V is for Ventura, California
On Father’s Day (June 15th) Dear and I took an early morning walk in Ventura, California. We walked along San Buenaventura State Beach to the Ventura Pier and back again. We are having the typical June morning marine layer along the coast in Southern California so the pictures are a bit gloomy.
We saw some fun creatures on our walk. A ground squirrel, A Pyrenees Mountain Dog, A Seal, and A Godwit.
We also saw some interesting vegetation.
This big bush with these interesting flowers caught our eye. The petals look crepe like. I just did a google search and found out this is a Crinkled White Peony…

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage. They have blacked out all those photos on my blog posts. OH BOTHER! I’m slowly cleaning up my posts.
Very nice, Ellen, a little bit of everything – sky, sea, flowers, and creatures!
Good morning, Ellen!
WOW!!! What a nice beach walk you had. You actually saw a seal in the wild? I have only seen them in zoos. How neat!!
And the vegetation is absolutely stunning.
Also, is a ground squirrel kind of like a ground hog?
What a beautiful walk! I didn’t know seals were in California. I thought they were further north. Love the bright and cheery flowers!
Love it! Wonderful views you had on your valk 🙂
Very lovely V-choices! All of the photos are perfect!
Thanks for visiting my V-post.
Love the collages, a lovely post.
Sometimes when we go for a walk we seem to see and get things into perspective dont you think?
Dx
Oh the crinkled white peony is so beautiful. Like a daisy .. high society style. The collages are wonderful.
Hello Ellen…. I really appreciated the comment you left and your prayers for Edward’s recovery. Thank you. Marion – Wales UK.
Nice Blog!
Very nice to be able to use such a beautiful local area.
So that is what is at the end of the Highway. Great scenes and the smell of the ocean.
Your photos give an excellent idea what your surroundings are like! The white peony is like a fairy flower!
Sara has posted on Ventura beach. Interesting to see your perspective.
See the rock rose is just the same as mine.
Taking your friend walking tomorrow and this time at the coast.
What a nice walk and there are so many interesting finds!
The animals are varied, flowers diverse and the gloomy day is a soft gloom! I’ve seen the bright pink flower in the desert..it’s called a Desert Five Spot, I believe. Each flower is quite dramatic and beautiful!
a very beautiful V post:) Looks like a great place to spend a vacation:)

I love the shades of gray in the first two collages. And I loved seeing the Crinkled White Peony! A friend is giving me some of those in the fall when it is time to divide and transplant them and your pictures make me even more excited!
Great collages and great choices for V.
Well done.
Very ‘venturous of you to do Ventura! lol I love Southern California and would be tempted to live in the area. But I think I like home the best. Come on over to see my V today.
