Round Robin Challenge ~ Water!

Our challenge for January 30th is water. Just so happens I took about 200 or so photos of the wild California surf after our recent storms. I am narrowing it down to one photo.

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Chickens…

“BOK… BOK… BOK… BOK… means our next challenge is “CHICKENS.” Sherrie, author of the blog, Sherrie’s Stuff, suggested this subject all the way back in January, somehow this seems like the perfect time to take it on!”

Chickens ~ A Rooster is a male chicken…

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Birds

The Round Robin Challenge for today is Birds.

It comes to us by way of the challenge pool and was suggested by Robinella, author of Robinella’s Blog.

From birds in the wild, to the canary you keep in a cage on your desk, it’s all good, and I can’t wait to see it. Click on over to read the rules and join in…

These first two shots were taken from a ferry in the Strait of Juan de Fuca between Canada and the U.S.A.

This Pelican shot was taken at the Malibu Lagoon in Southern California.

This shot of the Canadian geese and one orange beak goose that kind of looks like a Greenland white fronted Goose was taken at Bothell Landing in Bothell, Washington.

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Bottled Up!

Here’s what Karen originally had to say about this topic:

Bottled Up – Show us a bottle. Is it glass or plastic? Is it old? Is there a message inside? Will the contents give you a buzz, or help you fight a cold? You decide!

Maybe it’s not the bottle that matters, but the label. Kim of Nekked Lizard Adventures suggests this variant:

Your favorite wine label (or other favorite beverage)

Carly‘s suggestion focuses on what’s inside the bottle:
Quench My Thirst – Take a photograph of your favorite beverage, in an artistic light. Include a recipe if you have created a completely unique drink.
So there you go! Photograph a bottle or other drinking vessel, its label, and/or whatever liquid refreshment is inside. Make it artsy, make it fun, make it send us running to the fridge or the supermarket, or even the liquor store. It’s up to you! Just be sure to follow the usual guidelines:

A Favorite for the man of the house.

A Washington State Wine that is mighty fine…

Chateau Ste Michelle 2005 Canoe Ridge Estates Merlot

A twist on Sangria from California!

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Silence…

Greetings Robins! Time for your next photo challenge. This challenge was suggested by Monica and it’s more of a concept than a subject. Take a photo that depicts:

Silence

A quiet place, a sign, something lonely, a subject that evokes silence. Lots of possibilities to capture silence in a photo. Look about and listen, you will see silence.

This last week I’ve had some early morning quiet walks along the Sammamish River/Burke Gilman Trail north east of Seattle. My photos are from the trail and of the reading room in Suzzallo Library at the University of Washington where it is silent.

Round Robin Challenge ~ Looking Up!

I so enjoy the Round Robin Challenges. Today is the day for Looking Up!

It’s time for a new challenge! How about the one suggested by Robinella, “Looking Up!” Pretty simple concept, grab your cameras, point them toward the sky, and snap, snap, snap! Birds, Bees, Trees, Airplanes, Blimps, Road Signs, Billboards, Satellite Dishes, Grain Silos, the list of possible subjects is endless. On the other hand, maybe you prefer to shoot something representational of the idea of “Looking Up!” In that case, you might photograph something that inspires a motivational mood in you. Something positive that makes you feel like things are LOOKING UP. It’s up to you to interpret the meaning. Just have fun with it.

This shot was taken last week at Hollywood Beach, Channel Islands/Oxnard. The skies were so great that day!

This one is looking up through an old trellis at Heritage Square in Los Angeles.

There was a fire close to us yesterday and the helicopters were keeping a vigilant watch.

I took a stroll through a historic area of Oxnard on Thursday and took this shot looking up at Santa Clara Catholic church. I went inside and the stained glass and ceiling were amazing. I guess that would be looking up so maybe I’ll add one of those, also.

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Growing…

Every other Saturday or so it’s time for a Round Robin Photo Challenge. This Saturday’s theme is growing. Here are the guidelines…

This one was suggested last year by Jan, AKA Whammy, of The Ellis Family Cincinnati. I’ll let her introduce it:

One of our daughters gave me an idea for a Round Robin…what about “Growing“? We thought we would leave it wide open. Since it was spring it could be flowers in your yard, a baby bird in a nest, grass, budding…or kids growing up.

I guess I should have mentioned that this is an Azalea in my front planter in Washington State.

Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ See the Music!

Welcome to the Round Robin Photo Challenge. This Saturday the theme is “See the Music”

You can be literal with this one, with photos of sheet music, musical instruments, stereo equipment etc., or more abstract, showing something that reminds you of a particular song. Illustrate a Rolling Stones lyric, or photograph your favorite local band, or catch your kid practicing the guitar or clarinet! If it’s suggestive of some kind of music, it counts!

The photos I’m posting are from a trip to Santa Barbara, California and Dallas, Texas…

This sculpture was just off State Street. See the store in the background called Mozart Trio?

This was taken at the Dallas Arboretum.
