Today’s Thrifty Treasures ~ June 22nd

It’s time to join Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for another Thrifty Treasures Monday! Thank you for hosting Rhoda. Just click on the button above to see more Treasures.

I found this cup and saucer by Unicorn, English Tableware, Made in Staffordshire, England at my local Goodwill. It was $3.00. I find it very hard to walk away from anything blue and white and at this price I wasn’t about to! This next purchase was a splurge for me…

I found this silverplate at a little Thrift store in my hometown. I really liked the pattern and there were 41 pieces. I paid $25.00 for all 41 pieces. I took my magnifying glass out to read Simeon L. & George H. Rogers Company X/TRA Oneida Ltd.

I have one more image to share with you of a little thrift store shopper at my local Goodwill.

She kept going back to the shoes to pick a new pair of heels to walk around the store in. LOL!

Happy Thrifty Monday to everyone. I was so amazed at all the goodies everyone found last week at such great prices. I’m looking forward to see what everyone found this week!

Rise Up, O Men of God! ~ Hymn

Rise Up, O Men Of God!

Rise up, O men of God!
Have done with lesser things.
Give heart and mind and soul and strength
To serve the King of kings.

Rise up, O men of God!
The kingdom tarries long.
Bring in the day of brotherhood
And end the night of wrong.

Rise up, O men of God!
The church for you doth wait,
Her strength unequal to her task;
Rise up and make her great!

Lift high the cross of Christ!
Tread where His feet have trod.
As brothers of the Son of Man,
Rise up, O men of God!

Friday’s Fave Five

It’s Friday and time to recall our favorites from this past week. Head over to Susanne’s at Living to Tell the Story to participate or see some favorites.

It was wonderful to have morning walks this week with Willow without our typical June Gloom. The skies were bright and we even had a few clouds mixed in with the blue!

The hydrangeas are blooming full right now and they always make me smile.

The birds are so much more active and visible when we walk in the morning. I’m happy when they sit still long enough for me to snap a photo.

I really have become a person who loves photography. If I can be out with my camera I’m a happy camper. I kept getting closer and closer to this critter trying not to scare it off it’s perch.

I’m not a sit on the beach all day kind of person but I do love early morning walks on the beach. Seeing any beach wildlife is such a bonus.

Looking forward to seeing your favorites from the last week later in the day. I’m driving across town this morning to take my Pop and Mom out for a Father’s Day breakfast with my sister Kathy. Have a wonderful Father’s Day and beginning of Summer weekend everyone!

A Cloche Party!

Welcome to A Cloche Party hosted by Marty at A Stroll Through Life. If you’ve wondered what in the world a Cloche is or what people do with them today is your day! Click on over to A Stroll Through Life and see a day in the life of a Cloche or other enclosures…

This is my wired bird cage cloche that I picked up at Michaels along with the feathered birdie and nesting material. I don’t have a more traditional glass cloche…

I’m only a bird in a gilded cage
It’s the place that I call home
The window’s large with the nicest view
The bars are pink and all the locks are blue…

My 99 cent ginger jar with pink glass flowers in it. The stems of pink and white are from K-Mart- Martha Stewart Christmas decorating stems that I bought at the after Christmas clearance. I’m thinking I should add something in the bottom to cover up the stems… But never mind, I’ll just put my shells in it instead. I could have put sand in the bottom first but I didn’t have any sand so it’s just the shells. I picked up all these shells myself at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, California.

Cheese and fruit in a cheese dome. I could have put a cute birdie knick knack or something like that in it but all my little cute stuff is in Washington and I’m in California right now.

I gave the dome a little height by putting it on a Glass cake plate.

What’s nice about this piece is that the glass dome fits over the glass bottom  not into it unlike this dome below.

I had to put the dome upside down and fill it with the limes and lemons and then put the bottom on upside down so the fruit didn’t get in the way of closing…

Now say “Bye Bye, Birdie” to all our nice guests who have visited us today!

Foodie Friday ~ Inside Picnic…

This hasn’t been a typical week for us and we’ve eaten off our usual track. Last night we decided on a picnic in front of the T.V. Being empty nesters who moved away from their nest to get to an empty one, no relationship was harmed by eating in front of the T.V. Dear and I have plenty face to face meals with lots of meaningful conversations!

We had hard cheese, soft cheese, smoked cheese. My favorite was the Stilton with apricots. A fresh small loaf of bread and crackers. Genoa Salami, avocado, grapes and peaches. To drink I made a White Sangria. Here’s the recipe.

3-1/2 cups dry white wine (your typical bottle is just enough)
1/2 cup Cointreau or Triple Sec
1/4 cup sugar
ice cubes
1 10-oz. club soda
1 orange
1 lemon
2 limes

Combine first 3 ingredients and stir till sugar is dissolved. If you are going to serve it right away add the club soda now and the sliced citrus. Fill glass you choose to use with ice and pour the sangria over and enjoy. You could use some of the fruit for garnish if you’d like.  If you plan to make it ahead refrigerate the first 3 ingredients and then add the rest of the ingredients just before your company arrives. (I go ahead and add the citrus ahead of time because I like the added flavor)

Be sure to visit our hostess Gollum at Designs by Gollum on Friday to see more Foodie Posts!

Tablescape Thursday ~ Royal Stafford

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday! Please visit our hostess Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to visit more tables .

This week I’m setting the table with my Royal Stafford Dishes with Country Scenes on them. I bought 8 dinner plates and 8 salad plates from Marshalls. The dinner plates were $3.95 each and the salad plates were $2.95 each.

I bought the goblets at Goodwill and they cost me $3.00 for all 4.

I layered the black and white polka dot napkins and used the pearl napkin rings I bought at Target clearance a couple years ago.

Thank you for visiting me here and taking the time to comment. I do appreciate all my visitors and new bloggy friends.

Blessings…

WFW ~ I Samuel 7:12 ~ Ebenezer

From ESV Study notes: “…this ebenezer recalls the earlier episode, when the Israelites tried to manipulate their God by carrying the ark into battle only to suffer a resounding defeat. Now God has given them a great victory over the same enemies. Samuel sets up a memorial stone with the name Ebenezer, “Stone of Help,” not only to commemorate the victory but also as a reminder of the different results brought about by presumption on the one hand and by repentance on the other.”

Till now the Lord has helped us. The saying means that the Lord had been with them all the way “to this place” or “to this hour.”
