2nd Time Around Tuesday

I bought this pitcher at Goodwill a few weeks back when I was in the Seattle area. That tablecloth it’s on was purchased at Goodwill, too, last year. I love white pitchers and creamers.

For Blue Monday I wanted to show you one of my favorite Goodwill stores in the state of Washington. This is where I have found so many of my blue goodies over the years. Every time I’m back at my home in Washington I make sure to take a shopping trip here. This is only a very small sampling of the rows of goodies they have. I’m not showing you the clothing sections, book section, furniture section, shoe section, and linen section!! Here are just a few of the thrifty blue items I’ve purchased to be used the 2nd Time Around…

Have a great Monday enjoying blue everyone…

And an early Happy Tuesday to 2nd Time Around!

Friday’s Fave Five ~ Family & Spring…

Oh these Friday’s come so quickly when you’re living life! My favorites this week are leftovers from our time in Seattle. We came home to Southern California Sunday evening after a 3 hour delay due to a dent in a door on our original plane…We then got to fly on the Tinkerbell plane so we all chanted We Believe and clapped and then when the plane finally took off successfully we clapped louder! But this is about favorites….

Absolutely at the very top of my favorites is time spent with our family. Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Signs of Spring popping out all over. Beautiful apple and pear blossoms, clematis blooms, and anything pretty in pink that is blooming. Mama and Daddy duck walking over for a Spring visit…

Shopping at my favorite Goodwill stores in the state of Washington…where I always seem to find sweet treasures!  The baking dish is one of my new purchases.

Having the time to hear my son Dan’s keen sense of humor. He can really make me laugh.

Looking forward to spending a few days with our kids and Dear’s side of the family at our niece’s wedding in Cancun next weekend. I won’t be blogging for Fave Fives next weekend or blogging in general because we’ll be in Cancun.

Bonus Fave!: Getting the news that our son Josh will be down to visit us soon and that we’ll all be going to a Sounders/Chivas soccer game here in Southern California. Ole, ole, ole , ole!!

To see more Favorites from this past week visit Susanne who had lovely Spring weather and then another snowstorm oye, oye oye! Click over to Living to Tell the Story….

2nd Time Around ~ Oscar de la Renta!

Diane at a Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words is the hostess of this weekly event. It’s been a while since I’ve played, not since I’ve shopped 2nd hand mind you but since I posted about my thrift store shopping excursions. While I was at my home in Washington State last week I found this dress that I knew my daughter would love. It was pricey for what I usually spend at Goodwill but I thought that if it fit her it would be a steal at $19.97!

Here are some close-ups of some of the detail. The dress is 100% Silk. The trim on the skirt is feathers, Pheasant Feathers. The pleating and stitching is beautifully done. It fits my daughter perfectly.

My daughter went to the Oscar de la Renta website and found similar dresses to this (none exact) that were selling for $3900-$4600!

She is now antsy for an occasion to wear it to!

Facebook came up with these photos in my memories and I’m happy to be able to put them back in this post. The only photo that is missing is the closeup of the feathers.

Trash to Treasure ~

Diane at A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words hosts a Tuesday Meme called Trash to Treasure. You can click over to her blog and see an explanation.

I was doing some thrift shopping and found these items. Someone took a great old silverplate sugar bowl and made it into a lamp. I thought it would be fun to use in the guest bathroom (our only bathroom) in our condo. It’s a nice soft light that we can keep on while company is over to help them find their way in the dark.

This silver planter/candle holder was another item someone trashed and I thought I could use. Both the lamp and the centerpiece were $4.00 each. These little tea lights that I think are so pretty were $1.00 for the box of 6. I got 2 boxes. Here’s a photo of how I ended up using the planter/candle holder at a recent Open House at the Condo.

Blue Monday

This Vase was a gift to my husband when the company he worked for was purchased by another company and it ceased to be. It was a great company to work for and it was a “Blue” day for sure when this company was no more. It’s a Kosta Boda, designed by Anna Ehrner. It’s from her Atoll collection. Atolls are circular coral islands embracing lagoons in tropical seas. By candlelight, Anna Ehrner’s crystal look like shimmering little atolls. Atoll is a uniquely designed piece of traditional Swedish glass handicraft from the Smaland province.

I bought this little creamer last week at Goodwill for $2.95. I love blue and white on dishes and creamers are a weakness of mine. I especially enjoy these old time scenes on blue and white dishes.

For more Blue Monday visit Smiling Sally. Have a wonderful week everyone.

Tablescape Tuesday ~ Bavarian Dishes

It’s time to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for her Tablescape Tuesday.

This week I’m sharing a table setting of Bavarian china. This table and setting is in my condo in California. Most of my stash of table goodies are at my home in Washington so this was a fun challenge for me here.

I bought this set of Bavarian Dishes from a local thrift store. The silverplate flatware with B engraved on them was a wonderful find at Goodwill in Bellevue, Washington. The Pearl napkin rings were from Target clearanced. The napkins are from Sur la Table. The Goblets, Vase, and tablecloths came from Goodwill also.

I really like the iridescense in the tea cups and the gold handles.

Pink Saturday ~ Churchill Cups & Saucers

It’s Time for Pink Saturday again…

On my trip to the Seattle area last weekend I went shopping with my sister at our favorite thrift store, Goodwill in Bellevue. I spotted eight Churchill saucers and was hoping there were cups to match somewhere. I turned around and there they were 8 cups to go with the 8 saucers and a sugar bowl, too! The saucers were $.99 cents each and the cups were $1.49. Whoohoo!

For more Pink visit our fabulous hostess Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.

Friday’s Fave Five ~

1. The very best part of this last week was spending lots of time with my kids in Washington. Josh, our DIL Laura, Dan and Katie. We ate together and went to church together and worked together. Fun times.

2. While in Washington I got to go to my favorite shopping place with my sister Lana G. and I found 8 of those great tea cups and saucers you see in the top left of the collage. They are Churchill and made in England.

3. Again in Washington I got to see some beautiful fall color in Woodinville and on my 6 mile walk on the Burke Gilman Trail with my walking buddies, Jan and Jody.

4. Working in my yard in Washington. Mowing the grass and trimming some overgrown shrubs. Strange but true I enjoy mowing. It’s probably because of the before and after transformation that is so wonderful to see. That bush that has turned that shade of rusty red is my Blueberry Bush.

5. Getting back to my more quiet life in California and starting up the daily walking schedule with my bloggy friend Willow. We’ve been seeing the same 3 Mule deer on almost all of our walks. If you squint you can see one of the deer with those huge ears in the collage.
