Toadstool Fences ~ Bourton on the Water

Bourton-Gloucester 024On our way to Ross on Wye and our 2nd self-catering cottage we stopped in Bourton on the Water for a very short visit. This is where we saw this unique toadstool fence by the river and across the street in front of this next building.

Bourton-Gloucester 005There were a couple more fences in town that caught my eye.

Bourton-Gloucester 025I’m linking up to Good Fences #21 with TexWisGirl at Run*A*Round Ranch Report for this weekly meme. TexWisGirl is the hostess with the mostess!

The week is flying by. I’m surprised and happy to report our traveling kids might have already chosen an apartment and it has quick occupancy. Their pod of possessions has not arrived in the Seattle area yet (probably on Monday) so the idea of emptying out the pod into an apartment is more appealing than emptying it out into our garage and then moving it all again. Andrew was able to transfer his driver’s license yesterday in record time at the DMV. It’s wonderful when things work efficiently. Now if only I can get back into an efficient routine.

  1. Great fence selections. I like the blue/green metal fence with the tops in various stages of disrepair. Looks like that fence has seen some life.
Great news about the travelers who will soon settle in their own little nest.

  2. the toadstool toppers are very interesting! love the classic wrought iron, but the cut-out scene in the last is really special! thank you!

and good luck to your kids!

  3. Those are certainly some unique fences! So glad to hear your two wanderers have returned close to home again, at least for a while! Your previous post made me smile, love those chicken photos.

  4. A wonderful post. I love the toadstool fence, someone’s very creative and clever idea. This also brings back some memories. I visited Bourton on the Water many years ago. It’s a very picturesque town as shown by your gorgeous photos.

  5. Aha! I knew it! That gal of yours moves fast. It really is a good plan not to have to do any extra unpacking and repacking. Good, good idea.

What great fences…I like the peek fence best of all.

  6. The toadstool fence is very unique. Looking through the hole in one fence to see another is really cool. Great finds.

It is so nice when things come together like that. : )

  7. Oooooo – I just love the toadstool fence! How absolutely charming. Thanks for sharing the photos. Glad to hear things are working out so nicely for Andrew and Katie!

  8. Wow, what a unique fence, Ellen!! The place we stayed in England had a toadstool thingy in the back garden; it was really pretty with flowers planted all around it. But I’ve never seen them used as a fence. I love, love the green fence; it’s so pretty! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  9. Fascinating fences, every one! The toadstool fence is charming and unique. And love the tempting peek into the garden through the last fence.

A new apartment is in the works…wow, that’s fast! Hope that Katie and Andrew have a smooth transition into this new chapter of their lives!

  10. Now you KNOW what a goofball I can be. When I first saw the title I got all excited because I thought it was about BOURBON and water!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 It must be 5 o’clock somewhere!!!

Gorgeous and really interesting fences! The toadstools are both whimsical and staid all in the same vein.

Hooray and fingers crossed for the possibility of an apartment found!!! Let’s think positive thoughts and make it happen! Also, HUGE hooray for not having to spend a full day at the DMV!!!
