The Windmill

This windmill in our back yard was here when we moved in. The windmill served to aerate the pond. Since we don’t need it anymore we sold it to a friend of ours who is putting in a pond on her property. Last Thursday was moving day for the windmill.

The discussions began on how to best lower the windmill safely. Thankfully the windmill was installed on hinges so it could be lowered using the hinges.

Down safely and now to disconnect the fan from the base.

Loaded in the truck and trailer.

Now to remove the anchor pipes. All was completed and Cindy and her windmill went off down the road to her property.

Our friends who came to help brought their puppy with them. Addy and JJ weren’t sure about her but they managed to feed her from their palms.

Time to pull out more water toys for the summer. The kids kept busy with water while the helpers gingerly lowered the Windmill.

We are moving into another mini heat wave here in our corner of the world. It will be a good time for running through sprinklers!

We are fortunate at our property to share a well that is a high producer of water. Some people aren’t as fortunate.

Here in the U.S.A. we are celebrating Flag Day today. Happy Flag Day! Our flag is waving.

White Peonies

My white peony bush is so full of blooms that it is hard to keep up with them. I’ve shared some bouquets but many of our friends have bushes of their own. If someone was getting married this week they could have a beautiful bouquet from our backyard.

We have a quiet weekend coming up and I’m good with that. Next week is busy ending with a busy weekend.

Hope you have a good weekend.

The Grandkids’ Mountain

When Uncle Joshie and Auntie Lolo come to town we have lots of great photos to share. Auntie Lolo knows how to capture the moments.

Saturday June 5th. Time to feed the chickens and check out the garden.

Take in the view before bedtime. Josh had to fly home on Sunday but Auntie Lolo is staying on till Friday.

Today Tuesday June 8th I’ll have my consult about my cataract surgery coming up soon. I should know after my appointment when my procedure will take place. I’m looking forward to better eyesight in the near future.

Local Honey…

…for our local honeys.

Honey sticks from local honey at the farmer’s market last Saturday.

Yesterday was our last real hot day for a while. We made it close to 100 for two days in a row and then on Friday it got upwards to the 90’s. Today we are dropping down to 70 today and then 63 on Sunday. The plants will enjoy the relief.

Our daughter-in-law got some great photos of the fun times in our back yard playing with water launchers that I’ll be downloading soon.

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Keeping Up With Our Grands

Such busy ages that we are enjoying with our grands. Age 4 and 2 are such active ages. They can really tire out a 70 year old. I’m so thankful they choose to love me and tire me out.

Last Friday big sister had some other appointments so little brother got dropped off at our house for a few hours.

After some raking JJ was very interested in the watering possibilities.

He mastered our new water nozzle pretty quick. It was fun to watch the delight a powerful nozzle gave him.

Dear and I were able to get a lot of weeding done while JJ enjoyed the power of the hose.

Addy enjoyed some time with a homeschool Co-op which she is trying out while little brother was with us.

A big transition in the month of May for our 4 year old was the move up from this toddler bed to…

…this twin bed with new bedding. I think she is pleased.

The end of May we also enjoyed seeing our ‘Coast Kids’ via messenger enjoying a night out together.

We’ve been in the upper 90’s the last couple days. Friday we are supposed to be in the upper 80’s. Hot for Spring so there has been a lot of watering happening in the early hours or late hours.

Today Josh and Laura are driving across the Cascades from the ‘Coast’ for the weekend. We are looking forward to catching up with them and the grands will be thrilled to see Uncle Joshie and Auntie Lolo! A brisket will go on the Traeger early and cook long and slow for dinner here after they arrive.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

St Paul’s Mission Kettle Falls

When our friends from the coast, Bob and Jan, came to visit last week we took an outing to see this historical site and to walk through the museum.

You can find some history of this area here.

History of Fort Colville can be found here.

“This grooved boulder was a favorite whetstone used by generations of Indians who camped at the south end of the fishery. Left there by the last glacier, it is made of amphibolite, more fine-grained than the local bedrock. The stone has been placed here in the same position in which it was used to sharpen the spear points, knives and other implements used to harvest the salmon.”

We stopped in to the museum and I only took a few photos.

While our friends were here we enjoyed a couple meals out and some meals in. By far the favorite meal was at El Ranchito where we were treated like royalty…again. We had lots of good conversation and relaxed time together. We said goodbye on Friday morning and after they left our little grandson was dropped off for a play date with Baba and Gramps while big sister went to a Preschool/homeschool co-op for a few hours.

More to come from our time with JJ.

This and That

It was a beautiful day on Friday and we did some mowing since the ground was still somewhat wet from rain we had into Thursday that means not as much dust kicked up. After mowing the front we worked on the back and we moved on to weeding and clearing some areas of rock. We didn’t hear the commotion on the road.

We had several law enforcement agencies show up after a car ended up in a ditch on our road.

I brought in the first of the peonies that are blooming. We have a total of 5 bushes of this deep blush variety.

The Columbines are opening up. We have at least three different color varieties.

The Hostas are filling out nicely.

Thankfully these visitors don’t like to eat Columbine.

We enjoyed leftovers for our main meals on Friday and Saturday and then cooked up these shrimp for something different. Delicious with sweet chili sauce.

Sunday was our oldest sister’s 75th birthday so us sisters sent her a bouquet of flowers delivered on Saturday.

We were so pleased that the bouquet was as advertised and shown on the website. Our sister was celebrated well and it was fun to see all the special things she was treated with.

This is a busy week coming up for us here in Colville. Hope you all had a good weekend and your new week goes well.

On the Move…

We’ve had several deer coming through the yard lately. They’ve been moving about in groups. This one was rushing to join up with her gang.

We are warming up again in these parts so I’ll have to be watering again.

Hats Off to Mothers

On Saturday we had a lovely event at our church in honor of Mothers. We enjoyed special music, skits, and a devotional. For our meal we had tea sandwiches and salads with cupcakes for dessert. That’s me on the right with the Fascinator on for my version of a hat.

On Sunday we had an encouraging church service and after church we went out to lunch with our Colville kids and grands. Josh and Laura sent me this gift that will have a special place in our home.

If you look closely you’ll see each of our children’s names. Such a thoughtful gift.

Happy Monday Everyone. Hope this new week is a good one. I’ll be mowing the acreage today. Spring grass grows fast!

Awana Awards Night

Our little Cubbie enjoyed her first Awana Awards night on Wednesday. Cubbies are the 3 to 5 year old group.

She really lights up for her friend.

She had lots of fans in the audience to watch her receive her award.

Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, AWANA. 2 Timothy 2:15 is the theme verse.

There were hotdogs, chips, cookies, lemonade and games for the kids outside after the Awards Ceremony.

JJ enjoyed himself.

On Thursday our temps got up into the 80’s! Our community participated in the National Day of Prayer at the Colville Courthouse lawn. Several pastors including ours prayed for different groups, our government, our schools, law enforcement and military, our familes, our businesses, and our churches. Stevens County Commissioners read a declaration pertaining to the National Day of Prayer.

We have a busy few days ahead of us here at our Country Bungalow. Do you have any plans for Mother’s Day Weekend?
