Tablescape Thursday ~ In the Yard!

When I was at my home in Washington State I thought it would be fun to do a tablescape outdoors. The weather was lovely and I raced against the setting sun to set this table in my front yard. The neighbors are probably wondering about me…

This is a vintage tablecloth that my MIL had in her stash. The hobnob little clear & milky plates are from Dear’s Great, great aunt Emma. The old silver flatware is from Dear’s parents too.

We bought these beautiful daffodils at Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. I loved the fullness of them and the added orange.

Oh and looky here Jack Sparrow and Sparra Queen Warbeak made it into an actual tablescape!

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Washington State

My walking buddies and I have been walking this trail along the Sammamish River in Washington every Saturday for years now. I miss a lot of Saturdays these days because I’m living in Southern California right now but when I travel back to Washington we meet again on Saturday mornings at 9:00 and walk our 6 miles. Jody and Jan still walk the trail while I’m in California.

Isn’t this chubby little bird cute? I was so pleased it sat still till I could zoom in and get a photo.

Metamorphosis Monday ~ Lawn

It’s time for Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

Dear and I were at our home in Seattle for the last 10 days celebrating Easter with our kids and getting some things done around the house. While we were there it was time for the first mowing after the Winter lull in grass growth. So I’m showing the before and after shots that I took.

Don’t you just love the look and smell of a freshly mowed grass?! OK, Ok, truth be told we really can’t call this a lawn, it’s mostly moss and dandelions but all 1/3 acres of it is ours. Hopefully some day we can tear it all out and re-seed…

Dear and I are just back to our Condo in Southern California. We had some interesting flight challenges that put us in 2-1/2 hours later than we expected. Now I’ve got to replace my Seattle brain with my Southern California brain! Ejola!

Tablescape Thursday ~ Easter Brunch

My tablescape this week is from my home in Washington State. We had brunch with our children after church on Easter Sunday.

Our traditional Russian Easter Bread ~ Kulich. My sister Lana G! and I baked this by ourselves for the first time this year.

We also made the traditional sweet cheese topping for the bread called Seerney Paska in Russian. The X is the first letter in Russian for Christ and the B is pronounced V in Russian and it stands for Arose. Christ Arose…

Our little bunnies are holding the signs for the reason we celebrate Easter. Again this is written in Russian Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

Here are our children after our yummy brunch of Swedish Pancakes which Dear made for all of us. We had to get the Swedish heritage in there, too.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Spring in Washington

Welcome to another Outdoor Wednesday hosted by Susan at A Southern DayDreamer. My Outdoor photos this week were all taken in the Puget Sound Area of Washington. I’m here till Sunday enjoying my kids and home. We fly back to Southern Cali on Sunday.

One of our most recognizable landmarks the Space Needle. The rest of the photos are from my yard to show you what’s blooming and budding here in Western Washington.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Crosses…

I’m continuing my Easter/Holy week theme with Outdoor Wednesday for this week. I love to walk through old cemeteries where there are above the ground headstones. There are always the coolest crosses to be found.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 (New International Version)

Christ the Wisdom and Power of God

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

Seattle Sounders 3 ~ N.Y. Red Bulls 0 ~ Welcome Spring!!

What fun for Seattle last night and my sons, nephew David and friend Beau! They attended the Inaugural game for the Seattle Sounders and they got to see them win with a sell-out crowd who were very loud. Seattle fans are known for cheering loudly.

I really enjoy seeing my sons together having a good time!

The signs of Spring that I enjoy!

Easter, Renewal, Strawberries, Flowers, Bird Nests, and Soccer!

Happy Spring Everyone. May this be the year of fresh revival in your Spirit, Soul, Heart and Mind!

Outdoor Wednesday this week is from my trip to the Seattle Area last week. I returned home to California on Sunday afternoon. I experienced all kinds of weather while I was in Washington.

The sun was shining bright on Friday. I was in the Edmonds area and this is the view of the Puget Sound across to the Kitsap Peninsula. The snow capped mountains are in the Olympic Mountain range.

Edmonds is also home to Rick Steves and his travel business.

On Saturday morning I met my walking buddies in Kenmore on Lake Washington for a 6 mile round trip walk to Bothell and back on the Burke Gilman trail.

Even though it was cold and misty I still got some photos in. I was happy to see this Robin.

The trail at this point goes along the Slough which connects Lake Washington to Lake Sammamish.

Just before I left for California on Sunday we got another dusting of snow.

When I was putting this post together and I was looking at the ones from our walk this song kept going through my head.

“All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey, I’ve been for a walk on a winter’s day. I’d be safe and warm if I was in L.A., California dreaming on such a winter’s day.”  Yep the Mama’s and the Papa’s were a hit group while I was in high school.  Anybody else out there remember listening to them way back when? I also got to go to one of their concerts!

Friday’s Fave Five ~ Seattle Style

It’s time to consider the past week and to record some of our favorites!

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is our trusty hostess for this weekly event.

My favorites are all about family, friends, food, fun and the Father.

Since I’m in Seattle this week instead of Southern California I’ve been able to spend time with my adult children. We’ve enjoyed meals together, conversation, laughter and work. They are really into playing Rock Band and it’s been fun watching and listening to them enjoy this interactive game.

I’ve run into friends this week and it’s been fun catching up. On Saturday I’ll be walking with my buddies on our 6 mile Burke Gilman walk. Maybe I’ll have a picture to share next week.  Willow ~ Saturday will be my first walk since last Thursday when we walked…yikes!

This week the theme for my 40 day Journey with Jesus is my relationship with God the Father. It’s amazing to be reminded about what love the Father has for us and to respond to that love. I also treasure the beautiful things He’s created for us to enjoy like this scene on Lake Washington from Kirkland, Washington.

I have my yearly this morning so I’ll try to get around to your favorites later today. Have a wonderful Friday everyone.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Kirkland & Woodinville

My Outdoor Photos this week were taken in Washington while I’m here for a week. We’ve had some great sun breaks between rain showers and I’ve been enjoying the interesting clouds.

This was taken in Kirkland, Washington on Tuesday looking across Lake Washington towards downtown Seattle. The water on the lake was like glass and I was amazed at all the reflection on the water.

Looking back to the shore with the trees reflected in the water.

When I was done in Kirkland I headed to Woodinville to Ste Michelle Winery.

The winery is a beautiful place to stroll any time of the year.
