five for Friday. If you want to play along visit Susanne at Living to tell the Story. Here are my favorites since last Friday.

1. Starting with Saturday I have two favorites. The first was a return to the beach with Dear for our early morning Saturday walks at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, California. We were there at 6:30 A.M. and we saw a lot of birds…

2. After our walk we got ready to drive south for a family get-together to visit with my brother Leonard, his wife Mandy and their new daughter Hope. She’s 7 months old and they all live in Dallas so it’s a wonderful event when they come to Southern California for all of us to get our fix!

3. This made me laugh out loud on Monday when I listened to this You-Tube on Mighty Mom’s site. Click here and give a listen. It’s only about 23 seconds long…

No – I don’t think it’s for real but it still is so darn funny!!

4. Dear turned 55 on Tuesday and a highlight of the week was celebrating Him and celebrating with him at a nice Steak house close to us.

5. Today I’m headed to a planning meeting for our new year of Women’s Bible Study. This year I’ll be a table leader so I’m looking forward to the discipline and the friendships that I’ll form with the ladies at my table. We’re studying Grace.

For more Fave Five head over to Susanne’s and consider joining in. Blessings…

Sky Watch #9

My Sky Watch photos this week are all from a morning walk in my neighborhood in Southern California. The mountain you see is in the north western end of the Santa Monica Mountains.
