Sky Watch ~ Sammamish River Trail

I’m still in the State of Washington and the skies have been quite cloudy and boring these last couple of days. I took a walk yesterday along the Sammamish River Trail out from Bothell Landing. I decided this view with the lush green foliage could make up for the boring sky.

Photo Hunters ~ Pointed

The godwits are a group of large, long-billed, long-legged and strongly migratory wading birds of the genus Limosa. They form large flocks on coasts and estuaries in winter. I took this photo of the Godwit in March at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, California. I think it’s bill qualifies for “Pointed”.

ABC Wednesday ~ X is for…

Well the best I could come up with for X is the Skull and Crossbones surrounding any Pirate Theme Mateys!

These were taken in a Model Home we walked through where they decorated one of the rooms in a pirate theme.

These shots were taken on one of our beach walks. There is one camper at this state park who camps every weekend and hoists the Pirate Flag! Ok, so I made the X in the sand before I saw the pirate flag and the X made out of sticks because I was getting desperate to find X’s!

****Yikes, this happens to be my 1000th post! I should have given a prize or something or buried some treasure under an X somewhere…

ABC Wednesday ~ V is for…

V is for Ventura, California

On Father’s Day (June 15th) Dear and I took an early morning walk in Ventura, California. We walked along San Buenaventura State Beach to the Ventura Pier and back again. We are having the typical June morning marine layer along the coast in Southern California so the pictures are a bit gloomy.

We saw some fun creatures on our walk. A ground squirrel, A Pyrenees Mountain Dog, A Seal, and A Godwit.

We also saw some interesting vegetation.

This big bush with these interesting flowers caught our eye. The petals look crepe like. I just did a google search and found out this is a Crinkled White Peony…

The Butterfly

I was so happy that a butterfly stayed still long enough on my walk yesterday with Willow so that I could get a photograph. This is my first butterfly shot. I’d love to be able to get closer to one to get a clearer shot sometime. I had to zoom in fearing it would flutter away if I got too close. Dear tells me this is a Swallowtail butterfly, smarty pants!
