Mosaic Monday~ Botanical Garden

On Thursday I visited the Bellevue Botanical Garden and enjoyed the flowers in bloom. Several of these are different varieties of Dahlias. Mary at Little Red House is the hostess for Mosaic Monday. Click on over to see more mosaics…

Mosaic Blue Monday~ Hydrangeas

It’s time for Mosaic Monday and Blue Monday. My hydrangea bush in Washington is giving us a variety of purple, green and blue this year.  To see more Blue visit Sally at Smiling Sally and to see more Mosaics visit Mary at Little Red House.

Right now my daughter is having a bridal shower at our home so I’m sneaking out of view to post. I’ll be showing photos from our patio gazebo transformation for the Morracon themed party. Blessings on your week.

Blue Mosaic Monday ~ Celebration!

Things have been busy around our home in Washington State. We had 18 people near and dear to us over for a celebration on the 4th. Dear barbecued Tri-tip for sandwiches and we had some great veggie sides. Cookies and Cheesecake for dessert. The center photo in the collage is of our daughter Katie. The lovely ladies in the bottom photo are Jamie, Laura (our DIL), Lucy, Katie and Bridget. Jamie, Lucy and Bridget are sisters.

On Sunday morning I drove Dear to the airport and we’ll be apart for about 4 weeks. Boohoo!  On Sunday afternoon we picked up my niece Debbee from the airport for a 3 day visit. This coming Sunday I’m helping my daughter with a Bridal shower at our home. We hope our vision for decorating the gazebo for the shower comes together…

Thanks for stopping by. To see more Mosaics visit Mary at Little Red House. To see more Blue visit Smiling Sally.

Mosaic Blue Monday ~ Red,White & Blue!

I’m joining Sally’s Blue Monday a little late this week. Visit her to see more blue. I suspect you’ll see a lot of 4th of July blue this week.

And on a personal note. We arrived to our home in the Seattle area at about 10:15 last night. As usual it will take me a couple days to get my brain back. It’s hard sometimes switching from my Southern California Brain to my Washington State Brain. The trip took us 15 hours but listening to The Prisoner of Azkaban made the hours go by quicker. The book on cd was 11 hours long. I’ll be uploading photos from the wedding and other random shots soon.

Hope all is well with everyone…

Mosaic Blue Monday! ~ Adamson House

Mondays are so full of fun in Bloggyworld! I’m combining Mary’s Mosaic Monday with Sally’s Blue Monday! Click on either name to get to more mosaics and more blue…

Dear and I drove south on PCH to check out the Malibu Lagoon State Park and we got a bonus when we discovered the Adamson House that the state of California purchased in 1968. The house property borders the lagoon and the beach. The beautiful grounds were open and we enjoyed it all to ourselves. I hope to return on another day to take a tour of the home.

The Malibu area is rich in clay and the Rindge family recognized that and established Malibu Potteries (1926-32). The house has many wonderful tile features characteristic of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. Adamson married one of the Rindge daughters. I’m including the following mosaic of some of the flowers on the grounds.

There is so much history connected to this land, home and area of the coast. It was fun to learn a little of it.

Adamson House is designated a National Historical Site and is also as a registered California Landmark.

Visible from most places on the state beach, but with entry only off the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway One), a few hundred feet down coast in Malibu Lagoon State Beach is the Adamson House

You can read more about the history of the Adamson House here.

Mosaic Monday & Blue Monday~ Happy Flag Day!

Flag Day is Sunday and since our Mosaics go up on Sunday night I’m posting this one early to honor Flag Day here in the U.S.A. There’s a lot of blue in all my mosaics so I’m double posting for Blue Monday.  Thank you Mary for starting Mosaic Monday which is wonderful for a visual person like me! Click here to see more Mosaics. Thank you Sally for starting Blue Monday. Blue is one of my favorite colors. Click here to see more blue!

On Thursday I walked around the historic section of Oxnard and found some flags. The vignette of flags and Parfait were taken at our home in Washington over Memorial Weekend.

Now here’s some Blue from Maliblue, I mean Malibu! I was here with my bloggy friend Willow on Friday.

And on Friday night Dear and I headed over to the Greek Festival in town to get some good Greek food. We had Gyros and Saganaki (a great hard greek cheese, fresh cut from a large wheel sauteed with lemon and flamed with brandy and fresh lemon juice). OPA!  Oh I forgot about the Greek pastries we brought home, too. Can anyone tell me why I’m not losing weight??

Happy Flag Day and have a great Monday everyone…
