2nd Time Around ~ Three or More!

I’m doing a double header for Tuesday since we’re in Baseball Season. My 2nd Time Around with Diane from A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words and Three or More with Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner comes from one of my favorite things to do…Thrift Store Shop!

I bought these fun Tea Towels for 50 cents each from a Thrift Store in Ventura, California a couple weeks ago, 6 or $3.00!

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

2nd Time Around ~ Oscar de la Renta!

Diane at a Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words is the hostess of this weekly event. It’s been a while since I’ve played, not since I’ve shopped 2nd hand mind you but since I posted about my thrift store shopping excursions. While I was at my home in Washington State last week I found this dress that I knew my daughter would love. It was pricey for what I usually spend at Goodwill but I thought that if it fit her it would be a steal at $19.97!

Here are some close-ups of some of the detail. The dress is 100% Silk. The trim on the skirt is feathers, Pheasant Feathers. The pleating and stitching is beautifully done. It fits my daughter perfectly.

My daughter went to the Oscar de la Renta website and found similar dresses to this (none exact) that were selling for $3900-$4600!

She is now antsy for an occasion to wear it to!

Facebook came up with these photos in my memories and I’m happy to be able to put them back in this post. The only photo that is missing is the closeup of the feathers.

Topanga Canyon & The Seattle Sounders!

Today Katie and I met the bride to be with her parents in Topanga Canyon at Hidden Treasures Vintage Store. This is the shop where Gabbie bought her wedding dress. If you really enjoy vintage this is a great destination.

This shop is in an old house on Topanga Canyon Blvd. about halfway into the Canyon from the Valley.

Our Katie does vintage well and it was fun to see the things she tried on. She left with a new (old) coat, a sweater and a hat.

Gabbie bought some tablecloths for the reception. We had lunch together before we parted ways looking forward to seeing each other again at the wedding, especially seeing Gabbie in her Vintage Dress she chose for the wedding.

On the way home we had to pull over to take pictures of this Pink Pig flying.  “When Pigs Fly” was the chance the New York Red Bulls needed tonight against the Seattle Sounders in their debut opening season game! The Sounders beat them handily 3-0. Our sons have season tickets and enjoyed the game live. We were so happy for them that they could enjoy this big win!

I knew after seeing Fredy Montero #17 in Ventura a month ago that he would be someone to watch. Well done Sounders!!

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

A 2nd Time Around for Three or More!

These are some recent thrift store purchases that I’ve made. The hobnail 3 section dish was $3.95. The little white milk glass salt and pepper shakers were $1.99 and the Silver over copper 3 piece sugar and creamer set was $8.00.

Any Suggestions?

Does anyone out there have a suggestion as to what I should use to fix this cake plate?

I bought this today at the Thrift Store for $5 even though the base is separated from the plate. Nothing is cracked or broken. It’s a very clean separation. I have never tried glueing anything like this. The top is very heavy so I’d need something that will adhere really well. So…if you know what I should buy please leave me a comment. Thank you!

Oh, A Thrifting We Will Go ~

Oh, A thrifting we will go
a thrifting we will go
Hi ho the derio
a thrifting we will go..

So my sister Lana, our niece Michelle, my daughter-in-law Laura, and I met at Goodwill on Saturday morning to have a shopping party together. Michelle has been in Washington since Tuesday for a wedding and a visit. She is donning an apron that she was considering. This is our sorting out stage of shopping. We first load the carts with everything we think we might want, then when we’ve had enough shopping we sort through everything and decide what we really don’t want.

Some of the goodies I’ve acquired this week. I love the little saying on the blue plate from England. “When two fond hearts as one unite the yoke is easy and the burden light”

I love to mix lace and another color tablecloth for tea tables or just for some old fashioned fun. I’m a sucker for tablecloths and the two I bought today were unique and in very good shape. I’m looking forward to making some sweet treats in these Petite heart pans. Think of the possibilities.

This hand made tablecloth is a very interesting color and the work is so detailed on it. I just couldn’t walk away from it. Well, I could have walked away but I didn’t want to.

While we were shopping my two sons were home preparing a great barbecue for us hard working shoppers. It was so good. They decided on hamburgers and to go with the hamburgers they made carmelized onions, guacamole, bacon, a fruit salad and baked beans. We had my Rice Krispy Bars for dessert. What a feast it was. We felt blessed.

Ok my sister Lana G! really has a talent at presenting her treasures in a beautiful way. She spent the most of all of us. Check out her treasures here.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

More Thrift Store Treasures

So I’m back in the land of my favorite thrift stores. I found a few treasures already. My sister Lana’s haul was pretty darn good, too! We met at Goodwill on Saturday the 5th for an hour or two…

The first teacup is Chelsea Garden, Royal Grafton, Made in England, $2.99.

The Japanese Garden Scene Teacup just says Japan on the bottom. I liked them because they reminded me of the Japanese Gardens in Seattle. I purchased 5 of them for .49 cents each.

The last sweet tea cup and saucer are Bluebird Fine Bone China, Made in Canada. The tea cup was $.99 and the saucer was $.99.

This cute set of 5 tea cups and saucers are from Japan. I love the design inside each cup, as well as the outside. Each set was $1.48 so $7.40 for the set of 5 before tax! Since we are on a tea theme my last purchase was this Tea Cozy that was made in England for $1.49.

Someday someone will have a fine Estate Sale with all my accumulated “moth and rust will destroy” treasures! Blessings on y’all!

More Thrift Store Goodies…

This is a busy weekend for my extended family. Graduations, birthdays, baby shower, and wedding shower, all packed into two days. The women on my side of the family are hosting a shower on Sunday for our future niece/cousin/granddaughter. Lot’s of organizing, cooking, and putting together. Hopefully I’ll have photos to share. I’ll be on the road through L.A. and onto Orange County for the festivities. So before I head into craziville I took a moment at the local thrift store and look what I found.

Three pieces of Pink Depression glass for $6.50.

This Old Foley, James Kent LTD, Made in England, “Harmony Rose” bowl for $1.25.

This Wedgewood cup and saucer for $.75.

Have a wonderful weekend. Think of me while I try to create my very first cake with fondant icing. If it works I’ll be sure to post a photo.

Thrift Store Treasures

So my walking numbers are way down this week after my high stepping totals last week. I’ve been sidetracked this week. I decided to clean out my kitchen cupboards and reorganize them so it’s easier to work. I had 3 bags of stuff to donate to the local thrift store. Things that just aren’t working in the condo. I have another box full of stuff to take back to the Mother ship in Seattle. Just when I was ahead I had a great shopping day at none other than Goodwill.

6 Water Goblets with roses etched on them (all 6 for 2.99), Tea Pot and two tea cups $2.99, A three piece cream and gold tea place setting for $1.99 (Kahla, East Germany), A Tiffany and Co. Ice bucket for 1.99.

A Limoges little basket dish for $1.99

There were 11 of these little vases that are designed to be place card holders. I got the set of 11 for $4.99.

Now the big decision on what to leave here and what to send to the Mother Ship…

I’m headed to Orange County today to meet some of my family at a Persian Restaurant to celebrate my father’s 85th birthday. I’ll try to catch up with y’all tomorrow. Have a wonderful day.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage and they have blacked them all out. I’m slowly working at restoring my posts without their help. Such a tiresome bother!
