The godwits are a group of large, long-billed, long-legged and strongly migratory wading birds of the genus Limosa. They form large flocks on coasts and estuaries in winter. I took this photo of the Godwit in March at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, California. I think it’s bill qualifies for “Pointed”.

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage. They have blacked out all those photos on my blog posts. OH BOTHER! I’m slowly cleaning up my posts.
That is definitely one pointy beak!!! Lovely shot 🙂
My entry is here
Stop by if you have a moment. Happy photo hunting! And have a great weekend 🙂
That’s a great shot and perfect for the theme. There is something quite balletic about the godwit you photographed. Happy Fourth of July!
Cool shot Ellen. We have some species like this too over here in Malaysia. They are all white and have different heights.

Hi Ellen,
What a clever picture! Yes, it definitely qualifies for “pointed”! 🙂
I thought I would check out your blog before I have to leave to make my fruit salad for a gathering later… except I am using marshmallows, strawberries and blueberries on the top for the patriotic colors. 😉
Happy Independence Day to you and yours!
Happy 4th Ellen!

What a fantastic shot! We get lots of herons around here. Are they related at all? 😀
Oh, now that is a really pointed beak. And the legs are so slim 😀
What an interesting bird, Ellen, and he certainly fits the caption “pointed!”
Lovely looking bird, but I dun think I’ll say the same for the pain of it’s attack from that beak 😛
That’s a perfect entry. Happy hunting
Perfect for the theme!!! Nice shot too;)
Wonderful shot. I am so glad you are walking beaches….only in my dreams these days…I am hoping to get ‘coastal’ at least once this summer…so close and yet so far
Enjoy.
Lovely shot. Happy 4th of July.
Great entry for today’s theme… Mine’s up too hope you can drop by,,, Happy weekend!
Excellent choice for today’s theme! The variety of birds in our universe never ceases to amaze me. Molly and I are both relieved the fireworks are just about over … (except for the occasional firecracker). I’ve participated in Photo Hunt for the 8th time this morning … the last two have been at Sacred Ruminations.
Hugs and blessings,
This is the first time I’ve been introduced to a Godwit! He looks quite delightful… and pointed! He sure picked a lovely spot. Have a wonderful weekend, Ellen!
Oh wow, that beak is definitely pointed. All the better to catch those fish with, right?!

We have those here on our coast too. I can never get them to be still long enough to photography!!
