My husband was out barbecuing on Tuesday night and called me out to our little front patio to check out the great sky! Little puffs of clouds covered the sky around our condominium complex. I love it when all I have to do is step out my front door and see something as delightful as this!

~ Saturday was a double date day! In the morning Dear and I walked at our favorite beach at dawn and then in the early evening we went to one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate a belated 35th Anniversary dinner. Our Anniversary is December 6th but Dear and I were in different parts of the country on that day so we decided to celebrate this past Saturday.
It’s no secret that the enjoyment of food is big in my life. My mother has never driven a car and she has never worked outside the home. She put her energy and time into her love language which was cooking food for us and others. We always had people over growing up to share meals with us. I never worried about bringing home an unexpected guest because there would always be enough food for all. Our family was in the lowest middle income class but my parents always found money to put food on the table and shoes on our feet. I’ve inherited the love of food and being around a table.
All of that to say that I experienced a wonderful Prime Rib dinner on Saturday with an amazing fig and orange souffle for dessert! Yum…
What a fun sky we saw here on Tuesday night! Dear was out BBQ’ing and he called me outside and said “You’ve got to see these great clouds” I grabbed my camera and headed out and clicked away! The clouds were like little cotton balls.
Oh dear me…I bought some more dishes. They were just so much fun and they met my criteria of being made in England. I’m thinking it will be fun coming up with a Valentine day dinner using these red checked dishes! Thrift store shopping and finding dishes at a bargain are always fun for me and a favorite!
A Bonus Favorite: I love how people always come together after a disastor to help their fellow human beings. For all of us who feel so bad about what has happened in the Island Nation of Haiti don’t forget or hesitate to send some money their way using a reputable/tried and true organization like World Concern, or Samaritan’s Purse just to name a couple who have proven their integrity in getting relief where it’s needed. A little from all of us adds up…

Everything in this post was purchased at Thrift Stores, Clearance tables or Garage sales. The pink tablecloth is covered with a sheer polka dot piece of remnant fabric that I found at a thrift store also.

Please join me in praying for the Island nation of Haiti after the devastating earthquake that struck there just before dark. Our DIL works with World Concern in the state of Washington and the World Concern Staff that are in Haiti are safe right now but they say the damage is horrific. This is such an impoverished area of the world…

It’s time to head over to Susan’s at A Southern DayDreamer for Outdoor Wednesday. All my photos were taken at Emma Wood State Beach in the wee morning hours this past Saturday.
Aren’t digital cameras great! I was just thinking about how we used to have to load a roll of film after every 24/36 photos and we never knew if the photos were good till after we had the film processed! I am so thankful for digital photography!!

Week Two: January 10th-16th
Tell us about your favorite teas. Do you prefer black, green, white, red, or “herbal”? Do you like added flavors such as fruit, flowers, vanilla, chocolate, or spices, or are you a “purist”?
For a quick cup of tea I generally enjoy tea steeped with a tea bag. If I am going to steep loose tea I enjoy a good Earl Grey or English Breakfast Tea or a Russian black tea called Czars tea.
I always have to make sure I have good ole Lipton tea bags around for my family especially my brother Leonard. Some of my sisters have moved on to herbal teas. When I was younger I put lots of sugar and milk in my tea. These days I drink most of my hot beverages black with no sweeteners.
I found this really good tea in these cool muslin bags at a local grocery store at a close-out price. A Russian blend of China, Ceylon, and India teas with natural scents of bergamot, lemon, lime, orange, mandarin and flowers. What a description :0)
This is my daughter in a flat we rented in Scotland enjoying our welcome tea tray that was left for us.
I very rarely go for more fruity teas but I do experiment once in a while. This tea cup and tea was a gift from my son and his wife and I’ve enjoyed the variety of teas from this box.
If I want something hot at night I generally will go for the herbals. My first choice is usually Chamomile.
When we go out for tea in a larger group we will usually get a pot of Earl Grey, a pot of some fruity tea like Peach, and choose something different like lavender or anything we haven’t tried before that is different from our usual. It’s fun to experiment with the group.
I’ve developed a nagging cough that hopefully will depart in the next day or two in the meantime as I write this post I’m enjoying a hot cuppa Lady Grey to soothe my throat. It’s interesting that if I’m ever sick I always think of hot tea not hot coffee. Of course if things get really bad there’s that other British remedy…

We have been back in Southern California for a week already and we had the great privilege of enjoying the beauty of Emma Wood State Beach on Saturday morning. We are aware here in Southern California that we are one of the only parts of the U.S. not caught in the grip of Global Warming, umm the deep freeze. Today my mosaics will be linked to Mosaic Monday hosted by Mary at the Little Red House and Blue Monday hosted by Smiling Sally in Florida. Even Sally is experiencing the cold in Florida!!
