We received word that my mom passed away as we arrived in London this morning. We are relieved for her that she is not suffering any longer but oh how we’ll miss her. A lot of you have been praying for all of us so I wanted you to know. The funeral will not be until Josh, Laura, Dear and I return from England. Please pray for our pop who lost his faithful wife on their 70th wedding anniversary…
Oh Ellen, so sorry for you and your family, but so glad for her to be in her heavenly home. God bless you all through this difficult time.
Oh Ellen!!! Are you gone overseas already?? This must be such a bitter sweet time for you and your family. Thinking of you!!!
Yes, Rosella, We arrived into London this morning and received the news almost simultaneously upon our arrival.
Aunt Nadia is without pain and is now with Jesus. Praying for Uncle Moisi that he receives strength at this difficult time. I am so happy that Katrina and I were able to see Aunt Nadia and Uncle Moisi on my trip down. Blessings to you and your family.
Praying for you at this time. Rejoicing for her, mourning for you.
So sorry for your loss, you and you family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Oh dear….my heart is so sad for your father, tears are flowing for those left behind, yet at the same time rejoicing that she is “home”…..oh how sweet. Praying for all, sweet memories and grace for your time over seas.
She is wrapped in His everlasting arms..So very sorry for your loss..Ellen! oxooxo
Many prayers winging to the throne for your father and all the family. May he come to see his wife’s passing on such a meaningful day as one of the last gifts she could give him. And my heart goes out to you there in England…now is the time to trust that your siblings have everything under control as The Father has had all along. Much love to you all and the comfort only He can give.
Very sad for you and your family, but what wonderful memories you will have of such a special lady.
I am shedding some tears for you…..for your Dad too….but thinking about what you have written in the past, what a legacy she left!
Ellen, my heartfelt condolences. As your title says, that’s the main consolation: she’s with Jesus now. I’m sure memories of her will sustain your family. Take care.
What a beautiful tribute to your mom. My heart goes out to you and your family. When I came to your blog after seeing the headline, “Mom is with Jesus,” I first saw the beautiful table at the top of your blog and thought, “She is seated at The Great Banquet at the Lord’s table.”
Her new wedding day…with her long loved bridegroom Christ at the wedding supper. I can’t help but marvel that she has both her earthly and heavenly wedding day both at the same time.
Praying for the loving hearts left behind for now…
Awww Ellen – that is so sad for you and your family – and yet happy at the same time. Thinking of your sweet dad and his deep love for his beloved wife. Praying the Lord holds him so close and fills him with the hope that they will be together again. Love to you!
I’m so sorry to hear this news, Ellen. I hope that you will be able to rest in Christ and enjoy your time in England while your heart certainly wishes to be closer to your dad and other family. Praying for your family, for comfort, peace and love.
So perfectly expressed I am tagging off Lorrie’s comment. Rejoicing for your dear mom, but so sorry for your loss.
Ellen: You also are in my prayers and your Dad. I know they were exception Christian leaders and great is her reward in heaven. She is absent from the body but PRESENT WITH THE LORD!
Don’t you know she is basking in the presence of her Savior and Her Heavenly Father? I understand your sorrow and your hope. I have experienced it…twice. Praying for you and your family. So glad you are going to finish your trip.
Ellen I’m so sorry. Even though you knew it was coming, I know it doesn’t lessen the ache. May the fact that she is now with the Lord bring you much joy and comfort. Praying for your family.
The beautiful photos of your mother – her smile as she is surrounded by her children – her Hope for the future, her Faith as your legacy – I couldn’t help but think what a beautiful and appropriate name your mother had. May Eternal Light shine upon her.
Hi Ellen, Thank you so much for sharing your mom’s journey as she “finished well.” It seems like a conundrum to know she is HOME and you are all left to carry on without her. What a legacy she has left to you all! I hope you memories continue to comfort you.

The beautiful faces on each photo you shared today hold a peace. I always imagine heavenly chores signing and Jesus ever so tenderly embracing His loved one. How tender is His care for you in these days of sorrow. Praying that He will give you the oil of joy for mourning. Praying for you all. With love.
I know you will miss her, so will I! I always loved reading about you dear mom and dad. I will surely be praying for your dad . I am sure she is enjoying the Lord’s company, but you will miss hers. God bless you all, Ellen.
Thank you, Ellen, for letting us all know. We continue to be in prayer for your family, sorrowing with you for the separation but rejoicing with you that she is with her Beloved in heaven. God bless you and give you peace and grace in the days to come.
My heart goes out to you, Ellen…I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time…
I have fond memories of enjoying meals in your parents’ home when I attended Biola and lived with Len & Kathy. Your mother was very gracious and hospitable and included me in your family’s celebrations on several occasions. May the Lord comfort you all in the days ahead. I will be praying – especially for your dad.
While I know you have a treasure of memories, it is soo heart wrenching to say ‘good-bye’ for the duration of this earthly life. My heart goes out to your Dad who will feel the loss soo keenly… May God comfort him and you knowing that you will see her again — and that not too far in the future!
Even through a blog, so many are so blessed to read about a family like yours. What a beautiful life. Blessings on these weeks and months I pray for you and yours and Pop of course :). Thankful thankful for You Jesus and your promise of many rooms…
Just checking in and wishing you God’s comfort wherever you are today.
Sorry for the loss of your precious sweet mom. Praise God she is with him! Praying for your dad and your family.
God bless you all
“With Jesus”—such comforting words for your whole family. May God especially give comfort and peace to your father; he will feel her absence so much.
I am so sorry. I will pray for you all. Thankful for the hope we have in Christ!
Oh Ellen, I am so sorry to hear. I was praying that perhaps you will get to see her one last time after your trip. But the Lord obviously has His plan! Thanks for sharing your Mom with your blog readers. I have been inspired by her life. I always love to see her smiles!! Will be praying for you and your family during this time of temporary separation until you meet your Mom again in glory!
