You see the blue heron on the bottom left photo in this mosaic? Very close to St. Vincent de Paul at the rear area of the Kenmore Park and Ride there is a nesting area of Blue Herons. The nests high up in the trees are something extraordinary to see. You can see more on my post here. All the dark patches in the trees are Blue Heron nests on this next photo.

We’ve enjoyed many of the services these local businesses offer during our years living close to and in Kenmore. Ostrom’s pharmacy, Kenmore Lanes (for birthday parties), Kenmore Camera, Tai Ho (great lunch specials) and others. All three of our kids graduated high school from Inglemoor. We’ve also found great bargains from St. Vincent de Paul thrift store over the years and donated many things there. Some of the images are historical and not current.

It was nice to see the business and community effort that made this mural happen. I’m glad for once I have the signatures of the mural artists.

Reflections

My walks on the trail give me some great photo opportunities. Today I’m sharing some reflections that my lens captured.

Linking to Weekend Reflections.
All of these photos were taken in Washington State on and around Lake Washington.

Water reflected on duck and duck reflected in the water.

I’m happy to be headed into a weekend with my sore throat and coughing spells gone. Woohoo! Apart from the rain and wind it should be a quiet weekend at this old house. It’s good to have those every once in a while. How’s your weekend looking?

Kenmore Air Harbor

K is for Kenmore and the Kenmore Air Harbor…

P1050622We are on the letter K for ABC Wednesday and I wanted to share some photos from Kenmore, Washington. With the Scottish Independence run this week I thought it fitting to share our own Kenmore, Washington connection to Kenmore, Scotland and Kenmore, Canada and our great Kenmore Air Harbor. It operates scheduled and charter seaplane and land plane service to destinations throughout western Washington and southwestern British Columbia, as well as seaplane “flightseeing” flights around Seattle.

We brought a little “Kenmore” souvenir from Scotland back with us from our trip in 2013…

Kenmore1

Founded in 1901, Kenmore’s name comes third-hand from the Scottish village of Kenmore, via town founder home town of Kenmore, Ontario. McMasters and his wife Annie arrived in Puget Sound circa 1889 from Canada, intending to establish themselves in the shingle-making trade. They opened a shingle mill on the northern shore of Lake Washington on land leased from Watson C. Squire. By 1903, Kenmore had established a school system and post office, but it did not formally incorporate as a city until August 31, 1998.

You can join the founder, Denise Nesbitt and her team on the 15th round of ABC Wednesday anytime!

Happy Fall everyone!
