Tablescape Thursday ~ Checkers Anyone?

Time for table setting fun. Please click over and visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see lots of great tables around the world.

I’ve set the table early in anticipation of my brother and SIL’s visit on Saturday. We will be celebrating my brother’s birthday.

I’ve decided on Slow Cooker Pork Shoulder for sandwiches. We’ll have a salad alongside. For dessert we’ll have a choice between both my brother’s favorites…carrot cake or cheesecake.

The martini glasses are Target clearance and the cut glass are hand me downs from my aunt.

The napkins are Martha Stewart K-mart clearance. The napkin rings are from Pier 1 and were a gift from my kids.

The dishes are from the thrift store and are Royal Stafford. The flatware is from Target clearance. The chargers are from Tjmaxx.

The candle holders are from a garage sale.

Hope you are all having a good week. I’ve been staying close to home out of the storms that are hitting Southern California one after another…

Everything in this post was purchased at Thrift Stores, Clearance tables or Garage sales. The pink tablecloth is covered with a sheer polka dot piece of remnant fabric that I found at a thrift store also.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and to leave a comment. I really appreciate my blog land friends…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Condo Barscape Revisited

Time flies when you travel north and south! It’s almost Thursday again and time for some more Tablescaping fun. I’m re-showing two variations on table settings at our bar in our little condo. I haven’t had time to think about new settings yet in this new year in my Southern California location. Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is the hostess for this fun event. Click on over and see the variety of fun, romantic, elegant, practical table settings that have been created.

The chargers are from TJ Maxx clearance. I used my everyday white dinner plates and then added the salad plate that I found at Marshall’s on clearance. I love plates with country scenes on them. The martini glasses, that I use for pretty desserts, too, were from target a couple years ago.

I changed up the tablesetting at the bar with these square grey chargers and square white plates and a small decorative plates that are “White Russian” plates. I love the little cocktail glasses I found with the Russian Cossack dancers on them. The napkin rings were a gift from my DIL and Son Christmas 2008.

Now head on over to Susan’s for more Tablescape inspiration.

Tablescape Thursday ~ Fun New Gifts…

It’s been awhile since I participated in Tablescape Thursday but I wanted to use some of my Christmas gifts before I leave Washington and head back to Southern California on Sunday.Visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see more scapes!

The table inspiration started with these chargers my kids bought me for Christmas. They also gave me the linen table runner which compliments the pewter.

Dear and I purchased the 4 pewter wine goblets in England in 1974.

I picked up the pewter candlesticks at Goodwill for a steal. The pewter salt and pepper shakers were a wedding gift to us from 1974.

The Pewter tankards are also from England. We bought them in 1974, too. The napkin rings are a wedding gift from 1974 and they are sterling silver Gorham 1332. My MIL bought them at Henshey’s in Santa Monica. Does anyone remember that store? It’s long gone now…

There are no markings on the covered dish/server at the center of my table. I don’t think it’s safe for food and I only use it for decoration.

I love the design and colors in my new runner. Thanks Josh and Laura!

The green goblets are from Goodwill, too.

I bought 8 dinner plates and 8 salad plates of these country scenes from Marshalls.  Royal Stafford, made in England.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year. May 2010 be filled with God’s blessings for you…

Christmas Star Table ~

It’s been a while since I participated in Tablescape Thursday so I’m happy to join back in this week. Please visit our fabulous hostess Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see lots of tables set for entertaining.

Today I pulled out some of my Christmas decor which included two Nativity sets I purchased at after Christmas sales last year. I thought about the Wisemen that followed the star and said to King Herod “For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him”.  My star table is in honor of those Wisemen who were looking for this sign for years and were blessed with the fulfillment of that search by seeing Jesus face to face.

My chair covers are Santa Hats. I purchased them at Target after Christmas clearance about 5 years ago…

I’m looking forward to seeing your tablescapes this week. Thanks for visiting here…

Halloween Tablescape Thursday…

Today is a fun day in blog world because Susan at Between Naps on the Porch hosts Tablescape Thursday. It’s a chance to set a table and share your ideas with others. It’s fun to see the creativity out there. Because Saturday is Halloween I decided to try to come up with a Halloween Scape.

I found 4 of these cute Pumpkin and Scarecrow Placemats at a thrift store last weekend. I paid $1.95 for all 4. I wanted to show you them before I covered them up with chargers and stuff. The spider dish candle holder was from Target clearance last year and I think I paid about 50 cents for it.

The white chargers with black jewel borders were from T.J. Maxx. The square pumpkin plates are paper from Target. The polka dot napkins and the Pewter forks, knives and spoons were from a thrift store, also.

I don’t have a lot of Halloween accessories but was happy to scrape up enough for a scape :0)

Have a safe and sane Halloween Weekend everyone…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Fall in Seattle

Last week I was at my home in the Seattle area and got so busy visiting with our kids and getting the house ready for fall I couldn’t participate in Tablescape Thursday even though this table was set  for a family meal with our kids. I’m sharing it this week now that I’m back in California with a little more time on my hands.

Visit the lovely Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see more tables decked out for your enjoyment!

I forgot to take a photo of the family enjoying our meal at the table but it was really good. Our last BBQ of the season. We had steaks, fresh corn on the cob and zucchini also grilled and for dessert we had raspberry and apple pastry bites. Then we had a great time playing Beatles Rock Band.

We are so happy to be having some cooler temps since we arrived back in Southern California. It makes it feel more like Fall…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Yellow!

Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is the mastermind behind Tablescape Thursday. I really enjoy seeing how bloggers put tables together. Click over to see more tables set for your pleasure.

This past Saturday my brother and SIL came over for the day and dinner. I had recently purchased this bright busy tablecloth and wanted to set a table around it. Since it was the last weekend of summer I thought the yellow and green accents would be fun.

Dear barbecued steaks, zucchini, and corn on the cob. We had lemon bites for dessert from good ole Costco.

Here’s a closeup view of some of the seed packets on the tablecloth.

Hope your first week of Autumn is going well…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Yorkshire

Time to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for more tablescapes from around the Sphere.

Oopsie I bought some new/old dishes this week that I thought would be fun for a Thanksgiving Table. Now my dilema is how to get them up to Seattle for Thanksgiving this year. These dishes are Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Ironstone made in England. I got 36 pieces for $55.00. That comes out to about $1.54 per piece. I bought these at Goodwill.

I really enjoy dishes with English country scenes. I don’t have much in the Thanksgiving decorating realm here at the condo in California so I scrounged around to try to create something that might feel like harvest.

These are the 36 pieces that I purchased.

Be sure to visit Susan to see lots of fun table settings!
