Round Robin Photo Challenge ~ Birds

The Round Robin Challenge for today is Birds.

It comes to us by way of the challenge pool and was suggested by Robinella, author of Robinella’s Blog.

From birds in the wild, to the canary you keep in a cage on your desk, it’s all good, and I can’t wait to see it. Click on over to read the rules and join in…

These first two shots were taken from a ferry in the Strait of Juan de Fuca between Canada and the U.S.A.

This Pelican shot was taken at the Malibu Lagoon in Southern California.

This shot of the Canadian geese and one orange beak goose that kind of looks like a Greenland white fronted Goose was taken at Bothell Landing in Bothell, Washington.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial

It’s time to visit Susan A Southern DayDreamer to join in on Outdoor Wednesday.

I was driving past the Acacia Memorial Park in Shoreline, Washington last week and noticed all the flags flying. Being a curious blogger I popped a U-ie made a U-turn to see what was going on. The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall was being exhibited for 3 days on this site. It was a sobering experience.

“The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall is dedicated to all Americans who served in Vietnam and honors all veterans of the U.S. military. The three-day exhibition is sponsored by Vietnam Veterans Association posts 102 and 423 and local Dignity Memorial funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.”

“The monument was created as a service to those who might never travel to the nation’s capital to experience the Vietnam Veterans Memorial firsthand,” said Donna Wagner, director of Dignity Memorial providers in Seattle. “Our replica offers visitors a chance for healing and reflections, and we are very pleased to be able to share it with the community.”

North and South…

We left our home in Washington Sunday at 5:15 A.M. and made it to our Condo in Southern California at 11:30 P.M. This photo was taken in Southern Washington before we crossed the border into Oregon.

Today I’m unpacking and trying to get organized for the week. We have our daughter and her boyfriend here, too. I’m dodging 2 extra inflatable beds on the floor in the living area and our bedroom. Ben and Katie are busy and away each day doing all the dizzy parks. I’ll have a couple days of floor space this week while they stay with our nieces in Orange County. Wednesday is family day at the “Happiest Place on Earth”. A lot of us are meeting up to spend the day together and see Miss Hope in action.

Hope everyone’s week is going well…

Window Views ~ Washington State Ferry

My Window Views this week were all taken on a Washington State Ferry from Anacortes, through the San Juan Islands to Sidney on Vancouver Island, Canada.

Our ride was mostly misty, moisty, foggy…

Another Ferry through the mist…

As we approached Vancouver Island things got brighter.

Meet My New BFF’s!!

These are my new Best Friends Forever!

All because of this…

History making and record breaking temperatures in Western Washington. And yes that dial is above the 100 degree mark.

I’m headed out today to hopefully buy an inflatable bed so that I can sleep in the basement tonight where it is at least 15 degrees cooler then the rest of the house. My bedroom is on the 2nd level (3rd level if you count the basement). It gets quite toasty up there.

Here’s something from this week that I find pretty funny…

Verizon is putting Fios in our neighborhood. Our yard is the lucky yard where these boxes have lived and the new fios one gets to live. After putting in the new equiptment the nice worker bees replaced my dead grass with fresh new green grass. This morning the water truck pulled up and they watered that new grass. Just made me chuckle…

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Juanita Bay Park

It’s time to visit Susan at A Southern Daydreamer to join in the fun of Outdoor Wednesday. I’m avoiding the outdoors today and the next couple days as we are threatened with record breaking heat. We’ve broken some records today and they think tomorrow will reach triple digit temps here in Western Washington. That’s big news for our region which is used to having weather in the 70’s this time of year…

My walk at Juanita Bay Park late last week was in cooler temps and these photos are reminding me it will cool down again soon, I hope!

Did you spot the Blue Heron in this photo. He was way out of my camera range but I zoomed as far as I could to capture this shot of him…

Ruby Tuesday ~ Espresso Anyone?

Here in the Seattle area we have espresso stands on almost every corner or it seems that we do. Here is a unique stand I saw on Sunday while we were in Maltby, Washington. It has been really hot for a few days here in the Seattle area so the only Espresso I’d be getting these days is iced!

This old sign was in the same area and I thought of Ruby Tuesday…

To see more Ruby Tuesday Posts visit the Mary the Professor at Work of the Poet.

Blue Monday ~ Church and Cinnamon Rolls!

It’s time to join Smiling Sally for Blue Monday. Click on the logo above to join in the fun!

When we’re in Washington we go to church with our kids to Eastlake in Bothell. It’s a great church with very loud music. I really enjoyed this blue background. Yes and church will start on the dot in 4 minutes and 17 seconds!

After church this Sunday I joined my kids with my DIL’s grandma Wilma for brunch at the Maltby Cafe in the little town of Maltby. The Maltby cafe is known for their wonderful huge cinnamon rolls. We split it 4 ways and it was more then enough. Our egg dishes were wonderful, too. I figured there is plenty of blue in my collage to qualify for Blue Monday.

Have a wonderful week everyone…
