I couldn’t have asked God for a better match for our son Josh in his wife Laura! We thank God so often for bringing these two together. They are a great compliment to each other. They serve God’s people together well. I’m not just saying this because I am their mother either.
This is a photo from the Summer Bible Teen Camp they directed this past August. Arrggh! They make good pirates, too…
Happy 7th Anniversary Josh and Laura. Your father and I love you dearly and thank God for you and your marriage!

I went to the “Happiest Place on Earth” last Wednesday and these are some of the Ruby shots I took while I was there.
Clarification: For those of you that don’t know, Disneyland in Anaheim, California, is the “happiest place on earth”.

This bridge is in the city of Bothell, Washington. It connects the Sammamish River trail across the Sammamish River to Bothell Landing. Bothell Landing is home to several historical buildings and is a city site for celebrations and concerts in the summer.
When my kids were little we lived on a hill above this area and we’d hike down to Bothell landing with family and friends for fun. We’ve moved away from this area but it still holds good memories.
When I’m in Washington 2 of my walking buddies and I walk the Sammamish River Trail and the Burke Gilman Trail for 6 miles. We stop short of this bridge.
This is a picture of me, ellen b., on this bridge on Blake Lewis Day in Bothell May of 2007. Blake was one of the final two on American Idol that year. He was about to give a concert at Bothell landing to honor his hometown.

Alice from Iwasborn2cree8 is hosting this challenge. Here’s what she says ~
“This Photo Challenge is BRIDGING THE GAP. The idea is to post photos you’ve taken, or you are in, showing a bridge. Tell us something about the bridge, and/or what was happening when you took the photo. Of course, link back here, and leave a message, so we can all come have a look at what you’ve left for us.”
Here’s my first entry…
This is the bridge you cross traveling South on Interstate 5 from the State of Washington to the State of Oregon. More specifically from Vancouver, Wa. to Portland, Oregon. My husband and I travelled from Seattle to the Los Angeles area a couple Saturdays ago. This bridge crosses the Columbia River. This crossing comes about 3 hours into our 17 hour journey :0)

Dread not the things that are ahead,
The burdens great, the sinking sands,
The thorns that o’er the path are spread,
God holds the future in His hands.
Refrain
God holds the future in His hands
And every heart He understands.
On Him depend,
He is your Friend,
He holds the future in His hands.
We know not what tomorrow hides,
Of sun or storm or good or ill;
We only know His dear hand guides,
And He will be our Father still.
Refrain
His hand created earth and sky,
The zephyrs and the storms that rage,
And years to come and years gone by
To Him are but an open page.
Refrain
Live close to Him and trust His love,
Assured that while on earth we roam,
Whate’er may come, He bends above
To guide His children safely home.
Refrain

Zephyrs are west winds in case you were wondering…
This was a mural I took a photo of at Venice Beach, California. They all look wrinkled to me…

Water Lilies
If you have forgotten water lilies floating
On a dark lake among the mountains in the afternoon shade,
If you have forgotten their wet, sleepy fragrance,
Then you can return and not be afraid.
But if you remember, then turn away forever
To the plains and the prairies where pools are far apart,
There you will not come at dusk on closing water lilies,
And the shadow of the mountains will not fall on your heart.
~ Sara Teasdale
I’m posting this poem by Sara Teasdale about water lilies along with a photograph I took while canoeing with my daughter Katie. Katie is much more into poetry than I am and she understands a lot of poems that I don’t. This is a poet that she enjoys so this one’s for her…
Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is hosting a new Friday meme called Friday’s Fave Five. You just have to post 5 favorite things from this past week and link back to her blog. She’ll have a Mr. Linky so you can join in easily. Here are my Favorites from this past week.
1. Having our daughter visit us with her boyfriend. They arrived at the Long Beach Airport on Monday morning and I picked them up and we did some sight seeing on the way home.
2. Meeting up with my walking buddy and having a walk in Old Towne Camarillo with some Antique shopping and thrift shopping along the way.
3. Going to Disneyland and meeting up with family for some fun.
4. Eating out with family. This photo is from Naples Ristorante in Downtown Disney where 8 of our extended family met up to eat and enjoy each other around food again.
5. Last favorite was being able to catch several Olympic Soccer Games and especially the Gold Medal Win by the U.S. Women’s Team. Hope Solo was amazing in goal! Well done ladies!!

Every morning I wake up I notice that I dance into my office and sit down at my computer with the happy expectation that I will touch base with my dear Blogger Friends. It occurred to me to create this award for those friends, and it’s called the
When I think of you my feet begin to tappin’ and I pirouette across the floor in total delight that I will be talking/commenting to you in a little while. And of course my feet aren’t the on only parts of my body that are happy because of you.
My head is boppin’, my mouth is smilin,’ my hands are clappin’ – all because of you.
