The Potteries…

Since we were so close to the Potteries we decided to at least make 2 stops on our way from Alton to the Cotswolds on Sunday. Emma Bridgewater was our #1 choice and Aynsley was close by so we stopped there, too.

Upon our arrival in Stratford Upon Avon Dear and Josh were called into service to the Crown…

All is well now so Keep Calm and Carry On…

We are on the west coast of Cornwall these days enjoying the wind and spray off the sea…

A Shot from Old Trafford…

A dream come true for our son Josh as we stepped onto the grounds of Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, England. This is the home field of Manchester United and Manchester City Soccer teams.

Man U 034

We had our scarves from the Seattle Sounders Friendly match with Manchester United in 2011. We had great seats with privileges to a members only entrance and refreshment area and a free match day program. We had a great time and Manchester United won 2-0.

We’ve traveled a few hundred miles away from Manchester and are enjoying so many wonderful sights.

Until next time…

April 8, 1924 – September 13, 2013

We received word that my mom passed away as we arrived in London this morning. We are relieved for her that she is not suffering any longer but oh how we’ll miss her.  A lot of you have been praying for all of us so I wanted you to know. The funeral will not be until Josh, Laura, Dear and I return from England. Please pray for our pop who lost his faithful wife on their 70th wedding anniversary…

Adieu…

I enjoyed reading the origins of adieu this morning.

This was taken at the Hailes Abbey (a 13th century Cistercian Abbey) nr. Winchcombe, Gloucester, England in 2004.

We board a British Airways flight today for London. My posting will be scarce if at all. I’m hoping to try to post a few postcards like Judy at My Front Porch. Time will tell. In the meantime you will know why I’m not visiting your blogs during this time. Blessings!

Photobucket replaced many of my photos with blurred out versions and photobucket stamped versions. They are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

I Will Never Forget…

I will never forget this day. Where I was, what I did, who I talked to. My TV was still in my living room in Washington in 2001. I sat on the edge of an ottoman in shock. I started dialing, first my husband, then my married son and his wife, (they were married 2 weeks before 9/11.  I woke my 2 kids that were still at home. That day seemed like it would never end. Called my SIL to find out if she’d heard anything from my niece who was working in Manhattan. My niece was in route to Manhattan, no one at work had seen her yet. She wasn’t a casualty that day. She made it. She had to turn around and try to get home again. It took her over 6 hours to get home. Small price to pay compared to so many…

Praying that God will continue to lead and direct our leaders in how best to protect the people they are called to serve. Praying that God will protect us from evil. Also praying that God will build us up to be able to persevere and endure whatever suffering comes our way.

And now all these years later we have our dear Son in Law who will be deployed very soon to Afghanistan for his second time. We pray that God will protect him and all of the Bravo Company.

Numbers 6:24-26 (ESV) and (The Message)

The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

and from the Message Version…

God bless you and keep you,

25 God smile on you and gift you,

26 God look you full in the face
    and make you prosper.

Celebrating 60!

We had a wonderful time in Downtown Seattle celebrating Dear on his 60th birthday. Josh, Laura and Katie brought the evening together and when we arrived home there was a card in the mail from Dan that topped the evening off with a good chuckle. Love our kids and their sense of humor and love for their dad!

The Church of God is One ~ Hymn

The Church of God is One

The Church of God is one:
As brethren here we meet;
For us salvation’s work is done,
In Christ we stand complete.

Refrain

The Church of God is one,
Is one in faith and love,
Is one in the death by Jesus borne,
One in His life above.

The Church of God is one:
One only Lord we know;
We worship Jesus, God’s own Son,
Who came God’s love to show.

Refrain

The Church of God is one:
All, sinners saved by grace;
Our plea, the precious blood alone;
The cross, our meeting place.

Refrain

The Church of God is one:
The Bible we revere;
By it all saving truth is known,
And God to man brought near.

Refrain

The Church of God is one:
One blessèd hope have we;
Our dear Redeemer’s sure return
His saints to glorify.

Refrain
