Blue Monday ~ Seattle to San Francisco

Welcome to Blue Monday hosted by Smiling Sally. My photos this week are from the Seattle area and from San Francisco.

Over Thanksgiving we made at trip to Ste Michelle Winery and enjoyed their fabulous Peacock tree and Tree Topper and wreath. Then we went outside and met their inspiration, this wonderful peacock!

From Seattle I flew to San Francisco to meet up with Dear who was attending the American Society of Hematology conference and here is some blue from this very interesting city.

Hope you enjoyed my Blue this week. Enjoy your Monday and new week!

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007 to 2015 hostage and has replaced them all with ugly black and grey boxes asking for a ransom to have them re-published. Such a frustrating bother as I go through each post to delete the ugly boxes.

Blue Monday ~ December

So for my Blue this week I have 3 photos of fun blue Christmas displays from Molbaks Nursery in Woodinville, Washington. The little birds and the sweet English Bone China Plate are from my own stash.

Blue Monday and Tablescape Tuesday!

This is a busy week for many of us here in the U.S.A. with Thanksgiving on Thursday. I’m going to combine my Blue Monday Post with my Tablescape Tuesday Post because my tablescape is predominately blue. I’m flying up North to Seattle on Tuesday and I’m busy getting all my ducks in a row…

I set this table for two putting together anything blue and gold that I had at our condo in Southern California.

I just picked up the Santa and the Gold large floral ornaments at my favorite little thrift store in town. The Snowflake napkins and Tablecloth are Big K Martha Stewart that were clearanced after Christmas last year. I also purchased the snowflake napkin rings at the Christmas clearance.

The Blue holly dishes are Target Christmas clearance from a couple years ago. The blue beaded sprays are also from Target clearance. The glasses, which I love the shape of, are from my favorite little thrift store. I was sorry they only had two, but most days it’s just the two of us here in the condo anyway.

So if you’d like to see more Blue Monday click over to Sally’s on Monday and if you’d like to see more Tablescapes click over to Susan’s on Tuesday!

Blue Monday ~ Hooray for Firemen!!

I took this photo of this fire engine on our way to dinner last Wednesday with no idea how important these trucks and firemen would become on Thursday and through the weekend here in Southern California. We have had fire after fire here and our men in blue have come to the aid of anyone in the path of these fires. Our hearts are full of gratitude and our prayers continue for their safety and their courage and their strength as the daunting task of fighting some fires goes on. Things have improved but there are still fires to fight. Thank you to all the firemen and policemen who are serving the Public. God bless you everyone…

Blue Monday

This Vase was a gift to my husband when the company he worked for was purchased by another company and it ceased to be. It was a great company to work for and it was a “Blue” day for sure when this company was no more. It’s a Kosta Boda, designed by Anna Ehrner. It’s from her Atoll collection. Atolls are circular coral islands embracing lagoons in tropical seas. By candlelight, Anna Ehrner’s crystal look like shimmering little atolls. Atoll is a uniquely designed piece of traditional Swedish glass handicraft from the Smaland province.

I bought this little creamer last week at Goodwill for $2.95. I love blue and white on dishes and creamers are a weakness of mine. I especially enjoy these old time scenes on blue and white dishes.

Blue Monday ~ Peacocks!

On my way to Orange County many Saturdays ago I stopped at a Target in Norwalk and heard a familiar bird call. There was a farmhouse next door to the Target with several Peacocks. I walked over to the fence to see if I could get a glimpse. I had to zoom in to get these shots so they are not as clear as I wish they were but you can still get an idea of the vibrant colors this fella had!

Peacocks are large, colorful pheasants (typically blue and green) known for their iridescent tails. These tail feathers, or coverts, spread out in a distinctive train that is more than 60 percent of the bird’s total body length and boast colorful “eye” markings of blue, gold, red, and other hues. The large train is used in mating rituals and courtship displays. It can be arched into a magnificent fan that reaches across the bird’s back and touches the ground on either side. Females are believed to choose their mates according to the size, color, and quality of these outrageous feather trains.

The term “peacock” is commonly used to refer to birds of both sexes. Technically, only males are peacocks. Females are peahens, and together, they are called peafowl.

Blue Monday ~ Kitsap Peninsula

Whenever we take the Edmonds/Kingston Ferry across the Sound to the Kitsap Peninsula we pass a gas station that has these carved pieces all over their grass area. It always grabs my attention and makes me smile but we’ve never stopped until this last summer on our way back from Port Gamble. There were bloggers in the car so there was no excuse not to stop. Then we saw their fabulous sign “Take Photos Have a Good Time” A sign that speaks to the heart of a blogger!!

Have a wonderful day and a special “shout out” to my friends Dave and Beth who pass this site way more than me!!

Blue Monday ~

Welcome to Blue Monday. The birds and birdhouse photos were taken on a walk with my bloggy friend Willow. The blue stained glass window is in St. Mary Magdalen Church in Camarillo, California. I love the beautiful blue and green in this window.

Blue Monday ~ The Blue Pacific

This week for Smiling Sally’s Blue Monday Challenge I’m showing you the rewarding views of the Pacific Ocean Dear and I got to see after hiking up just .7 miles off of the main Sycamore Canyon Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains. Even though it’s only .7 miles you are going UP so we get a lot of huffing and puffing in. But look at the sight at the top of the trail!

We like to do this hike anytime but summer. When the weather is cool there are less bugs, less heat (obviously) and less chance of running into a rattlesnake (maybe).

Update: I’m leaving early this morning to take my mom to the hospital for my dad’s emergency gall-bladder surgery. Please pray for him. I won’t be around a computer today.

Blue Monday ~ English Chippendale

Welcome to my Blue Monday. I’ve posted these dishes that I love before but not for Blue Monday and since they are very blue I will show them again. I have 4 place settings of these dishes that I purchased in 1984 at a Model Home furniture and accessories sale in my neighborhood in Ventura, California. They are English Chippendale by Johnson Bros. England. The set cost me $25.00.
