Mosaic Monday ~ Vancouver, B.C.

All of these views were taken at Stanley Park in Vancouver, B.C. this past Tuesday. My daughter Katie and I drove up to Canada from the Seattle area for the day.

To see more mosaics or to join in with your own mosaic visit Mary at The Little Red House.

Mosaic Monday ~ Fall

I’m in the Seattle area for about 10 days and I was so pleased to find some fall color in my yard. There is not a lot of fall color around the area yet but I appreciate any and all I see. My blueberry bush and our Chinese Flame Tree are contributing nicely to the season. The photo in the center of the collage is from an antique store in Camarillo, Ca.

Mary at Little Red House is our hostess for Mosaic Monday. She is a wonderful photographer so head on over and see more Mosaics or to link up with your very own mosaic…

Outdoor Wednesday

It would be fun to be enjoying the outdoors from this cozy looking Bed & Breakfast in Cambria, California.

But alas that will have to wait till sometime in the future if the Lord wills. In the meantime we spent a few hours here, the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market!

The morning started overcast and on the cooler side which was nice for us. Then at about 1:00 P.M. the sun broke through the gloom and it was fierce. We were all done with what we wanted to see so we headed for our air conditioned drive home! I was a good girl and only spent $15.00 for two items. Being an avid thrifter I find the prices for smaller items to be too high at  flea markets. The furniture and larger items seem to be a better bargain then the little stuff.

Friday’s Fave Five ~

It’s time to visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to share your favorite moments from this past week. Thank you Susanne for being the hostess with the mostest!

This was an amazing week filled with lots of experiences that were out of the ordinary. Dear was born on September 9th a few years ago but his birthday this year was the fun 09-09-09! We also had a long weekend here in the U.S. with Labor day giving many of us an extra day off. Dear and I took advantage of the extra time and had some extra fun celebrating his birthday early. So…here’s my five or so favorites.

1. Driving up the coast to Morro Bay and Cambria on Saturday, two Central California Beach communities. It was cool. It was beautiful. It was good to get away from the ordinary.

2. Having a wonderful creamy birthday brunch at Five Crowns Restaurant in Corona Del Mar. Corona Del Mar is another beach community but it is in Southern California. Yes, we do not shy away from driving…

3. Having my dear DIL send me this photo of our boys. She took it on Sunday. I love seeing our boys together, enjoying each other and taking care of each other.

4. Having Monday off and enjoying a totally layed back day recovering from all our travel and creamy food!!

5. This is my BFF from high school. She was rudely taken out of my life and away from all her friends half way into our junior year of high school. We spent so many hours together in high school. We memorized Leslie Gore songs together, had slumber parties, went to the L.A. Garment district together, were part of  a Y.M.C.A. service club together, went out to dinner together…and then she was gone! I was thinking about her and wondering how I could track her down but it was hard because of her very common last name here in Southern California. We finally connected on Facebook through some mutual friends! Yesterday we met for lunch after 41 years. It was so good to re-connect and catch up on our lives after all these years!!

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Morro Bay & Cambria

It’s time to visit Susan at A Southern DayDreamer to see the outdoor world around the blogisphere. Thank you Susan!

This is the amazing Rock at Morro Bay that is called the Gibraltar of the Pacific. With an extra day this past weekend because of Labor Day Dear and I drove up the coast of California on Saturday to escape the heat and bad air in Southern California.

It was a beautiful breezy day on the Central Coast of California. We had breakfast in Morro Bay, then walked around the Rock and the bay. We spent some time in the downtown area antique and thrift store shopping.

This Pelican almost landed on my head on his descent.

Instead of heading home we decided to drive North a little farther to the beach community of Cambria.

We enjoyed the ambiance of this town. There were pretty gardens and fun shops to walk through.

After our stroll through town we headed down to the beach and had a brisk windy walk.

We left home at 7:00 A.M. and arrived back home at 8:30 P.M. It was a full day!

Ruby Tuesday ~ Cambria

It’s time for Ruby Tuesday and I was happy to find Ruby photos to share. Mary at Work of the Poet is our hostess for this weekly event. Click on the Ruby Slippers to see more red.

On Saturday we drove up the coast to Central California. We enjoyed strolling around Morro Bay and then a little further north to Cambria. Cambria is a charming little town that has lots of fun things to photograph. I haven’t had any red/ruby in my photos for a while but there were plenty ruby moments here. I would love to travel back to this town and spend the night in one of their bed and breakfasts and have tea at the English Tea Room, “The Tea Cozy”.

Happy Ruby Tuesday everyone!

Mosaic Blue Monday!

I’m combining Mary’s Mosaic Monday with Smiling Sally’s Blue Monday this week. Please visit each site to see more blue and more mosaics.

Dear and I took a car trip up the California coast on Saturday to the communities of Morro Bay and Cambria. It was an amazing thing to see the Rock at Morro Bay that is called the Gibraltar of the Pacific. We were happy to get away from the heat and muggy skies of Southern California for the cooler marine skies in Central California. I’ll be showing more of my photos from both spots soon.

Happy Labor Day everyone…

Friday’s Fave Five ~ The Happiest Place on Earth…

FRIDAY!! This week got away from me. Thank you Susanne for encouraging us with this weekly exercise of “looking back” and being thankful for our favorites from the past week. Click on over to Living to Tell the Story to join in…

1. So we made it safe and a little bit crazy back to Southern California on Sunday. My favorite part of our 18 hour trip in the car was listening to Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix on cds. There are 23 cds and we only got up to #15. Listening to books on cd really helps me endure the boredom of road travel especially through Central California.

2. Came home to a nice clean condo which quickly had every inch of floor space filled with inflatable beds because my daughter and her boyfriend made the trip with us and are staying here for a week.

3. On Wednesday I met up with 10 family members to enjoy the day at Disneyland. My sister Lana G! treated me royally that day paying for my ticket and all my food.

4. Spending time with my brother Leonard, his wife Mandy and my niece Hope. We get to see them once or twice a year since they live in Texas.

5. Watching Miss Hope (my niece) and Jackson (my grand nephew) interact with each other. Miss Hope really enjoys having Jack in her sights. She is pointing out his nose for him in the collage.

Disneyland With Jack and Miss Hope …

On Wednesday me and a million of my friends showed up at Disneyland. I picked my closest 10 friends to hang out with and they just happened to all be related to me…

My brother Leonard and his wife Mandy along with their daughter Miss Hope flew in for the week so we have lots of fun activities planned. First on the list…conquer Disneyland!

First stop was the Carousel.

My nieces and my twin siblings Leonard and Lana. Melissa, Lana G!, Debbee, Michelle, and Leonard…

Next was “It’s a Small World”

My niece Michelle is due in a month with Jack’s little sister so she made use of this wheel chair. Ryan, Jack’s dad, and Melissa my niece are the designated pushers, transportation assistants.

Miss Hope loves Jackson and Jackson got some practice in dealing with little girls…

Here’s Jackson the Jedi Knight!

The longer we walked around the crowds the worse my photo skills got. I’m glad I at least got these heads in the photo!

The later it got the goofier we got and we started fighting taking turns in that wheel chair!

It’s always nice to get to see my brother’s family and spend extended time with them. Today is beach day (I’m home having rest day) and then on Saturday an Open House and on Sunday a baby shower for Michelle. Fun times…
