Busy Times

We’ve had a busy few days with company. We enjoyed a meal together on Memorial Day.  The rest of the week I will be involved with a group garage sale. I didn’t have time to complete the answers to the Hodgepodge questions this week. My usual Thursday, Truth for Today, will not be happening this week. Hope you all have a good end to May and beginning of June. It was fun setting a Memorial day table. I’ll be back next week!

Sweet Pea Table!

I love pink and green. This table was set for ten for a dinner on my niece’s birthday a few years back while she and some of her family were visiting us in August.

The last time I participated in Pink Saturday was back in 2009! I’m in the pink today and it’s raining and I have time to visit some participants so I’m joining in! How Sweet the Sound ~ Pink Saturday with Beverly! Hi Beverly…

What are your plans for the weekend? The only things on our schedule for Saturday and Sunday are church and a soccer event. I woke up this morning to the sound of rain which is a very welcome sound in these parts!

Snow & Ice ~ Tablescape

Kathleen at Cuisine Kathleen hosts a weekly meme called Let’s Dish. This week she challenged us to come up with a scape using the theme of Snow and Ice. Here’s what I came up with…

We sat at a version of this table on Sunday night with our son and his wife to celebrate our son’s birthday. I’m sorry to say I forgot to take photos of our actual dinner…oops! Our dining chairs are off to the upholsterer and we aren’t sure when we’ll be getting them back so we are using some of our folding chairs for the time being.

Here in the Pacific Northwest we’ve had several foggy days. The sun finally made a breakthrough on Tuesday afternoon. We are going to have our rain pattern return for a few days with a dry weekend promised so far. With our freezing fog we’ve had some ice issues. Do you have snow and ice in your neck of the woods?

Halloween Tablescape Thursday…

Today is a fun day in blog world because Susan at Between Naps on the Porch hosts Tablescape Thursday. It’s a chance to set a table and share your ideas with others. It’s fun to see the creativity out there. Because Saturday is Halloween I decided to try to come up with a Halloween Scape.

I found 4 of these cute Pumpkin and Scarecrow Placemats at a thrift store last weekend. I paid $1.95 for all 4. I wanted to show you them before I covered them up with chargers and stuff. The spider dish candle holder was from Target clearance last year and I think I paid about 50 cents for it.

The white chargers with black jewel borders were from T.J. Maxx. The square pumpkin plates are paper from Target. The polka dot napkins and the Pewter forks, knives and spoons were from a thrift store, also.

I don’t have a lot of Halloween accessories but was happy to scrape up enough for a scape :0)

Have a safe and sane Halloween Weekend everyone…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Tea Anyone?

I’m digging this up from my 2007 archives for this week. This setting feels more like Spring then Autumn so just pretend we’re in Australia and g’day mate!   Visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see some fresh scapes!

Tablescape Thursday ~ In the Yard!

When I was at my home in Washington State I thought it would be fun to do a tablescape outdoors. The weather was lovely and I raced against the setting sun to set this table in my front yard. The neighbors are probably wondering about me…

This is a vintage tablecloth that my MIL had in her stash. The hobnob little clear & milky plates are from Dear’s Great, great aunt Emma. The old silver flatware is from Dear’s parents too.

We bought these beautiful daffodils at Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. I loved the fullness of them and the added orange.

Oh and looky here Jack Sparrow and Sparra Queen Warbeak made it into an actual tablescape!

Tablescape Thursday ~ Easter Brunch

My tablescape this week is from my home in Washington State. We had brunch with our children after church on Easter Sunday.

Our traditional Russian Easter Bread ~ Kulich. My sister Lana G! and I baked this by ourselves for the first time this year.

We also made the traditional sweet cheese topping for the bread called Seerney Paska in Russian. The X is the first letter in Russian for Christ and the B is pronounced V in Russian and it stands for Arose. Christ Arose…

Our little bunnies are holding the signs for the reason we celebrate Easter. Again this is written in Russian Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

Here are our children after our yummy brunch of Swedish Pancakes which Dear made for all of us. We had to get the Swedish heritage in there, too.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

If you happen to be on-line today and visit my blog a very Happy Birthday to you Dear Beth! I thank God for bringing our families together through Dan and Jamie!!

When I was at Von’s yesterday buying a few things I spotted these sweet pink heart bowls and plates that they had marked down 60%. I bought two of each and came home inspired to set the bar for a nice Valentine meal for Dear and I. So I’m thinking some steaks, baked potatoes and salad will be good. Got the bubbly chilled so we’re all set to go.

Enjoy your Valentine’s Day and I hope you all feel loved and show love to those in your path today!

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

Pink Saturday ~ Pink & Black Tablescape

This is a little preview of my Pink and Black Tablescape that I put together while home in Washington State. I’m travelling from Washington to San Francisco today to meet up with my husband who is attending a conference there. Today happens to be our 34th Wedding Anniversary and we will be celebrating later at a restaurant in San Francisco. On Tuesday we will both fly back to our Southern California home. I hope to get around later this weekend to see all your pretty pink. Have a wonderful Pink Saturday everyone!
