Flowers in Mosaics With Blue?

It’s a stretch but I think there is some blue in the mosaic of my Hydrangea so please click over to Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday and Sally at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday. But wait, I’m also linking to Today’s Thrifty Treasures hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality. Don’t I sound like one of those awful commercials that are selling super duper Magic Cloths or something?

My little potted Hydrangea that I planted a few years ago is really showing well this year. I think I got a total of 5 blooms last year. My friend Beth gave me this Hydrangea a few years back for my birthday and it was pink. When I re-planted it here in this spot it bloomed purple and blue.

On a river trail walk with my sister we did a lot of stopping to take pictures. These are some of the wild flowers we found growing. I’m calling them wild because they seemed to grow on their own with no help from any human being. LOL with that definition all the flowers in my yard are wild. Thank goodness the Master Gardener keeps them alive.

Now for my Thrifty Treasure. I bought this Villeroy and Boch pitcher at Goodwill for $5.95. I decided to bring the outdoors in and use this pitcher as a vase for my hydrangeas. It also will qualify for Blue Monday with it’s blue motif.

This week I’m getting ready for an onslaught of visitors from Southern California. The first group arrives next Monday with overlapping guests arriving the following week. At one point during those two weeks we’ll have 9 out of  state visitors together. Half will be staying with my sister who lives a couple minutes from me and half will be at my house. Whoohoo time to partay! I will probably be a random blogger  during this time.

Dear and I are saving our big trips for the Fall. In September our daughter Katie and I are traveling to Parris Island via Savannah to attend her boyfriend’s graduation from Marine Boot Camp. In October Dear and I are headed to Dallas to visit my brother, SIL, and little Hope. Do you have any travel plans?

Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Today’s Thrifty Treasures ~ Toile Runner

Since Winter is over and Garage Sales have begun again Rhoda at Southern Hospitality has re-instated Thrifty Treasures. Click on over to see the great bargains that people find all across the World.

This week I found this great Toile runner that is reversible and the rooster and duck napkin rings. The runner cost me 99 cents and the napkin rings cost me $3.00.  I need to find one more duck! :0)

I’ve been looking for a vase that would work better for tulips  and I found this one for $3.50 at Goodwill. I’d like to buy some irises this week to replace these poor spent tulips in the vase.

I’m looking forward to getting around to see your bargains this week.

Today’s Thrifty Treasures ~ Rose Bowl +

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is hosting Today’s Thrifty Treasures again this week. Things are winding down for this weekly meme. It’s always fun to see the great bargains that blog thrifty shoppers find! Check it out by clicking over to Southern Hospitality.

Dear and I went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market a couple Sundays ago and I came away with 2 small purchases. I bought a glass bell dome/cloche for $10.00 and a wired something or another for $5.00. When I got the cloche home I was trying to figure out what to display under it and Dear put it over my Gin and Tonic. Hmmm. He thought he was pretty funny. As you can see I came up with something different to put under it. It will be changing again soon with something for Fall. This Saturday we stopped at a garage sale and I picked up this heavy cast iron candlesticks for $4.00.

Thanks Rhoda and happy hunting everyone!

One Thrifty Find…

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is hosting Today’s Thrifty Treasures for a few more weeks so you still have time to join in. Thank you Rhoda.

My thrifty find that I’m showing this week is this 3 tiered tin server. I can’t remember exactly what I paid for it but it was under $5.00.

I’m looking forward to using it soon. Maybe for a fall tea. Hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day Weekend…

Hot Thrifty Buys!

Sunday we link up over at Rhoda’s Southern Hospitality with our Thrifty buys that we’ve found at Garage/Yard Sales or Thrift Shops. Thanks Rhoda!

I’m a consistent Thrift store shopper. Once in a while Dear and I will stop at a Garage Sale. This Saturday was really hot in Southern California…in the 100’s in a lot of spots. We stopped at a few sales but the heat just got us down. We were happy to stop our searches because at our very first spot we bought this beauty!

The vinyl is in such good shape. The metal can use some work, though.

This is a nostalgia piece for me. Do I have a spot for it?….no. Do I have a red kitchen?…no. But for $10.00 I wasn’t leaving it behind.

On our way to Oxnard to see if we could find garage sales by the ocean where it might be cooler we spotted a Spud Nuts Donut Shop! The car automatically drove into the parking lot and this lovely got eaten up by moi! A very light raised iced donut! I felt like I was 5 again.

We didn’t have any luck in Oxnard so we headed to Ventura. After stopping at a few more sales braving the beating hot sun we saw this hole in the wall spot that a lot of middle-aged and older people were stopping at. We knew it was probably a great spot for good Mexican food. Johnny’s Mexican Food on Ventura Ave. in Ventura.

Cars kept driving up and we asked people who had been coming here for 30 years what they were going to order. We took some recommendations and were not disappointed. We were still hot and now very thirsty so we headed down Main St. in Ventura for one of these…

A Pierpont IPA at Anacapa Brewing Company. Very refreshing on a hot summer day. We headed home via a produce stand and bought  fresh white corn to bbq for dinner along with lamb chops. But wait this is suppose to be about thrifty treasures not food even though the white corn was 5 ears for a $1.00!

Last Saturday when it was way cooler out we stopped at a church bazaar and I bought this pair of candlesticks for $2 and this wooden sign for $1.00

On Friday my bloggy friend Willow and I went  thrift store shopping in Oxnard, Ca. All my buys were linens.

The bright Veggie label design tablecloth was $1.95. The doilies were $1.95 for all 4. The sets of napkins were 1.95 for 6 of the blue bordered ones, 95 cents for the 4 off white with little green triangles and $2.00 for the 8 red ones.

I really liked this Americana table runner and it cost 95 cents.

I’m so happy my computer has been working ok for a day that I’m posting this way early and I hope my computer continues to behave and I’ll be able to get around to see everyones treasures. Have a great week everyone…

Thrifty Monday ~ Target Clearance

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is the hostess for this enabling fun weekly exercise of posting the treasures we find at thrift stores, yard sales, garage sales, clearance sales or on the street for free.

I bought this outdoor screen at Target in California over 2 years ago. It was marked down from $99.99 to $12.54! My first thought was to use it at our condo when people had to spend the night so we could give them a little privacy since our guest room ends up being the living room. Well after sitting in the box for over 2 years, I shoved it in my Camry and drove it up with me to Washington and am using it on my patio for the first time.

It’s fun to string lights on it and we move it around depending on where we want to block the sun. I’m considering spray painting it a darker color…

Thrifty and Blue!

This week I’m combining my Thrifty finds with Blue Monday. My two tiered server was $3.99. I liked the yellow blue and green color scheme and set it at the center of my tablescape that I’ll show later this week. I bought packages of these old fashioned looking hankies to layer with my napkins. The hankies were 3 in a package for $1.49. The yellow tablecloth cost me $2.50 and the 6 sage green napkin rings cost $2.99. We had brunch at this table after church today and this evening we’ll be eating dinner at the same table.

Looking forward to seeing your treasures and your blue!
