Sun and Eagle Chasing…

Our trip on Sunday up highway 530 in Northwest Washington was one of trying to find the sunshine and spotting some eagles along the Skagit River.

We found both and enjoyed the sunshine and the eagles we spotted. Some of our Mennonite girls get eagles right on their own properties and others don’t have to travel far to enjoy viewing them. Maybe next year I’ll just go squat on their properties to see many eagles all together.

The Skagit River area between Concrete and Marblemount off of highway 20 in Washington is a good spot to see eagles in January. We were a little late to see a good number this year.

The Skagit river was flowing nicely with some interesting swirling that we enjoyed watching.

Tomorrow I’ll be picking up our daughter from the airport for her 1 month stay with us while our Son in law is doing some training off the base. We’re happy to have her here with us instead of on base by herself for the month. We are looking forward to some fun events together. She’ll bring a different kind of sunshine to our home.

  1. There is a wonderful Bird of Prey Center here in Perth. I popped some photos of some of the birds on one of my blogs. Outside of this – you really did a great job with the camera. Catching a bird of this nature with so clarity is awesome. Well done!

  2. Well this Mennonite girl has drive for hours before she gets to see an eagle as well. So sadly no need squat at my place, but I would want you to come visit 😉
Speaking of visits you must be thrilled to have an entire month with Katie. That is so special for all of you.

  3. Eagles are indeed so regal. The slope of their eyes always makes me think that they are intensely on watch, looking about with such keen views. Beautiful. Rejoicing with you over the joy of a month with your daughter.

  4. Beautiful shots of that amazing bird Ellen! Yes, it seems that someone’s front porch has these visitors often…alas it’s not this Mennonite Girl’s however. How nice it would be to have a visit with you on my porch – we could perhaps spy a cardinal or two! How wonderful to have Katie home for a month!

  5. We saw a bald eagle on our hike yesterday. There are lots of them around here. Such majestic looking birds. Your photos are gorgeous.
Enjoy the month with your daughter. Isn’t it wonderful when you can spend such a concentrated amount of time with them?

  6. Such great captures. He certainly looks regal and dignified.

Oh it’ll be great to have your daughter visiting with you. I’m sure that your son-in-law will be happier about the arrangement, too, knowing that she won’t be alone.

  7. Wonderful scenic posts, Ellen! A bad eagle is such a magnificent bird. It’s so nice your daughter will be able to spend time with you –I know how much you must miss her. Enjoy your month together!
