Yard Art ~ Random…

Have you spotted any interesting Yard Art in your neighborhood or on your drives here and there?

One walk and two very different pieces of yard art. For the second one I had to try to aim my camera over a fence so I didn’t get the best angle.

Please visit Mary at Work of the Poet to see more “ART”

We’re having our first really hot day of the season today with tomorrow promising to be hotter still. I’m laying low enjoying World Cup soccer. I’ve been reading another great book by L.M. Montgomery called Chronicles of Avonlea. Each chapter is a stand alone story. Makes me want to visit Kathie on Prince Edward Island. I’m working on getting inspired to walk again more regularly. We will be having  family coming to Washington from Southern California starting July 19th and continuing to August 3rd. Going to have to get my pantry in order….next week.

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Yard Art Inspires…

…me to walk around different streets in my Barrio…

This one looks real from so far away. I zoomed in to get this shot.

I don’t know how many more winters this will survive.

Yard Art…Contrasts

Time again to visit Mary at Work of the Poet and see what people are putting in their yards these days…

So I was having myself a little chuckle as I noticed these contrasts in yard art. You have your lion and your bunny here. At least it is a smiling lion. I was thinking the lion and a  lamb would have been a good pairing.

Then you have what I believe is the Madonna at the front door with your classic Gnome down the stairs. Makes me want to sing this song even if there weren’t more then 2 things…

“One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?”

I’m so glad there is yard art to entertain me on my walks!

Progress and Coyotes…

It’s Thursday morning and the sun is shining right now but we have a small system moving through later. I wanted to show you some photos of our attic now that I have everything back up there.

Lots of stuff but we still have half the floor space up there vacant…she pats herself on the back.

On to our outdoor progress…

These are before and after looks at the side yard.

Yesterday the gravel and the concrete blocks arrived. After the gravel was delivered I headed out for a walk.

I took a new route today heading straight down a very busy street so I could photograph some unusual yard art that I’ll show next Thursday. After photographing I headed back up the hill and spotted something I wasn’t thrilled about…

This coyote was across the street looking at me. Yikes! Thankfully the traffic was very busy and he couldn’t make it across the street until I was well past him.

Looking back he’s still waiting for a good opportunity to cross…

I’ve got to say that this is my preferred sighting on any given day! A pretty Robin doesn’t make me nervous.

Back at the homestead the big boulders have been moved and set in their new home. We’ll clean up around them later.

The block arrived and the wall is going in at a good pace. We should see a lot of progress today.

Hope your Thursday goes well for you!

All In The Neighborhood…

I’m adding this post to Susan’s Outdoor Wednesday. Click over to A Southern DayDreamer to see more of the great outdoors!

It really is boring walking alone. Good thing I have my camera to keep me going….

The duck flew into my view and landed close enough for a photo session. I’ve been thinking about adding a lilac bush or two in my yard. I really like this deep purple color. The last photo of the mosaic are the blossoms on my Blueberry bush.

Now to some exciting outdoor work that is being done in our side yard.

Pretty soon we’ll have a retaining wall and then eventually this will be a driveway. We’ll have to find a spot for these huge boulders!

Never a dull moment at this Old House. I’ll be showing the progress as we go along.

Have a great Wednesday everyone! Oh I almost forgot I finished my attic project and all the boxes have been gone through and delivered to their appropriate destinations. Yippee Yahoo!

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Saturday in the Northwest

It’s time for some outdoor shots wherever you are. I happen to be in the Western Washington which is part of the Great Pacific Northwest area of the U.S.A. Thank you to Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for hosting this weekly event…

My girlfriends and I walked the Burke Gilman Trail on Saturday morning for about 4 miles and it was nice and sunny.

The blossoms are gorgeous and prolific. This tree was at Blyth Park in Bothell. So many blossoms that they look like snow when they fall.

The tulips are beginning to bloom, too.

My apple tree will soon be in full bloom. I’ll take more photos when more of the buds open up…

Hope your Easter week is filled with the wonder of Jesus and what He suffered and accomplished for all of us…

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Neighborhood Walk…

After dinner yesterday Dear and I went for a walk out and about the neighborhood. The first hill was a killer but it was worth the effort.

We saw so many splashes of color in the different yards we passed. We also saw some great yard art but I’ll save that for Thursday. You know it’s Spring because there were so many people enjoying an early evening walk. The mountains pictured are the Cascades.

I showed our apple tree buds earlier in the week this next mosaic is of our pear tree with several of the buds blooming.

It’s been a great few days to be outside here in the Pacific Northwest. Rain is coming in later this week just in time for the Sounder’s game on Thursday. Hope your Wednesday is going well…

Yard Art ~ For the Birds!

Mary at Work of the Poet has started a new Thursday meme called Yard Art. I’m playing along this week…

I always get a kick out of yard art. Some is pretty ridiculous. These were just fun. These are from a walk with my friend Willow in her neighborhood. I keep threatening my kids and Dear with bringing home some yard art. They just roll their eyes!

Mosaic Blues ~ Standing in Awe…

We have been back in Southern California for a week already and we had the great privilege of enjoying the beauty of Emma Wood State Beach on Saturday morning. We are aware here in Southern California that we are one of the only parts of the U.S. not caught in the grip of Global Warming, umm the deep freeze. Today my mosaics will be linked to Mosaic Monday hosted by Mary at the Little Red House and Blue Monday hosted by Smiling Sally in Florida. Even Sally is experiencing the cold in Florida!!

Psalm 33:6-8 (English Standard Version)

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap;
he puts the deeps in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the LORD;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

Have a good week everyone and stay cozy…

Oh and lest I forget to spread the news

The lovely Laurie at Bargain Hunting & Chatting with Laurie is having a Valentine Party on February 12th!

Back to Our Favorite Spot…

…after a few months away and boy did we get lots of wonderful views…

As usual we arrived in time to see the sun rise.

The birds were mostly flying today because the tide was in and there was very little exposed sand.

We were treated to lots of dolphins. We even saw them jump over waves!

The dolphins weren’t concerned about the surfers and vice versa…

Tonight Dear and I are going to Tam O’ Shanter to celebrate our 35th anniversary that came and went with us in separate parts of the country in December. We are well on our way enjoying some of our favorite things here in Southern California. Dear has finally recovered from his ick and my ick didn’t get bad enough to keep me down! Praise the Lord!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!
