We’ve been working on our own personal part of earth for earth day. God was extravagant when he created earth and all it contains for us to enjoy.
Another Wednesday on this earth and Joyce has a fresh set of questions for us. This is Wednesday Hodgepodge.
1. April 22nd is Earth Day…what’s the most ‘out of this world’ place on earth you’ve ever visited? Tell us something about it.

Greg said, ” When I was ten it was Disneyland.”
In our adult years I’m going to say Yellowstone or Badlands.
2. A favorite quote, verse, or song lyric with the word earth in it?
3. What’s the most trivial thing about which you have a strong opinion?
Where to park at Wal-Mart.
4. What’s your most commonly used kitchen utensil or tool? What’s the last thing you made using that tool?
I’m going to say my Chefs Knife. I made roasted vegetables for our family meal last Friday and the onions and potatoes and carrots needed to be cut. I also used it to cut ham to throw into our breakfast egg scramble on Saturday. I love a good sharp Chefs knife! I like all sorts of knives.

5. Marilyn (Memphis Bridges) gave me a great book of 3000 questions, and I’m going to try to use one in our Hodgepodge every week. Here is today’s –
What is your greatest extravagance?

Our trips lately have been extravagant. Extravagance to me is something above and beyond and luxurious. These days I don’t like to penny pinch when we are traveling.

Nice hotels and nice restaurants are my choice. That is not to say we don’t enjoy a nice pub or cafe mixed in during travel. There was a time when we penny pinched and stayed in some sleazy motels and I have stories to tell.
I also am quite happy to be extravagant with our family.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Speaking of the beauty of our earth. I’ll be getting back to our daily travel spots during our Danube River Cruise on Thursday, Lord willing.

Looking forward to your answers this week.

All of the places you listed are on my bucket list! I mentioned knives, too! How wonderful to be able to be extravagant when you travel. Especially since you’ve experienced travel… not in that way. You probably appreciate it even more :). Have a great day!
Your knife drawer is impressive! I am with you on travel, especially a nice hotel. I can’t believe I Ieft parking off my list. It’s also aggravating when there are many many spaces and someone pulls in super close beside you. Have a great day!
I enjoyed reading your answers this week, Ellen. God has indeed given us much to enjoy here on earth, and I am so looking forward to when He makes all things new! xx
…we need to hurry up and take better care of the earth!
You have visited some great places, one day I will get to go to Disneyland! I keep saying to my fella that we need a new set of knives or a decent sharpener.
We usually stay at airbnbs and try to value out but if I had to pick an extravagance going forward, I’d want to start flying first class. I’m sick of being trapped in tiny seats.
I love your answers… You live at a beautiful place! God is good. Have a lovely day. Blessings, dear Ellen.
Badlands for me too. 🙂
Ha Ha, I am still laughing, where to park at Walmart. Ha!
xo
I agree about travel. We try to stay in really nice hotels and eat nice meals when we travel. That doesn’t mean that we might not have a beverage and shared french fries for a meal if we have already eaten/or plan to eat a large meal at a different time. Those things are choices. I enjoyed your answers today and look forward to reading more about the trip!
Oh I hope to “be extravagant” on some trips soon! That is something I learned from my father. When you travel, be as “extravagant” as you can:) He always made vacations the best for us – and he set the bar rather high. LOL! I enjoyed your answers today!
Talking of knives made me think of the shell steak knives I still have. Back in the early 70’s when you got gas at a Shell station they would give you a steak knife. I still have three of them from that time!! :). Could you imagine a gas stations giving out knives now!!!
Always enjoy reading your answers.
Karen, that was a different era for sure. Thanks for visiting and commenting. I appreciate it.
Happy Earth Day!
We have also become more extravagant on our vacation trips, although being frugal is also in our blood, Being frugal and shopping sales, etc, is something that makes me feel like a winner in this time of cosnstantly increasing prices. .
Yes, yes, this is so wonderful, “I also am quite happy to be extravagant with our family.”
That is a nice picture of you and your husband. That cruise must have been so special. That plate of food looks so good! Looks like a lambchop? We paid extra on our last cruise to experience the nice restaurants on the ship. I would love to go on another cruise!
Good eye, Susan, that was a lamb chop.
Great answers, Ellen! I like your words, “I also am quite happy to be extravagant with our family.” Yes, indeed!
I have driven through the Badlands twice and I agree that they are “out of this world.” My parents are currently doing a river cruise in Europe and that is my next dream vacation!
Natasha, Hope you get to go on that river cruise!
I thought about Yellowstone as an “out of this world” place too – so wild and beautiful! I’m pretty picky about where I park at the grocery store as well. Mostly I park at the same place so that I don’t have to remember where I parked – its always at the letter F sign. LOL Love your photos of extravagant travel and agree with you about being happy to be extravagant with family.
Hope you’re having a great week!
Another delightful hodge podge Ellen. I am with you on Yellowstone and the Badlands. I could revisit those places over and over again.
