Signs and Fences…

Last Friday on a hop on hop off bus tour of San Francisco while it was raining I managed to get some photos of some fences and some signs.

Alice day S.F 045

This fence/gate was spotted in the historic civic center area of San Francisco and this was across the street from the San Francisco City Hall that looks a lot like the U.S. Capitol building.

Here is probably the most photographed bridge in the U.S.A., the Golden Gate Bridge. You can see how rainy it was this day. These fences play a very important roll on this bridge. I’m devoting a whole post with all my photos of the Golden Gate Bridge soon.

It’s time to link up with Lesley for signs, signs and with Tex*Wis*Girl for Good Fences #97!

Dear and I continue to walk about our neighborhood after all our uphill/downhill walks in San Francisco last week. We are trying to set some good habits for our health. I have some fences to share another time from our neighborhood walk.

A fence out of season that I missed showing earlier. This is a shot from the beginning of October. It’s a fence put up to block the view of a large construction project at a popular shopping area (University Village) close to the University of Washington in Seattle. It’s a nice reminder of a different season. The next photo shows our privacy fence when we had a light snowfall.

The contrast of seasons. Are you still enjoying Winter?

How to make a chain link fence more interesting…

I saw this wall just off the pier in Huntington Beach.

I’m sharing these fences from California that I took in October on Good Fences #87 with TexWisGirl.

We are enjoying electricity again after being without it for 24 hours. We have started our thankfulness early! We are thankful the temperatures were mild for this outage instead of freezing. Before the power went out I baked Snickerdoodles and if you click over to Mennonite Girls Can Cook you’ll see the recipe I used.

I’m glad I didn’t do my Thanksgiving food shopping early. Hard to believe Thanksgiving is a week from today! I’m not sure what day I’ll be making our turkey. We are invited to our friends home on Thanksgiving day. My brother and his lovely wife will be flying up for a week and will spend the holiday with us. What are your plans this year?

Good Fences ~California

I was in Southern California for seven days coming home this past Monday night. My original plans were to be there on the weekend for a baby shower and to visit my pop but those plans changed when I got word that my BIL was in the hospital so I flew down earlier in the week. My drive to the hospital took me past Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study building on La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California. Since traffic is a given on this busy road I was able to snap a couple photos while stopped, waiting for the signals to change.

Signs and Fences…

We took a day off from the ordinary and hit the roads east from our home to Duvall and Carnation. This is the drive into Remlinger Farms in Carnation. I’ll show you all the fun signs and fence decorations we saw.  Click here if you want to see their webpage. Here’s a little blurb about the farm; We started as a small family run farm and fruit stand and have slowly grown over the years into the Family Fun Park, Market, Restaurant and Company Picnic site we are today. Check out all we have to offer.

What are those things in the field? Here are some close-ups!

Makes me thing about being “over a barrel” but these scarecrows seem happy to be over these wheels!

We enjoyed shopping in the farm market while we were here and brought home a Remlinger Bumbleberry Pie and some Sweet Baby Corn. The bunch of carrots are from another farm we stopped at.

This was before I baked the pie. It was delicious!

This farm holds some fun family memories from the early 90’s when my husband’s employer hosted annual company picnics here. Food, drinks, and entertainment for the whole family. These were our all-time favorite company events.

Hope you all have time to get out and enjoy some fall whimsy!

I Love Fall Y’all!

To start the new season today at sundown I have fences, signs, and fall color for y’all!

The vines covering our neighbors fences are turning color already.

My Dogwood is ablaze in fall colors.

Even the cats on my daily walking route are sporting fall colors.

And at the end of my walk I found a couple of signs to throw in the mix.

Looks like we have a new baby in the neighborhood. I’m not sure if I’d want all the details on a sign in my front yard.

Our fall is beginning with lovely cool mornings and sunny days. Today we are experiencing lots of traffic snarls because the Chinese President is visiting our region and driving around a lot to his different events. I’m happy to be able to stay put at home with only short drives to the grocery store etc. on my list of things to do. Hope your Fall is starting well or if you are in the southern hemispheres, I hope you are enjoying your Spring.

Good Fences

I think my favorite fences are of the British variety.

Looking back at some of the fences and other lovely sights we saw in September of 2013 in Jolly Old England. On this trip we stuck to England and didn’t venture into Scotland or Wales. Don’t miss the thatched roof on this home that was for sale.

On our first day in England in 2013 we drove north from Heathrow and stopped in Stoke Bruerne. Stoke Bruerne is a small village and civil parish in South Northamptonshire, England about 10 miles north of Milton Keynes and 7 miles south of Northampton. We ate and had a stroll along the canal. Our destination this day was the little village of Alton.

Katie started a new eight to five job yesterday. She is very thankful for a job that is easy to get to and does not involve getting on a freeway. I mowed the lawn and weeds and leaves yesterday. Since everyone else was working hard I decided to do my part.

Is it soup weather where you are yet?
