Signs, signs…

This was a sign I spotted in the Homegoods store that made me take my little camera out of my bag and click. I would have purchased it for the fun of it but I absolutely have no wall space at this old house for this kind of whimsy!

What I did purchase at Homegoods was a table runner for Thanksgiving and something for a Christmas stocking. Speaking of stockings, I’m on a quest to buy 8 new ones this year. Four and four, guys and gals. Found out that the beginning of October is a little too early to find stockings. On my way to Babies R Us (the scariest store on the planet!) I walked into Nordstrom Rack and bought 2 great signs that I’ll put out at Christmas time. After all the whimsical shopping it took some very serious navigating to get around the baby store!

The hardwood floor guys are coming to J & L’s today to sand the floors so Dear has a few days off while the floors get sanded and then refinished. Wonder what adventures we can have with all this free time Dear has? What adventures are happening in your neck of the woods?

I’ll be linking up to signs, signs with Lesley later on today.

Signs from Atlanta…

…as in Georgia.

Besides these signs the “signs” around my house point to company coming. These “signs” include extra organization around this old house. There has been some extra cleaning. Don’t you just love the motivation to go over and above the norm when you have guests coming? We might enjoy some Coca Cola products and some brew…time will tell. We will just be doing it in the far Northwest of the U.S. instead of the Southeastern part where Atlanta hails!

I might be MIA the next few days as my brother Tim and my SIL Leticia are landing in Seattle from Southern California for a few days. Tim is going to install kitchen cabinets at our son and DIL’s house on Friday and Saturday. The girls might have to do some shopping and other fun things while the guys are lifting and hammering! Besides lots of hard work there will be lots of good food and catching up after the work is done.

I Love Fall Y’all!

To start the new season today at sundown I have fences, signs, and fall color for y’all!

The vines covering our neighbors fences are turning color already.

My Dogwood is ablaze in fall colors.

Even the cats on my daily walking route are sporting fall colors.

And at the end of my walk I found a couple of signs to throw in the mix.

Looks like we have a new baby in the neighborhood. I’m not sure if I’d want all the details on a sign in my front yard.

Our fall is beginning with lovely cool mornings and sunny days. Today we are experiencing lots of traffic snarls because the Chinese President is visiting our region and driving around a lot to his different events. I’m happy to be able to stay put at home with only short drives to the grocery store etc. on my list of things to do. Hope your Fall is starting well or if you are in the southern hemispheres, I hope you are enjoying your Spring.

Signs Catching Light

Signs of the times around this old house…

Just watched kids in the neighborhood heading out bright and early for school.

Cooler mornings ushering in Fall.

Windows closed and warmer robes and slippers being worn in the mornings.

Daylight is getting shorter.

Soup and crock pot meals sound real good.

Signs that Teach…

…Good Manners!

Small Points on Table Etiquette

Delicacy of manner at the table stamps both man and woman, for one can, at one glance, discern whether a person has been trained to eat well-i.e. to hold the knife and fork properly, to eat without the slightest sound of the lips, to drink quietly, to use the napkin rightly, to make no noise with any of the implements of the table, and last, but not least, to eat slowly and masticate the food thoroughly. All these points should be most carefully taught to children, and then they will always feel at their ease at the grandest tables in the land.

I’m linking up to ABC Wednesday for the letter G (Good Manners) with thanks to Mrs. Nesbitt and to Roger and the ABC team!

I’m also linking up later this week with signs, signs hosted by Lesley!

Tonight we will be going out to celebrate our son and daughter in love’s 14th wedding anniversary. Thankfully we won’t be at the grandest table in the land and we won’t have a lot of pressure to exhibit the most perfect table manners. The celebration itself will be grand with 4 of our 6 gracing the table!

Signs, signs!

Signs encountered in the month of July traveling and taking company sight seeing in Seattle!

From the Bill and Melinda Gates visitor center in Seattle.

Tourist happenings in downtown Seattle.

A classic car wash in downtown Seattle!

And then outside of Seattle to the very northwestern edge of the contiguous United States, Dear and I had a little getaway to the Olympic Peninsula.

At the Cape Flattery Trail head.

Later this week or early next week I’ll share the beautiful views of Cape Flattery and the lighthouse.

While on the Olympic Peninsula we also stopped at some beautiful lavender farms in Sequim, Washington. This Grosso lavender is a full fluffy variety. I’ll be sharing a post of the lavender farms we visited later, too.

Sequim 089

Not a real clear photo through our windshield but this bumper sticker made me smile on our way back to the ferry that would bring us home from our adventure. Homer Alaska A Quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem.!

I’m adding this post to signs, signs by Lesley! Thanks Lesley!

Sign on a Good Fence!

We have a lovely space close to us where you can walk out on these wooden walkways and see nature at it’s best. The fences along the walkway help to keep you where you should be so you don’t disturb the wildlife!

Can you see all the ducklings?

The vegetation is so lush and green this time of year.

We are having another stretch of dry warm weather and I’ve had to water my plants instead of depending on the rain to do that.

Dear was in New Orleans at a conference and I’m very happy to have him back home. We are celebrating at our favorite Mexican dive.
