Before the Throne of God Above ~ Hymn

Sisters wknd 016

Before the Throne of God Above

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me

Behold Him there the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I am
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!

One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!’

Skagit Valley Barns

All these views from the Skagit Valley in Washington State were taken from Wiley Rd. and Mann Rd. and at the Reserve at Fir Island.

I’d like to know the story behind this decoration on this out building.

At the end of Mann Rd. from the reserve heading back to Interstate 5 you could see Fir-Conway Lutheran Church on Fir Island Dr.

I’ll be away from the computer for most of Friday. Hope you all have a good weekend. Time will tell if I can link up to The Barn Collective with Tom on Sunday. Happy First weekend of summer!

InSPIREd and Sunlit…

On our way to the daffodil fields during our sister weekend my sister Lana said I should turn around and go back to this church that I zoomed by. I have posted photos from this church on my blog but my sister Lana hadn’t seen it before and wanted to get a closer look and take some photos. She pointed out something that I had totally missed on my previous visits.

She said, “did you notice the crown on the cross on top of the spire? I said “no I didn’t” and I hopped out of the car to zoom in.

How very cool is that. Jesus is my King.

I’m linking up to InSPIREd Sunday and Sunlit Sunday.

InSPIREd Sunday – Skagit Valley

There’s a little white church in the valley
That stands in my memory each day
And it seems I can hear the bells now ringing
Though I am many miles away

And many times in church on Sunday morning
That whole countryside would gather there
They would all kneel down by the altar
As they lifted up their voice in prayer

Oh the church in the valley that little white church
Is the place I love so well
Now I’m sad and lonely yes I’m sad and lonely
For that little white church in the dell

They would sing the old song Rock of Ages
Oh Christ let me hide myself in thee
And I know some of them are now waiting
Just o’er the dark and stormy sea

I know that troubles all are ended
And happy forever they will be
They are waiting and watching up yonder
For the coming home of you and me

I took these series of photos in April of 2012. When we travel to La Conner or to Mount Vernon, Washington State to see the tulip fields we take the road that runs right next to this church. Fir-Conway Lutheran Church met first in a smaller building built in 1896. This larger building was dedicated in 1916. You can read it’s history here.

I’m linking to InSPIREd Sunday hosted by Beth and Sally. I’m also linking to Sunlit Sunday at My Little Home and Garden since this little white church is enjoying the sun.
