Mosaic Monday ~ Northwest Happenings…

On Thursday my daughter and I spent a few hours at the Seattle Center and enjoyed the Harry Potter Exhibit and lunch at a Thai Restaurant in the area.

Then On Friday evening we attended our son’s open house for his new business. That’s our daughter and son in the photo. We are very proud of his business ethics and hard work.

Please visit Mary at Little Red House to join in the mosaic fun.

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

O Happy Day, That Fixed My Choice ~ Hymn

O Happy Day, That Fixed My Choice

O happy day, that fixed my choice
On Thee, my Savior and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice,
And tell its raptures all abroad.

Refrain

Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray, and live rejoicing every day
Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away.

O happy bond, that seals my vows
To Him who merits all my love!
Let cheerful anthems fill His house,
While to that sacred shrine I move.

Refrain

’Tis done: the great transaction’s done!
I am the Lord’s and He is mine;
He drew me, and I followed on;
Charmed to confess the voice divine.

Refrain

Now rest, my long divided heart,
Fixed on this blissful center, rest.
Here have I found a nobler part;
Here heavenly pleasures fill my breast.

Refrain

High heaven, that heard the solemn vow,
That vow renewed shall daily hear,
Till in life’s latest hour I bow
And bless in death a bond so dear.

Refrain

Words: Philip Doddridge (1702-1751), published posthumously in 1755; refrain from Wesleyan Sacred Harp, 1854. Prince Albert of Britain requested this hymn be sung at his children’s confirmation.

We sang this song at Baptism services growing up.

FFF ~ Five in One

It’s Friday and time for counting blessings one by one. Any day is a good day to do that but we have the privilege of joining in together with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and documenting them on Fridays.

All five of my favorites are from one day. There were lots of blessings on the other days of this past week but I’ll share 5 from yesterday.
1. The sun was shining and the time was right for an impromptu jaunt to the Seattle Center. Katie and I had tried to go to the Harry Potter Exhibit in January but it was sold out on the day we happened to be at the Seattle Center so we decided to give it a try yesterday. We decided at 10:30 a.m. that we’d go and by 11:20 we drove up to the Space Needle for valet parking and walked the short distance to the Science Center.
2. The exhibit was fun with lots of great props from the movies. There were very few people in the exhibit which made it easier to get around and see everything. No photography was allowed in the exhibit. One lady was caught taking a photo with her phone and they made her delete it!
3. After we were done with the exhibit we walked across the way to the hands on section of the Science Center to see their butterfly exhibit. We went through double doors and into the 80 degree butterfly habitat. It was fun to have so many beautiful butterflies flying around us. You had to be very careful where you stepped and before they let you leave you had to be checked to make sure no butterflies decided to land on your clothing. I’ll be sharing more of my butterfly photos next week.
4. I mentioned what a wonderful clear sunny day it was right? Well this view was fun to see. Those are the Olympic mountains showing their glory across the Puget Sound.
5. We were treated to this view as we walked to our lunch destination and my last favorite, enjoying lunch at a new Thai Restaurant with my daughter.
All that fun and I still had time to prune a few branches off our apple tree when we got home from the Center.
What are some of your blessings from this past week?

Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe?

I was born on a Wednesday and this is just not true about me.  One evening this week we were talking about what day of the week we were born on and the old rhyme…

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

Well come to find out Dear was born on a Wednesday, too. All three of our children were born on Friday. Our daughter in law was born on a Sunday. Our future SIL was born on a Wednesday. So what day of the week were you born on?

We are getting some dry days with sun peeking out here and there. We hope to take advantage of the dryness to get some outside work done. On Tuesday I pruned the pear tree. We’re hoping to prune the apple tree and get the flag pole installed before the weekend is over. I have 3 different flags for my flag pole. I hope to be able to show them to you soon.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Mosaic Blue ~ Sleepless in Seattle…

Remember the fun floating houses in Sleepless in Seattle? My daughter and I were checking on a wedding venue on Lake Union and enjoyed seeing these floating houses.

I’m linking up with Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday and Sally at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday.

So…are you/did you watch the Super Bowl? We had it on and enjoyed some homemade guacamole and Reuben sandwiches while watching with one eye. Tip for the day…try grilled onions on your Reuben, delicious!

Here’s one more bonus photo that qualifies as blue and a mosaic all by itself!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Perfect Peace ~ Hymn

Perfect Peace

In perfect peace, O gracious Lord,
No fears my heart molest,
For Thou, whose voice controls the deep,
Can soothe my care to rest.

Refrain

Thy perfect peace Thou givest me,
My ever present Guide;
Thy perfect peace thou leavest me—
What can I ask beside?

In perfect peace from day to day
I learn Thy righteous will,
And with a love that questions not,
Obey and follow still.

Refrain

In perfect peace the clouds I view,
The gathering storm I see,
For Thou hast taught my soul to know
It shall be well with me.

Refrain

In perfect peace, O gracious Lord,
Till life’s last hour shall close,
I’ll sing Thy goodness o’er and o’er,
And on Thy love repose.

Refrain

FFF ~ February Begins…

…but before January was over we had one last January birthday celebration!

Little Miss D. turned 1 and we had a fun time watching her eat a cupcake for the first time. She also is quite the dancer and gave us some great moves that made us smile! I left my good camera at home so my photos were not great. We are friends with little Miss’ grandparents and our son Dan is best friends with her dad.

Sunrises were beautiful this week with our clear cold weather.

My daughter and I had fun checking out another wedding venue on Lake Union.

After checking out the venue we found a local eatery and had a very tasty lunch with a nice view.

Last but not least it was good to hear about answered prayers for health issues from friends this past week.

Please visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in with Friday’s Fave Five!

I was able to check off a few items on my 60 in 60 list. I made 3 new recipes last weekend and ate at a new restaurant (see above) and explored a new neighborhood in the Seattle area. YeeHaw!

So are you having a Superbowl party this weekend?

Glorious Sunrise!

Psalm 90:14  ~ Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Our cold clear days have afforded us some beautiful sunrises.

The colors change quickly so it’s good to pay close attention with your camera at hand.

The rain is suppose to return on Thursday. I’m in the midst of doing some re-evaluating of my daily schedule and seeing how things can improve for me and the family. On Monday and Wednesday mornings I go to the YMCA for Zumba. I felt the need to have an aerobic workout on Fridays, too, so Mondays wouldn’t wipe me out. The solution that I came up with is to do a thorough house cleaning every Friday. Cleaning is a great aerobic workout and it’s a win win idea for myself and the family. Somewhere along the way I have gotten out of the weekly cleaning schedule.

On Thursday Katie and I have an appointment to check out another wedding venue. I’ll make sure and take some photos!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Before the Rain Returns…

…we’re enjoying beautiful sunshiny days albeit cold.

Cold is relative, though, as I hear about -7 degrees for some of our bloggy friends across the continent. Some of you are under a blanket of snow and ice. I hope you have your cupboards stocked and your power remains.

The view from my computer is very bright. The sun has a way of cheering one’s outlook.

February is here and we’ll soon be celebrating Valentines Day. I’ve brought out the Love already.

Hope you are safe and cozy wherever you are!
