FFF ~ Filled, Full, & Flowing

A time to remember some good things that have happened in the last week. What are your favorites. Visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in this worthwhile activity.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17 (ESV).

On Thursday morning I had one of those times of overwhelming thankfulness to God for what He has done and continues to do in my life and the lives of those around me.

1. I was given the gift of appreciation of old friends who have been in our lives for years. Several of these friends came to our house on Sunday to celebrate our daughter Katie’s engagement to Andrew. Then on Tuesday night some young long time friends and I sat together at the U.S. Open Cup Final and enjoyed the excitement of winning the game with high fives all around and hilarious stories during our ride to the game and back home.

2. Our son Dan is really close to completing his time of training and will return to Washington State to his own space and regular work environment next month. God has been gracious to him and given him a gift of a job that he is really cut out for. During his time away he has been protected and safe and I am so thankful to God for that.

3. On Sunday morning as I was preparing for the open house we were having for Katie and Andrew’s engagement I listened to my daughter singing praises to God in the shower. I walked into the guest room and said to Andrew “Thank you Andrew for rescuing my daughter from her old boyfriend” My daughter had lost her joy in that past relationship and her personality was altered from her usual bright and positive self. I am so thankful to God for sending Andrew into Katie’s life and for the fact that they bring out the best in each other.

4. Our son Josh started a new job this week. He was pursued by a company that recognized his skills and work ethic. I thank God for the gift of this new job for Josh. I also thank God for Josh and Laura’s relationship and how they support each other. This was a bonus week for me because I got to enjoy two winning Sounders games with Josh and Laura! Whoohoo!

5. I’m thankful for my “Dear” who gives me the freedom to pursue and enjoy adventures in life. Many of the adventures we enjoy together but he’s man enough to let me go off on adventures without him, too. I’m more of a sports fan then he is and our relationship can manage that reality. He is a great provider and works hard so that I can spend his money. He is faithful to me and our family and I do not take that for granted. God has been good to us in giving us a trusting relationship. Greg is a man of integrity and our children recognize that and have been positively effected by that.

Yes my cup is full to overflowing this week.

And on a “lighter” note I sure wish I weighed what I weighed in that last photo taken with Dear in Edinburgh almost 5 years ago. :0)

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Leaves…

My house in Washington is surrounded by wet leaves.

I had to surrender and don my trusty Gortex shoes and my Gortex jacket and brave the wind and wet to rake.

While raking I found some pretty color. I filled a large yard waste bin and 3 extra trash cans with leaves and some bush clippings. Hope the yard waste truck gets here before they all blow away!

This bush in my yard is sporting the best fall color. Have a great Monday everyone…

Too Much Fun Leaves Me Limp…

This is how I feel right now. So many fun things on my plate that have made me a little limp. I’m looking forward to the weekend and some relaxation. I’ll post some photos from the Homecoming for Blue Monday and Mosaic Monday.

Tablescape Thursday ~ Fall in Seattle

Last week I was at my home in the Seattle area and got so busy visiting with our kids and getting the house ready for fall I couldn’t participate in Tablescape Thursday even though this table was set  for a family meal with our kids. I’m sharing it this week now that I’m back in California with a little more time on my hands.

Visit the lovely Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see more tables decked out for your enjoyment!

I forgot to take a photo of the family enjoying our meal at the table but it was really good. Our last BBQ of the season. We had steaks, fresh corn on the cob and zucchini also grilled and for dessert we had raspberry and apple pastry bites. Then we had a great time playing Beatles Rock Band.

We are so happy to be having some cooler temps since we arrived back in Southern California. It makes it feel more like Fall…

Friday’s Fave Five ~ PNW

Here are some favorites from the Pacific Northwest!

1. On Saturday I attended a bridal shower for my DIL’s good friend. Spending some time with my DIL and her mother was lovely.

2. Taking a roadtrip with my daughter to Canada was so much fun.

3. Stanley Park in Vancouver is a beautiful destination. It was great that it was cool enough to enjoy hot tea in the afternoon!

4. The Vancouver Aquarium was amazing. The incredible variety in God’s creation struck me over and over again as we walked from tank to tank.

5. Fall color washed with rain has been fabulous to see!

Finding dead rats in our attic was not a favorite!! Sorry I just had to add that since I can’t get it out of my head. Ugh! Double Ugh!! Maybe triple ugh!!!

Please visit the lovely Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join on in with your favorites from this past week!

Mosaic Monday ~ Fall

I’m in the Seattle area for about 10 days and I was so pleased to find some fall color in my yard. There is not a lot of fall color around the area yet but I appreciate any and all I see. My blueberry bush and our Chinese Flame Tree are contributing nicely to the season. The photo in the center of the collage is from an antique store in Camarillo, Ca.

Mary at Little Red House is our hostess for Mosaic Monday. She is a wonderful photographer so head on over and see more Mosaics or to link up with your very own mosaic…

Friday’s Fave Five!

Time to look back over this last week and recall your favorites. Visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in.

1. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and one of the “signs” of the season I enjoy are dew dripping spider webs. On an early morning walk at the beginning of the week Willow and I saw a lot of these webs. The weather here in Southern California has been very hot and we are also experiencing smoke and ash from a nearby fire. So it may be a while before we see any other signs of Fall around here. They are promising a cool down next Tuesday.

2. On Saturday our Washington Huskies Football team who were not rated because of their miserable season last year beat the #3 rated U.S.C. Trojans! What fun that was to watch. Boy was that a very good shocker!! Dear is a University of Washington alumni and our daughter is finishing her last quarter there this Fall.

3. On Monday I got to meet my newest little Grand Niece. I got to hold her, change her and rock her to sleep. Fun times…

4. It’s always a great treat to talk to my kids on the phone. Our daughter called this past week after she changed her first tire! (she’s 23) She also started the lawn mower and mowed the lawn for the first time in her life! We were very proud of her. I’m so grateful that my kids call regularly and let us know what’s going on in their lives.

5. As the heat seems to linger on and on here I am so grateful for our airconditioning. I thought our bill would be really high last month and it was only $14.57. They had given us several credits that we weren’t expecting and really don’t understand :0). There are advantages to owning a really small condo.

Later today Dear and I are flying to Seattle. We will be at our home there until Sunday October 4th. We are excited to see our kids and get caught up with some business there. As usual I won’t know how much I’ll be able to blog. My connections there are really slow and it takes so long to upload photos, etc.  If you don’t hear from me you will know why. I’m looking forward  to seeing some of this color and some of these people while I’m there. It might be a little early yet for the color but I’ll keep my eyes open…

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Yorkshire

Time to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for more tablescapes from around the Sphere.

Oopsie I bought some new/old dishes this week that I thought would be fun for a Thanksgiving Table. Now my dilema is how to get them up to Seattle for Thanksgiving this year. These dishes are Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Ironstone made in England. I got 36 pieces for $55.00. That comes out to about $1.54 per piece. I bought these at Goodwill.

I really enjoy dishes with English country scenes. I don’t have much in the Thanksgiving decorating realm here at the condo in California so I scrounged around to try to create something that might feel like harvest.

These are the 36 pieces that I purchased.

Be sure to visit Susan to see lots of fun table settings!

Today’s Flowers #16

For more Flowers from around the world visit the Today’s Flower Blog hosted by Santilli and Denise B.C.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage and demanding a ransom for me to access them. I’m slowly cleaning up many of my posts where PB have added ugly black and grey boxes where my photos used to be. So frustrating!
