He Pampers Me…

and puts up with my whimseys.

I told him I really needed a Hummingbird Feeder outside my computer window.

So he got out his ladder and tools and came up with a way to hang  the feeder so I could see it outside the window.

Perfect…just at the right height for me to see the Hummingbirds come and feed. Now we wait…

What’s that looking at me?

Such beautiful fast little birds.

I’m so happy for these little wonders to come and visit and have a sip before they speed off again!

I’m linking up with Mary at Work of the Poet for Ruby Tuesday since my feeder is ruby. I hope to catch a photo of a Ruby Throated Hummingbird soon.

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Is It Tuesday Already?

Monday Holidays always throw me for a loop.

We had a great Memorial Day and we pulled out all the red, white and blue we could find. Dear even made some red and blue drinks.

Dear’s father served in New Guinea during World War II. He was front and center at our Memorial Day observance.

There were 7 of us around the table enjoying our barbecued steak, corn on the cob, baked potatoes and salad. We had a lemon pound cake with strawberries and blueberries for dessert along with Nazook that my sister Lana had baked.

After nonstop rain and clouds for several days running we finally had a sun break in the afternoon the girls headed out to the deck to see if they could get their daily requirement of Vitamin D!!

It’s going to take me a while to catch up with all of you. First I have to get used to it being Tuesday already and being behind a day…

I’m going to link this to Ruby Tuesday…since it’s Tuesday already. Thanks to Mary at Work of the Poet for our Ruby fun…

Ruby Tuesday ~ Pears

My pears are just beginning to grow and at this stage they are a nice ruby color. They will end up being green with some golden added in but for today they are just right for Ruby Tuesday.

Please visit Mary at Work of the Poet who is the hostess for this weekly meme.

For those of you who wonder why a meme for Tuesday starts on Monday, it’s because most of these memes are international and somewhere out there it’s Tuesday already!

Ruby Tuesday ~ Memories…

Time for Ruby Tuesday and my photo editor is giving me grief so I can’t upload new photos but I had this one in my drafts and I’m missing and remembering our fun times at this old Camarillo establishment. So bear with me as I reminisce about the good ole days a few months ago in Southern California. Visit Mary at Work of the Poet to see more Ruby posts! Mary! I was going to be posting a photo of my very young and new pears that are just starting to grow on my tree but my photo uploader is failing me!!

And for clarification we moved from our Southern California condo back to our home in Washington State at the end of February of this year. We are very thankful to be back in Washington but that doesn’t mean we don’t miss our friends and some of our favorite restaurants! We’d love to transfer the great chips from El Tecolote to our favorite Mexican restaurant here. The salsa here is fabulous but their chips “…have been weighed on the scales and found wanting” .

Happy Tuesday to all who pass this way…

Ruby Tuesday ~ Finches

I bought a new bird feeder and it just happens to be a Ruby one! I put out two new types of seed. This is the first time I’ve seen these birds feeding from my kitchen window. From what I can see in my Field Guide to Western Birds this is a Evening Grosbeak Finch.

Ruby Tuesday ~ Start to Finish!

Time to visit Mary at Work of the Poet to join in on some Ruby Tuesday Fun!

On Saturday morning I arrived at the Crista Campus in Seattle to join with over a thousand people for a 5K fun run/walk to raise money and awareness about Human Trafficking. The “Free Them 5K” started on the campus and took us on a route through the neighborhoods surrounding the campus. Crista’s motto is “Loving God and Serving People”. There are 7 different ministries at Crista (maybe more) Our DIL is a part of World Concern Organization that works to relieve suffering around the world. They’ve had an ongoing ministry in Haiti and other impoverished areas. This walk was sponsored by World Concern.

Josh and his BIL ran the 5K. I joined my DIL’s mother and SIL to walk the 5K. Laura (my DIL) worked the event. We had a great time for a great cause.

The building in the first photo was designed by Daniel R. Huntington and built in 1913-14 as part of the Firland Tuberculosis Hospital. It is now used as an administration building.

Ruby Tuesday ~ Descanso Gardens

On Saturday my daughter and I were in the Los Angeles area and we met some family members at Descanso Gardens. What a beautiful garden to stroll through. The roses were beginning to open up nicely…

I decided to add this photo so you could get an idea of what part of the Rose Garden at Descanso looks like…

Ruby Tuesday ~ Glass Tulips

We spotted these glass tulips in a shop in La Conner, Washington a few weekends ago. The Tulip Festival is just about to begin in the Skagit Valley. A most amazing sight to see rows and rows of colorful tulips growing in the fields.

Please visit Mary at Work of the Poet where you can join in the Ruby Tuesday fun…

Ruby Tuesday ~ Downtown Seattle…

Welcome to Ruby Tuesday. Please visit Mary at Work of the Poet to see more Ruby from around the world.

My shot this week was taken in downtown Seattle in Pioneer Square. I thought the old neon sign advertising  75 cent rooms was fabulous and how great that the building was built with Ruby bricks, too.
